I do not use Netflix. I have Amazon Prime. Most people I know use Netflix but I am curious to know why beause the two are very similar. What makes Netflix more popular? I have watched over 20 videos on Amazon Prime.

I much prefer netflix as i know that i don't have to pay extra content. I really liked the crown but it depends on what you like watching.

Flute56 · 27/02/2021 23:40

yes it depends what you like watching. I have watched over 40 films on Amazon prime and have saved most of them in the my list so I can refer back to them and remind myself of what I have watched.

I prefer Netflix to Prime.

A curve ball that I haven't seen mentioned on here is Apple TV+ there isn't a huge amount of content, but Dickinson is great and Ted Lasso was amazing - I'm desperate for a new season to come out

Zevia · 27/02/2021 23:47

We have both, although I'm not sure that we'd subscribe for Prime Video as a standalone (we mainly have Prime membership for the free shipping).

Netflix has a lot more choice and better original content - I'd probably subscribe just for Bojack Horseman tbh Grin

TheyWalkAroundInWellies · 27/02/2021 23:54

I tend not to look at prime much because there have been so many times I've thought of something, seen it's on there, clicked through its clunky interface to find it ... and then discovered that I'd have to pay extra for it. So most of the time I just don't bother.

I've kept it for the free delivery though I'll probably cancel even that soon because it's not going to be worth it when shops are open - there's a lot of shit products on Amazon these days and it's boring wading through them all plus loads of other places deliver now.

MintyMabel · 27/02/2021 23:57

Everything on Netflix is included in the subscription. Amazon’s “free to me” options are pants. Pretty much anything I’d want to watch they want another tenner for.

TheyWalkAroundInWellies · 28/02/2021 00:02

@MintyMabel I really resent paying a tenner to stream a 20 year old film when I'm already paying subscription.

I've actually gone old school and started getting DVDs off music magpie instead. Ok so you can't watch it immediately but if I haven't watched something in the twenty years since it's come out it's no hardship to wait a day or two more. 😀 You can get them really cheap and I just keep a wee pile of ones I've watched going then box them up and sell them back and make a bit of money for it.

MomOfTwoGirls2 · 28/02/2021 00:03

Netflix is fabulous for TV series.

We normally research series in advance, and not just pick something random.

We have watched a regular stream of surperb TV.

Disney is much loved by our teens for Marvel Studios.

MintyMabel · 28/02/2021 00:11

@TheyWalkAroundInWellies

Me too. I have the same issue with Kindle and Audible. WTF am I paying a subscription for if you still want me to pay for the audiobook?

MyDcAreMarvel · 28/02/2021 00:15

@scissy I have just got the just watch app, I had never heard of it thank you!

TheyWalkAroundInWellies · 28/02/2021 01:05

@MintyMabel yy you're basically paying bloody Bezos to be able to buy stuff off him, the billionaire twat.

Pemba · 28/02/2021 02:34

Just checking if you realised that you don't have to have Amazon Prime to be able to buy films and programmes from them?

SmokedDuck · 28/02/2021 02:53

Amazon Prime seems to have more unusual and older shows. But increasingly things I find on there want me to pay, which annoys me. Netflix stuff seems increasingly mainstream, though.

Both have poorer selection than they used to.

steff13 · 28/02/2021 07:21

I have both. Plus Hulu and Disney+. We watch Netflix the most. I have found that some things I want to watch on Prime cost extra, even shows that are older, which bugs me.

TheGoogleMum · 28/02/2021 07:48

We watch netflix a lot more. We have prime, netflix and disney+ and keep thinking we ought to cancel one, prime seems like the most obvious choice as we watch it least but I like my fast amazon delivery!

TheKeatingFive · 28/02/2021 07:54

Films are better on Prime. Series are better on Netflix.

Having to pay extra on prime is a PITA. But there’s a lot there within the package.

RandomDent · 28/02/2021 07:59

My kids are loving the Choose Your Own series on Netflix. There’s so many now. My favourite is the Bear Grylls one.

Scarlettpixie · 28/02/2021 09:04

I have both and watch more on netflix.

I mainly have prime for the deliveries.

I also dip into now tv and disney+ now and again usually for a month or three and then I cancel for a bit.

Overall most of my telly is from netflix or bbc iplayer.

Flute56 · 28/02/2021 11:09

Although you have to pay extra on prime sometimes , I dont min because I know I watch films i like

AlwaysLatte · 28/02/2021 11:10

My boys like both, it really depends on what they specifically want to watch. They've also just downloaded Disney Plus which they're enjoying. I prefer Netflix and iplayer.
