Why would I need to have unattractive writing on a bread bin

I really dislike labels and patterns on clothes and accessories.
I am in the middle of planning my kitchen and we are going to paint it next weekend.
The the place where I work got a new bread bin and I really want the same.
I went to the range and they don’t have blue or white.
I’ve checked out eBay and Amazon and all the ones I like have bread written on the side.
Essentially AIBU to want a plain metal bread bin

Yes.

LubaLuca · 21/02/2021 09:46

If you get one with a lift up lid instead of a rolling front one, you could just turn it round so the lettering isn't visible.

NewScone · 21/02/2021 09:46

I spent ages looking for a bread bin that didn't say bread on to keep the cat food pouches in

Shehasadiamondinthesky · 21/02/2021 09:47

Why DO they write bread on it, it's obvious its a bread bin. You don't have a bath with the lettering bath on the sides do you? Arghhhhhh

Eleganz · 21/02/2021 09:49

I feel your pain. It is quite limiting when you don't want to have half the containers on your counter to have what they contain in large goofy font proclaiming that they contain 'bread', 'tea', 'sugar' just in case you forget...

Only thing I can say is keep looking and try and keep an open mind on what may work.

SoupDragon · 21/02/2021 09:51

I have a plain Nigella breadbin (I think the whole range is discontinued though). For years it had crisps in it whilst the bread lived in a cupboard.

I'm sure the cats wouldn't mind. They can't read after all!
SoupDragon · 21/02/2021 09:53

There are lots of plain ones on Amazon though.

tywysoges · 21/02/2021 09:53

I have a plain metal bread bin, it’s a brabantia one.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 21/02/2021 09:54

I got a plain metal one from Asda a year ago. It was cream.

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 21/02/2021 09:55

I have a plain breadbin (hurrah).
However my mum gave it me...so I have no idea where it's from!

WonkyCactus · 21/02/2021 09:55

YANBU. I feel the same and it took me ages to find a suitable bread bin. Eventually got one from T K Maxx.

SoupDragon · 21/02/2021 09:55

Wayfair have a good number too.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 21/02/2021 09:56

I can't stand containers which tell you what you're supposed to put in them. I never buy them. We have a roll front Morphy Richards bread bin. I can tell it's a bread bin even though it doesn't tell me it is.

LApprentiSorcier · 21/02/2021 09:56

I've voted YABU because I've just searched for 'bread bin' on the Argos website. 16 bread bins, only three of which say 'bread' on them.

Your problem does not exist.

Except some people do buy those letters/signs/wall stickers so some folk do need to be told.
SnuggyBuggy · 21/02/2021 09:58

Must be worried that people might forget where the bread goes

FunnyWonder · 21/02/2021 09:59

How on earth will you know where your bread is? If nothing is labelled, you might find yourself stuffing bread into the tea tin and rummaging for teabags in the biscuit tin. Very confusing.

freeandfierce · 21/02/2021 09:59

I got one from Asda, plain cream but it was made of China not metal, with a wooden lid. About a year ago so may not have them now. Try John Lewis?

rainingdogs1977 · 21/02/2021 09:59

I have Orla Kiely retro range . I love them and no labels

DavidsSchitt · 21/02/2021 10:00

YABU and dramatic.

Of the first 20 bread bins to come up on a simple amazon search only 2 of them say Bread on them.

So 10%. Get a grip love

junebirthdaygirl · 21/02/2021 10:02

Got a lovely one in TKMax

LApprentiSorcier · 21/02/2021 10:02

If Argos isn't posh enough for you, OP, John Lewis also have 16 bread bins in stock, and only two of them have 'bread' written on them.

Did you actually look for an unscripted bread bin before you started the thread? Confused

WeeDangerousSpike · 21/02/2021 10:02

It's so irritating when you find a lovely storage container set, but it's got 'tea' etc on it. Sometimes they even helpfully put it on both sides Hmm
