Has anyone experienced it?
I’m currently sending my head backwards and forwards because I thought “Vimto” was “Vimpto”

EvilOnion · 07/03/2021 23:35

I know the Mandela effect but I don't remember ever seeing "Vimpto" written but the adverts did pronounce it as such!

Bellver888 · 07/03/2021 23:37

@EvilOnion I thought they did! “Vimto” does not hit the ear properly at all

Looney Tunes was definitely Looney Toons.
The wicked Queen definitely said Mirror mirror on the wall.
It's always been vimto though

HarrietSchulenberg · 07/03/2021 23:39

I was one of the many people who swore salt n vinegar crisp packets swapped colours with cheese n onion. Apparently they didn't.

Purplestorm83 · 07/03/2021 23:40

Until recently I thought hamster was spelled ‘hampster’

Bellver888 · 07/03/2021 23:41

Agreed with mirror mirror on the wall I can remember that, never bloody heard of magic mirror

Me too Harriet. I remember as clear as day Cheese and onion crisps were green and salt and vinegar were blue. The colours were switched in about 1992.

OwlBeThere · 07/03/2021 23:43

I get really irritated by this 😂 because most of them are obvious to me. Vimto has never been vimpto!

SlothWithACloth · 07/03/2021 23:44

It used to be only walkers that had them switched then everyone else copied, I’m sure golden wonder salt n vinegar was blue and cheese onion was green.

Bloodylovecheese · 07/03/2021 23:44

The man on the monopoly board doesn't have a monicle....mind blowing Shock

OwlBeThere · 07/03/2021 23:45

@Awwlookatmybabyspider walkers have always had salt and vinegar in green. Golden wonder had them in blue though and that’s why people get them mixed up.

OhWhyNot · 07/03/2021 23:48

Golden Wonder cheese and onion are in the correct colour packets and that’s green. And they used to be more widely sold. Had a pack recently they are delicious very strong in flavour

EvilOnion · 08/03/2021 00:03

I swore blind that Mohammed Ali died in the early 2000's which is apparently quite a common one!

My friends and I also collectively misremember 9/11 which is odd given that we were all together when the news broke live.

rosiejaune · 08/03/2021 00:04

It is "mirror mirror" in the book, so that is not a false memory. They just changed it in the film:

And Walkers have always had their crisp packet colours the "wrong" way round, as I used to buy cheese & onion when I was a child even though my friends didn't like the smell, so I'd pretend I'd got them mixed up and thought they were salt & vinegar because the packet was blue.

DrSbaitso · 08/03/2021 00:11

I think the Mandela effect is when lots of people have the same false memory. Named for the phenomenon of people "remembering" that Nelson Mandela died in prison in the 1980s. He didn't.

scrivette · 08/03/2021 00:16

I thought it was Looney Toons as well.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 08/03/2021 00:19

Golden Wonder - salt n vinegar- blue, cheese and onion - green
Walkers - salt and vinegar- green, cheese and onion - blue

Golden wonder was very much and 80’s crisp, Walkers seemed to take over when out of town supermarkets started popping up in the early 90’s.

Walkers have just got their colours wrong. Not only that they have got the wrong shade of blue too.

Salt and vinegar- fish n chips - seaside - sea - blue.
Cheese and onion - green.

Walkers are just being dicks.

Sort of. We used to have Golden Wonder as the dominant brand, who had salt and vinegar as blue. Then Walkers marketing took over and we got green instead.
MaryGubbins · 08/03/2021 00:29

I was surprised when Ronnie Barker died, about 5 years after I was sure he’d died.

Husband recalls a different ending to the notebook and spent hours googling trying to convince me there was an alternative.

And I’d pronounce Vimto, vimpto but not spell it like that.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 08/03/2021 00:31

@DrSbaitso, You're right.

It's one thing for one person to have a false memory of an event such as Nelson Mandela's passing in the 1980s but. Its very much another when there is a group of people who don't even know each other to have the same false memory. It does make you think "There has to be something strange going on".

Zevia · 08/03/2021 00:32

There is one, your husband must be a terrible googler, took me about 10 seconds to check!

Longdistance · 08/03/2021 00:33

I killed off Jimmy Greaves the other day. I thought he died last year Blush
The crisps thing has always got me and I didn’t realise it was a thing until recently.

I 100% remember this happening! It was so confusing because why the hell would salt and vinegar change to green? It totally happened. No one can convince me otherwise haha
