AIBU to ask for some help planning this?

I've been on mumsnet almost forever, and it's my go-to place for wisdom, help and advice. I don't really have a long time alive, as my cancer treatment has stopped working, so I'm hoping that some of you can help me plan a trip to Anglesey, so that I've seen somewhere that isn't these four walls during my Liverpool Lockdown!

I don't want to go much further afield, as I would feel better being easily accessible to medical care if necessary. The plan is to hire a car with my husband, who'll drive, and stay a night or two in B&Bs, taking in some coastal views and sunsets.

I'd love to trawl antique shops.
I'd like to take the dog, if possible, though this isn't really essential.
Outdoors is good, but I'll have to use a wheelchair for more than short distances.
I like the idea of "hidden gems" in terms of places to visit (who doesn't?) but comfort is good too.
I'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit, so in a few weeks is fine (I hope!).

I don't want to annoy anybody, but I'd like to use this thread for a bit of support and encouragement, and keep bumping it for more ideas and suggestions.so I can make this trip as special as possible. As Anglesey isn't all that far from where I live, I could split the trip into a few parts.

So, can you help? AIBU?

Know nothing about Anglesey BOF but many others are much wiser Grin. Hope you get to have a fabulous meal xx

AutumnOrange · 15/03/2021 17:10

I have bugger all advice to give regarding Anglesey- went once as a child but can barely remember it.
I have been on MN for over 10 years but name change regularly because I tend to overshare You have helped me on so many of my threads. You are funny, kind and fair.
I remember years ago you called out another poster (they had very quickly become well known) who was being rude to lesser known posters and it really stuck with me - it was when there was a lot of allegations of MN Royalty and cliques were going on. I know that is a really small petty thing but it really stuck with me. You always come across as funny and kind and knowledgeable.
Though I have to say I am a bit gutted at seeing those drawings of you - in my head you had a middle aged perm 😂
I hope you get to Wales and it is my privilege to be able to donate to help you in whatever way it can.
Cancer is shit. Fucking shit.

VivaDixie · 15/03/2021 17:47

@JustineMumsnet Just seen your donation and it made me have a little something in my eye. Made me realise just how loved and respected BitOfFun is round these parts.

@AutumnOrange that made me arf! As if someone called 'BitOfFun' is going to have a middle aged perm Grin I mean I saw her pics years ago but someone with a username like that was always going to be hot to trot Wink

BoF - I'm going to chuck a few quid in when I've found my purse but can I suggest that you take all the money donated (via MN & your FB group) and treat you and your DP to a meal, ice cream, coffees, gin - whatever you fancy - when the UK opens up again. God knows if anyone deserves it, it's you Flowers

Now - anyone know where my bloody purse is?

redastherose · 15/03/2021 20:15

Sorry to hear your news BOF, I've only been around on MN for 5 years or so but recognise your name. I haven't been to Anglesey for years but spent a lot of time there as a child and always loved all the Castles, Caernarfon was a favourite back then. I've donated and really hope you get to Anglesey, enjoy your trip, and have an ice cream or cream bun on me. The pictures are amazing btw, your DH is very talented and you are very beautiful.

BellaVita · 15/03/2021 20:31

Have bunged a few quid in the ice cream fund, thanks for setting it up @Beenaroundnow.

Have seen too many threads saying how wonderful people were after they've gone so let me say while you're still here to read it, thanks for being such a great sport and making this corner of t'internet a pleasure to hang out in. However long your remaining journey is, travel well Star

BitOfFun · 15/03/2021 21:27

Let's hope that things open up soon enough for me to be able to enjoy this. And that it's balanced with me dying in a timely fashion so nobody talks about that dreadful fleecing BOF Grin.

BlackeyedSusan · 15/03/2021 21:42

I hope you get your trip to anglesey sorted. So sorry to hear your news about cancer.

Cocopogo · 15/03/2021 21:44

I’m booked for Anglesey in August. I go every year. It’s my go to place that feels like home. All my suggestions have already been mentioned but I’ll re-add in case somewhere gets missed.

  • for a nice meal go to The Tavern at St David’s in Red Wharf Bay or the Bay Cafe at Benllech.
Go to the lifeboat place in Moelfre. Go to Newborough for good parking and accessible beach with toilets etc. Go to Plas Newydd and see Whistlers painting...stunning. Breath-taking place. There’s lots of other places but those are the places I wouldn’t miss.
Cocopogo · 15/03/2021 21:46

@fightingirish what a gem. Do tell...where is the b&b, I would be interested for next year.

thesunwillout · 15/03/2021 22:05

BOF

Have a flake on your cone from me 🥰

iklboo · 15/03/2021 22:19

And sprinkles. And raspberry sauce.

Beenaroundnow · 16/03/2021 09:09

Thank you for all your donations. I’m going to finish the fundraiser this evening as there’s now plenty for a lovely meal and a few ice creams and I don’t want it to detract from all the plans and ideas for the trip itself.
So if you’re still trying to locate your purse you’ve got until bedtime Grin
