Sexist FB post?

Tallycally · 30/03/2021 15:08

This appeared on a male friend’s Facebook page. I found it unacceptable and voiced my disapproval, but was surprised how many people, including women, gave it the ‘thumbs up’! What are your thoughts; AIBU?

Sexist FB post?

Sexist and pretty rapey as it makes it sounds like the dress means the man can't control himself.

Alsohuman · 30/03/2021 19:01

@MilkTwoSugarsThanks

I took it to mean "don't get carried away guys - unprotected sex could (and probably will) result in a baby".
I did too.
Stoppissingonmyheather · 30/03/2021 19:02

Mildly amusing ish but not that funny and can be interpreted however you want so you can say its sexist or not sexist depending on how you read it

IndecentFeminist · 30/03/2021 19:05

Wowsers. Not in the least bit ok. I'd think a lot less of anyone liking it sharing that tripe

Naunet · 30/03/2021 19:25

Tbh I see more woman being sexist than men. Seems women are allowed to openly make derogatory comments about men without any batting an eyelid, but heaven forbid the reverse happens

For fuck sakes 🙄

Goodytoshoes · 30/03/2021 20:19

@Naunet very inciteful input, thank you....

CareBear50 · 31/03/2021 00:06

Thanks for the reply
Makes sense now I know the whole quote.....but when only half the quote was there, it made no sense.

Thank you

You want an insightful response to “but women are worse”?! I mean, if you can’t work out for yourself that it’s utter rubbish, I can’t help you.

Deadringer · 31/03/2021 14:15

Yes it's not sexist at all, it's a timely reminder to men to be responsible, be respectful of women, and to consider the consequences of their actions. It doesn't suggest at all that women flaunt their bodies to trap innocent men. Hmm

GeidiPrimes · 31/03/2021 14:26

Typical MRA incel crap. How embarrassing for them.

Why mention what’s she’s wearing then?

It’s undeniably sexist. And it’s not my humour but at the same time it’s obviously a joke. It’s a sexist joke, that’s it.

Oh sorry, I think I misread this!
Whammyyammy · 31/03/2021 14:28

Its called a meme, humourous to some, not to others. That's how humour works.

Graciebobcat · 31/03/2021 14:29

Report it to Facebook, it's hate speech against women. They probably won't do anything, but you never know.

CanofCant · 31/03/2021 14:32

Blurgh.

SinkGirl · 31/03/2021 14:33

Err... I think I am one of the other people pointing out how gross it is on the same thread.

If it’s the same person, he’s a man who proclaims what a gentleman he is constantly and has been playing the NAMALT card lately.

Tallycally · 31/03/2021 14:51

I have already done that. They didn’t take action.

I have seen a fb post yesterday[meme] joking over a man in hospital after his wife battered him under the thread 'just for laughs', I saw another meme joking over a male stripper with a great bod and a small package with the thread then fill of women making jokes over 'small' men...

thatwasme22 · 31/03/2021 15:23

''Tbh I see more woman being sexist than men. Seems women are allowed to openly make derogatory comments about men without any batting an eyelid, but heaven forbid the reverse happens''

''For fuck sakes''

Eh the poster was giving her opinion, don't try to bully her.

Did you comment on them? There’s a lot of shit jokes on Facebook.
fallfallfall · 31/03/2021 15:31

The implied message is men are stupid and easily distracted by their penis.

😂🤣 that’s not bullying! How dramatic.

Nope, I can't be bothered having public arguments but my point being it is futile pointing out sexist jokes against women on social media when I see plenty of the reverse ones too and often from women.

I have even seen memes on Loren Bobbitt and Catherine kieu on social media like they are comical figures yet I would love to see the reaction if men were to put comical memes on men mutilating a woman's sex organs. In fact, I saw a fb status from a women a while back laughing about Darlene from Ozark tv show castrating a male in the show and again loads of women posting 'that will teach him' and laughing faces in the replies. Reverse the gender there.

So the ones showing a woman battered and bleeding at the bottom of a staircase with a caption along the lines of “should have made me a sandwich”, have passed you by then?
