Why would I need to have unattractive writing on a bread bin

I really dislike labels and patterns on clothes and accessories.
I am in the middle of planning my kitchen and we are going to paint it next weekend.
The the place where I work got a new bread bin and I really want the same.
I went to the range and they don’t have blue or white.
I’ve checked out eBay and Amazon and all the ones I like have bread written on the side.
Essentially AIBU to want a plain metal bread bin

@2bazookas

Sometimes love goes stale. If you can't live with that crummy breadbin just LTB.

I have a plain stainless steel bread bin. I think wooden ones also come without the word bread on them. What do you do to avoid mixing up other tins eg those for sugar, coffee and tea?

@Shehasadiamondinthesky

Why DO they write bread on it, it's obvious its a bread bin. You don't have a bath with the lettering bath on the sides do you? Arghhhhhh
Shhhhhhhh! some fucker will come up with one and they will become trendy.

When I first moved into my flat, the previous tenant had kindly left me a green painted bread bin with "bread" painted in gold on it. That promptly went in the bin and I keep my bread in the fridge.

Maybe try IKEA, usually no words on their products and good quality

DavidsSchitt · 22/02/2021 13:48

"I keep my bread in the fridge."

I agree that this this trend to put script on everything is infuriating. Even on pyjamas (if not script then some sort of glitter). I tried to think of a possible reason for this, and concluded that the idea might be to help children to read.

I love labelled containers, because they feel vintage/retro to me. I just keep whatever I want in them, regardless of the label.

Some of my favourite pieces of kitchen decor are a couple of containers and a set of three shakers with labels in Swedish, bought on holiday there. They've been wonderful souvenirs.

Snowymcsnowsony · 22/02/2021 14:37

Anyone remember the bespoke breadbin thread from a few years ago?

turquoisewaters · 22/02/2021 14:44

I don't like wording on items either

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 22/02/2021 21:43

My bread lasts longer if I keep it in the fridge, I live alone, you see.

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 22/02/2021 21:45

Bread dries out and goes stale in the fridge.

nevernotstruggling · 22/02/2021 21:52

I used to have a really poncey wooden box type bread bin from John Lewis with no labelling

Caramelsmadfuzzytail · 22/02/2021 23:16

Not in my fridge it doesn't.

waitingforgranny · 23/02/2021 07:09

Just don't get one. Why do people buy bread instead and special coffee jars?

They look horrible and take up a lot of work-top space. Keep food in the cupboard or fridge .

Also mug trees. Yuk

GameofPhones · 23/02/2021 08:19

I put bread in the freezer. It can be toasted straight away without needing to defrost.

@WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll

Perhaps everyone is too influenced by Mrs Hinge the cleaning woman who loves this type of order in her home. She has a glittery SOAK sign perched on her bath
