I do not use Netflix. I have Amazon Prime. Most people I know use Netflix but I am curious to know why beause the two are very similar. What makes Netflix more popular? I have watched over 20 videos on Amazon Prime.

the quality and choice is a lot better on netflix.

Redglitter · 24/02/2021 18:54

I had Netflix and ended up cancelling it. Much prefer Amazon Prime

mynameiscalypso · 24/02/2021 18:54

We have both. There is hardly anything I want to watch on Amazon without having to pay for it. Netflix is pretty much endless.

Stealthynamechange · 24/02/2021 18:54

I have both, I rarely watch anything on amazon prime (use my prime for music & deliveries). Netflix significantly better quality & choice. Amazon seems like there is an increasing amount you have to pay extra for.

IggyAce · 24/02/2021 18:57

We have both and I watch Netflix more. Better choice of movies & shows. There seems a lot you have to pay extra for thru Amazon.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 24/02/2021 18:57

We alternate. Have Prime for a bit, then switch to Netflix for a bit, then back to Prime. We keep meaning to have a Disney month or so in there too.

CheeseAndBaconOatcake · 24/02/2021 19:00

I have both and alternate as to which one I prefer. I found Prime harder to navigate initially but then found The Americans, Bosch etc.

My kids are young adults and the films on Prime are often better for them.

MadeOfStarStuff · 24/02/2021 19:21

I have both at the moment and there’s definitely good stuff on both, but I much prefer Netflix’s model of subscribe and can access everything on their platform to the Amazon model of subscription only gets you access to some of their content, but you have to pay extra for the rest of it.

Jumpers268 · 24/02/2021 19:24

I have both but if I had to choose one to keep, I'd choose Netflix. Way more choice!

Ch3rish · 24/02/2021 19:27

I have both, I wouldn't say they are similar, obviously it depends what you like but Netflix is a way superior offering in terms of the volume of different programmes

Vepul · 24/02/2021 19:28

I have both (and other services) there's lot of Netflix originals I like and it has different TV and movies on, so wider selection of stuff having both.

Aposterhasnoname · 24/02/2021 19:29

I’ve got a months free trial of prime which includes videos. I can’t find a single thing I want to watch that doesn’t cost extra. Netflix on the other hand I got before Christmas, and I've watched it daily ever since.

RubixCubix · 24/02/2021 19:29

We have both and Disney too. I find I watch more series and documentary stuff on Netflix but that Prime is much better for films, at least those that 2 teen DC and I want to watch. Only DD watches Disney.

Prime is also used for the music and the delivery a lot too. DC both have birthdays imminently so they have been adding sugestions to my basket via Alexa!

MissConductUS · 24/02/2021 19:30

I have both. There are a few things amazon has done as original content that have been brilliant, but the depth and breadth on offer on Netflix is much better. And as PP said, a lot of what's on amazon prime costs extra while Netflix is an all-you-can-eat offering.

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 24/02/2021 19:31

If Amazon prime was just for TV rather than deliveries I'd cancel tomorrow. In fact, I'm considering it. Too much on Amazon claims to be prime but when you go to guy it, it turns out it isn't. I also strongly disagree with having to pay more to access some content on prime, plus having the adverts for other shows that pop up before a show you've chosen comes on really annoys me. Especially when, for example, my daughter is watching Peppa pig and an advert for an adult film comes on. It's never inappropriate but neither is it relevant and it's just an annoyance, especially when we watch on different profiles.

DieSchottin93 · 24/02/2021 19:33

Amazon Prime has too many shows that you have to get another subscription to watch things and personally I find the layout horrible. With Netflix at least you know you can access whatever you want on there without having to sign up to a free trial just to watch it and I feel the layout is more user friendly.

MissMarpleTheMurderer · 24/02/2021 19:35

Everything I want to watch on prime is extra and I refuse to pay for it as I'm subscribing. (I'd rather buy it on Google) Netflix you know its included.

Louiselouie0890 · 24/02/2021 19:36

Netflix is getting really stale at the moment though

Doublechins · 24/02/2021 19:37

I find Netflix better for series and prime better for films

VinylDetective · 24/02/2021 19:41

We’ve got both. I find it next to impossible to discover exactly what’s available on Netflix so have watched far more on Amazon Prime.

SendMeYourSpuds · 24/02/2021 19:42

I struggle to find anything I want to watch on either!!

I was looking for a hit 1988 film the other day -- not on either Amazon Prime or Netflix. That's my most usual experience whenever I try to find something I want to watch. No idea how people get good value out of these service subscriptions.

We ended up paying £12 to watch Call of the Wild (HF version) on Amazon (it wasn't on Netflix at all). These searchers were using my son's accounts, by the way. I'd obviously never find value in having my own subscription.

Pinkfreesias · 24/02/2021 19:42

I can't find much that I'd like to watch on Netflix so I prefer Prime, especially with the music and next day delivery. Another one in the mix now is Discovery+ and I'm not at all happy that you can now only watch 90 Day Fiance (my guilty pleasure) by paying again to subscribe!!

tudd · 24/02/2021 20:34

I've got both, and prefer netflix. Wider choice, better user experience and offers suggestions that don't cost extra.

QueenPaw · 24/02/2021 20:38

I prefer Netflix but when I get bored of that I swap to Amazon. Enjoying code black at the minute

Planty13 · 24/02/2021 20:38

Prime is alright but it’s beyond frustrating to see something on prime you want to watch, then seeing it costs extra.

I prefer Netflix content and at least everything you see is included in the subscription!

Loving Disney + at the moment. Mulan was great and I’m rewatching all the marvel movies but I’ll cancel when I’m done.
