Sexist FB post?

This appeared on a male friend’s Facebook page. I found it unacceptable and voiced my disapproval, but was surprised how many people, including women, gave it the ‘thumbs up’! What are your thoughts; AIBU?

Sexist FB post?
OP posts:

Oh and no, they weren’t deleted when reported. 🤷‍♂️

@thatwasme22

''Did you comment on them? There’s a lot of shit jokes on Facebook.''

Nope, I can't be bothered having public arguments but my point being it is futile pointing out sexist jokes against women on social media when I see plenty of the reverse ones too and often from women.

I have even seen memes on Loren Bobbitt and Catherine kieu on social media like they are comical figures yet I would love to see the reaction if men were to put comical memes on men mutilating a woman's sex organs. In fact, I saw a fb status from a women a while back laughing about Darlene from Ozark tv show castrating a male in the show and again loads of women posting 'that will teach him' and laughing faces in the replies. Reverse the gender there.

How very hypocritical of you then to complain about sexism when you’re doing nothing to tackle it.

And I know how much you hate a double standard, you must be furious with yourself.

thatwasme22 · 31/03/2021 16:01

''So the ones showing a woman battered and bleeding at the bottom of a staircase with a caption along the lines of “should have made me a sandwich”, have passed you by then?''

They have, the sexist ones I see against women on sm are usually more sexual than violent.

nah because I come up against too many mugs like you, who challenges every opinion said and I AM NOT DOING THAT PUBLICALLY with my real name.

Me? I’m not the one who makes threads about double standards while being a massive raving hypocrite, that’s all on you.

Shame you don’t care as much about ‘sexism against men’ in real life as you pretend to on here.

JSL52 · 31/03/2021 16:13

Yes. It's pathetic.

SinkGirl · 31/03/2021 21:24

The guy who posted it could be really lovely in real life, I'm sure he was only having a laugh and not trying to upset anyone.

If you believe his Facebook posts, then he’s the ultimate gentleman who has the utmost respect for women. Which doesn’t really go with posting this does it?

OP, it seems several of us who commented have been blocked now. Shame.

Hellhath · 31/03/2021 21:26

It's vile

I pointed out that it’s offensive to men too - men shouldn’t have so little self control that seeing an attractive woman in a short dress means they most have sex with her.

Overall it’s grotesque and I said as much.

Scubadivinginabox · 01/04/2021 21:46

Offensive to women (attractive ones are stupid sex objects who get men in trouble) and offensive to men (you are also stupid and only think with your dick). Just awful. There should be an automatic delete button for this kind of offensive twaddle. Anyone who thinks it's funny is stupid.

idrinkchocolatemilk · 24/04/2021 06:58

It’s just a joke ffs 🤣🤣🤣

FixTheBone · 24/04/2021 07:03

@LaBellina

Sexist and misogynistic as it portrays women as devious creatures trying to lure men into sex to reach their financial goals Confused. Your FB friend seems a real charmer Hmm
I'd see it is the complete opposite.

Misandry - assuming that all men are walking around oggling every woman in summer clothing and being caught out by their partners...

Amore2 · 24/04/2021 07:09

It's wrong on so many levels.

Mute notifications is a great option for this.

MumofPsuedoAdult · 24/04/2021 07:13

Ugh...I'd tell your FB friend that the 1980s wants its poster back

TabooNCoke · 24/04/2021 07:21

People often click like on FB when they see a friend has posted something without looking too deeply at it, then often re-post it without thinking. Same morons who send messages that you have to like and send it to another 10 people.

Needsleep32 · 24/04/2021 07:22

It’s... it’s just a joke....
