To be angry at M&S!!!

I am or have been an M&S super fan. I shop a lot from there, always excited when their sales come on. Most of my stuff is M&S. I have been trying to buy some goodies in the sale but boy oh boy, every time I get to check out, everything I add is sold out even if it shows on their website that the items I have added are in stock.

Anyone having the same problem? How has any of the other M&S fans got around this issue? Hope there are some M&S fans like me I here. I feel stupid for being a very 🤣🤣

Perhaps your computer doesn't think they are essential items.

I've bought a pair of Carrie jeans. No mention of this in the description, but they've turned up with the bottoms artfully unhemmed and distressed 'patches'. Now I know, I can see it in the pictures, but it isn't very obvious (and doesn't apply for all colours).

I discounted another style because they said they were distressed. I don't want to buy jeans that look more worn out than the ones I'm replacing!

It is not just the sale items. I tried to buy a bra on Saturday which was in stock on the listing but out when I attempted to checkout not less than a minute later.

I've had this several times recently on the M&S website, and not just with sale items. It is very frustrating.

If it is a sale then I would expect that things will sell out very quickly and that there will be limited stock. It comes down to you just not being fast enough at putting in your order.
The company generally won't reserve the things in your basket as you go, they will only be yours when checkout is complete. A few companies will allow you say 10 - 15 mins from adding to the basket to check out where it is yours as long as checkout is complete in the time frame.
I don't think it is anything to be angry about.

It's all over twitter - lots of technical problems with their site and app.

This happened to me several times on my last order. I eventually logged back in really late at night and it went through with no issues, it was the exact same items that had been "out of stock" earlier.

I gave up yesterday when nothing I wanted was in stock. Sale items, but also normal price stuff like some moisturiser.

Fed up. Didn’t know it was a glitch. Thought it was bad stock control.

Yes, I'm having this problem too. Trying to buy clothes in the kids sale but every time I get to the checkout it's boots it all out of my trolley. I've given up after several attempts.

AND they show out of stock items in search results i.e. if I want jeans in a size 10, they show me all of them, even if the size 10 isn't available. It drives me mad. I complained last week, but they were really -useless- unhelpful in their reply. In the end I just went somewhere else where their website actually shows me things I can buy!

Yep, happened to me whilst trying to purchase a jacket for my mum.

Tried again just now. Everything I put in my basket is out of stock. Sale or non sale. Makes no difference. Can’t buy anything.

Yes had this problem too, so annoying!

Yep drove me crazy. Must of put a dozen or so kids items in the basket. All but 1 item out of stock.

Next do it too its so frustrating

I've had this too. Took myself off to another shop.

Yep! I tried a month ago to buy a few things for my DD and it said out of stock when I tried to check out. Not a big deal, however a month on the items are still listed. I tried buying them again and they still are out of stock...

Sorry, I thought this was a joke - being an M&S superfan and being angry about this issue. I like M&S, I buy stuff there sometimes, but it's such a mild place I can't imagine it inspiring such extreme emotions either way. Feels a bit being a super fan of Christian rock music or something!

Not had this with M&S, but had it with Dorothy Perkins a couple of years ago. But, rather than the insufficient stock become apparent before check out, they actually processed my order, took my money, told me about 5 days later there wasn't any stock, and that I'd get my refund in 21 days. Was livid, fam.

Yeah, I gave up on the sale because of the same thing. John Lewis also makes you actively tick a box to exclude out of stock items - why would people want to see those?

Totally agree with you it's super annoying. I've had this loads with sale and non sale items. Really crappy website basically.

I had the same thing happen to me, not good it should be clearer when a item is out of stock!
Another thing that was annoying, I wanted a school pinafore for my granddaughter. It was out of stock online, using a store checker a store 15 miles away had them in stock. I drove to the store only to be told they hadn’t had stock of those for weeks! I checked again on store checker and they were still there! I asked why they hadn’t removed them as in stock and the assistant just shrugged her shoulders and said sorrry.

I’ve just had this too. It’s so frustrating. I’d put several things for birthday presents in the basket, go to checkout and everything is out of stock. But the website shows they’re in stock still! I’ve given up in the end.
