I do not use Netflix. I have Amazon Prime. Most people I know use Netflix but I am curious to know why beause the two are very similar. What makes Netflix more popular? I have watched over 20 videos on Amazon Prime.

Netflix much better for choice but Prime is more than videos

I watch some things on Prime video but use it mainly for free next day delivery and the biggest bonus downloading and playing Prime Music

Actually went on car journey before to Dentist. Playing prime music through the car stereo made me remember the good old days for going driving in your car playing tunes just because you could

Myheadmyheart · 24/02/2021 20:42

I prefer Amazon Prime at the moment.

Aloethere · 24/02/2021 20:43

There is more on Netflix to watch, I also use a vpn to watch american netflix so more there is more there too. I'm in Ireland though so don't order anything from amazon uk and as far as I am aware we have less things we can actually watch on Prime, everything I wanted to watch seemed to cost extra. I got a free trial before so tried it but thought it was very poor.

EggyPegg · 24/02/2021 20:50

Everything on Netflix is included in the price you pay, whereas Prime offers things that have to paid for on top. In that respect I feel that Netflix offers better value.

We have both. I wouldn't pay for Prime TV but it's an okay perk as I pay for the benefit of postage and fast delivery. I pay extra for Amazon Music as the selection on Prime Music was limited. I do find it frustrating that Amazon don't offer a 'one price for everything' price and just market everything at £7.99 a month (and my Family Music subscription is £14.99 a month but worth every penny to keep the Enderman Rap playing solely in DS1s room and not the downstairs Alexa's)

Mind you we also have Disney+ and a full Sky Q package. Never knowingly under subscribed in my house.

PrivateParty · 24/02/2021 21:24

I can't find anything to watch on prime that doesn't cost extra. So, Netflix is better.

VinylDetective · 24/02/2021 21:26

You’re not looking very hard.
Lampan · 24/02/2021 21:29

Prime used to be the better of the two. But now I think Netflix is a lot better than Prime. As pp’s have said there seems to be an increasing number of things on Prime that aren’t included and you have to pay extra for.

idontlikealdi · 24/02/2021 21:30

I've got both but I haven't watched anything on Prime in a good few years. I think Dh watches some football games on it.

WisestIsShe · 24/02/2021 21:32

@SendMeYourSpuds Big and Call of the Wild are both on Disney+

bruffin · 24/02/2021 21:34

Disney now has Star added which is more adult. We have Netflix , prime and disney. I really wouldnt have prime just for the tv, too many you have to extra for

Oysterbabe · 24/02/2021 21:34

I've got both and Netflix is loads better. It's worth the subscription for Cobra Kai alone imo Grin

MyDcAreMarvel · 24/02/2021 21:36

Prime has the Americans, little fire everywhere and Jack Ryan.

Bumblebee1980a · 24/02/2021 21:38

I have both.

Much prefer Netflix in terms of quality and choice.

NerrSnerr · 24/02/2021 21:39

We have both and watch Netflix a lot more.

SisyphusDad · 24/02/2021 21:50

My experience is that I watch Amazon for a few specific things but tend to browse Netflix to see what they've got.

Linnet · 24/02/2021 21:52

We had both, but this month I have cancelled Amazon Prime so now just have Netflix. We could never find much we wanted to watch on prime and when we did you always had to pay more! I felt that there wasn’t any point keeping it as I don’t agree with having to pay more on top of the monthly price.

Ameliablue · 24/02/2021 21:54

The organisation within Netflix is easy better, particularly for children. I found Amazon not very user friendly

SquirtleSquad · 24/02/2021 22:02

I use Amazon for Desperate Housewives (although that's on Disney+ now too since they added Star), Vikings which is absolutely epic cannot recommend enough! Handmaids tale and the Hunters which was surprisingly really really good too. But that really is about it.

Netflix is way better for choice though, the crown, zoo, drag race, 100s of amazing documentaries, American horror story, tiger king, stranger things, orange is the new black, Ozark, Line of Duty, Ratched, suits, breaking bad, mind hunter, blackfish, fyre festival - sooooooo many great shows!!

Figgygal · 24/02/2021 22:05

We have both though barely watch prime
If it wasn’t for this is us wouldn’t be watching Anything on it

melj1213 · 24/02/2021 23:13

I have Netflix and Disney+ because I much prefer the stuff on there and because I prefer to pay one flat subscription and have everything included than pay a subscription and then still have to pay extra for most things like with Amazon Prime, especially now Disney+ has added Star so has stuff like Greys Anatomy etc. I am currently in a free Prime trial and there are only a couple of things I have found to watch that havent required an additional payment.

Additionally since my preteen DD has Netflix and Disney+ on her bedroom TV I dont have to worry about her racking up extra charges buying additional shows/films as everything is already included in the subscription (I am sure Amazon has parental control options to require approval for purchases but I would still not rather take the risk)

FireflyRainbow · 24/02/2021 23:14

We have both. I watch them both equally

justab0utsurviving · 25/02/2021 09:12

I have both and Disney. I probably do prefer Netflix at the moment but plenty to like on Amazon prime.

Myheadmyheart · 25/02/2021 09:33

I prefer the films on prime.

Crankley · 25/02/2021 09:34

I have both. What I dislike about Amazon is a) the extra charges on some programmes and b) quite a lot of their programmes don't have sub-titles which I need as I'm hard of hearing.

MammaMiaWallace · 25/02/2021 10:05

I’ve got both- have only very recently started watching the vids/shows on prime as became a member primarily for delivery reasons, and everything I’d searched for on Prime had to be purchased/rented which annoys me as it’s actually almost akin to Blockbuster prices and feels like a rip off.

Have given it more of a chance and there is some good free stuff on there. Before I only watched Netflix, now it’s split 50:50.
