AIBU to ask for some help planning this?

I've been on mumsnet almost forever, and it's my go-to place for wisdom, help and advice. I don't really have a long time alive, as my cancer treatment has stopped working, so I'm hoping that some of you can help me plan a trip to Anglesey, so that I've seen somewhere that isn't these four walls during my Liverpool Lockdown!

I don't want to go much further afield, as I would feel better being easily accessible to medical care if necessary. The plan is to hire a car with my husband, who'll drive, and stay a night or two in B&Bs, taking in some coastal views and sunsets.

I'd love to trawl antique shops.
I'd like to take the dog, if possible, though this isn't really essential.
Outdoors is good, but I'll have to use a wheelchair for more than short distances.
I like the idea of "hidden gems" in terms of places to visit (who doesn't?) but comfort is good too.
I'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit, so in a few weeks is fine (I hope!).

I don't want to annoy anybody, but I'd like to use this thread for a bit of support and encouragement, and keep bumping it for more ideas and suggestions.so I can make this trip as special as possible. As Anglesey isn't all that far from where I live, I could split the trip into a few parts.

So, can you help? AIBU?

Well, hopefully most of the photos on this thread will end up being of beautiful Welsh coastal views, but it's nice to remember the time when my body was an asset, before it was riddled with tumours!

Oh BOF Sad

I think your body was very much an asset!
You are also very beautiful and that wont have changed one bit.

It's just so strange, because your username flashed across my mind a couple of days ago. And when it did I thought, why have I thought of that.
I'm not sure if you've discussed things on here.
I don't come on here as much as I did.
I was various forms of the word pirate yrs ago.
Yep that painting is amazing.
I think the other version showed
nips. ☺️

I remember you posting that painting before - it is stunning.

Benllech beach is easier to get to as you can drive right down and park next to the beach. There is a gorgeous restaurant The Bay Cafe which has parking, I would also book there.

Moelfre is cute and a little car park right in the bay. There is a lovely restaurant in Bulll bay

Just over on the mainland Caernarfon is lovely with a good area for pedestrians and nice restaurants and shops.

Travelling from Liverpool you'll go by Conway, it's now by-passed but well worth a slight detour to break your journey.
Depending when you go, Bodnant Gardens, NT, south of Conway, are lovely, there's a beautiful Laburnum Arch. They're hoping to start reopening soon.

As a not very mobile person I can recommend:
If you're having a wheelchair day go for the Belgian promenade under the Menai bridge. Enter from the bridge end by the Anglesey arms pub not through the red squirrel wood by Waitrose as that's very steep.
Also the concrete proms at Benllech and Treaddur bay are high above the sand but you still get the benefit of the sea air.
A lovely view from the car if you drive from Treaddur bay along the small coastal road towards the rspb sanctuary and eventually you'll get to Holyhead.
Beaumaris is pretty and the pier is in good shape.
Have a lovely time.

Big hugs, @BitOfFun. If you need some foodie inspiration, take a look at this guide:

www.olivemagazine.com/travel/uk/wales-travel/north-wales-foodie-guide/

Anglesey was also known as the capital of druidry in Roman times (before they all got slaughtered) and the archeology they left behind is well worth seeing.

So sorry for you. Second the suggestion of the Belgian promenade - best when the tide rushes up the Straight. Bangor pier is a nice accessible stop enroute, but not sure if it is fully open

I'm saving all these suggestions, thanks everyone!

@NoelHeadbands, I should have known you'd spot the nip Grin. That's the one that's caused all the trouble. It doesn't look too good any more, but it's the spread to my brain and liver that will probably get me. My two favourite organs- it doesn't seem fair!

BoF I'm so sorry to hear this. You won't know me at all but I've been here for years. I remember your husband's amazing portrait of you.

Also a picture you once posted of your beautiful daughter with long red hair and a spotty dress, my daughter had the same one so it stuck in my mind.

You've always been kind AND funny on here, Will follow your adventures. I've never been to Anglesey but I randomly know that Rupert Penry-Jones has a house there 😆. It's meant to be very beautiful. 🌊 💙

@BitOfFun

A big hug to you, Viva- I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news, and I do know it can affect you to 'lose' someone you've known only from this place. We hang out here, we form bonds, sometimes it's the only place where we can really talk...remember CatThiefKeith? MaryAnnSingleton? Quite a few others.

*@exLtEveDallas* I can't remember which sexier one I may have ventured Grin, but there's a heavily cropped photograph DH showed me the full version of earlier tonight from when we first met. I think you can tell there was a spark between us, definitely...Grin.

that is some pic - you absolute (classy) minx Wink

Massive hugs backatcha. I do remember CatThiefKeith and of course Zombie. But you are the first one that I feel that I 'know' Smile and yes, I had a little cry last night when I read your OP.

As I say I have been on here for 12 years and your posts and username always stand out to me, from the very start when I was PG with DS1 who is now almost 12! Whenever you come onto a thread I always think 'fab - critical thinking and normal service now resumed'. I love your calm and measured posts. You won't remember as I don't post often but we have occasionally chatted over the years and you once PMd me about a certain household name mentioned upthread Wink Grin

But honestly, the only thing I can take from this is the opportunity to tell you that you are a fucking brilliant person. Might be best not to say when you are going to Anglesey as I (and a few others on this thread Wink) will crash your calm serendipity! Grin

Love Viva (formerly Summerbird, MarthasHarbour etc etc - I name changed for privacy but fuck it!)

Oh I forgot to mention BOF that there is a fab Facebook group called Images of Anglesey. You have to request to join. It has reams of the most beautiful pictures of the island - from amateurs to professionals. Its a great inspiration for places to go.
Seeing the pictures awakens in me the old 'hiraeth' - a yearning for the lost places of your past.

I also am of no help, having never been to Anglesey (and now I keep singing "I've been to Anglesey but I've never been to me...")

but am also stopping by to wish you much love and solidarity from another almost-foreverer (name-changer).

I’m a bit wary of posting this and will report my own post so HQ can see what they think but I can’t be the only one who would like to chip in a couple of pounds to shout you a nice dinner during your trip?
Just to say thank you for the entertainment and wisdom over the last 12 years I’ve been on here.
Don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable in any way and don’t want to make it into a big song and dance-just a small gesture as I would do for a friend.
