Not a conspiracy thing..just what are your thoughts on him? So much flying around about farm land, vaccines etc etc
What’s up with Bill gates?

Bainne · 19/02/2021 23:02

What are you actually asking, if not about conspiracy theories involving BG micro chipping the world?

Teewithmo · 19/02/2021 23:04

@Bainne No not that. I’m asking what people think of him generally? He seems to have a lot of haters recently but was revered pretty much until recently?

OP posts:
Brinstar · 19/02/2021 23:15

Don't know much about him, but from what I've seen he a actually seems to be trying to do some good in the world.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/02/2021 23:16

Seriously, though, why the question about him now? If this is not a thin end of the wedge to ask about microchips or whatever.

Why him among the large numbers of ultra-rich men you could have picked?

funnylittlefloozie · 19/02/2021 23:18

Hes a ridiculously rich man trying to spend some of his fortune for the common good. I don't really know what else you're asking- I doubt that anyone here knows him personally.

cariadlet · 19/02/2021 23:22

I think him and his wife have done a huge amount of good with the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. There's a long standing commitment to vaccine research and to fighting malaria. His more recent concerns about climate change seems genuine.

WannaCapybara · 19/02/2021 23:23

I think he and Melinda are actually trying to leave a real legacy in the world.

Have you read Melinda Gates' book, Moment of Lift? It's really interesting, and she is striving so hard to help women in countries where there is such hardship and abuse going on every day.

RaininSummer · 19/02/2021 23:24

I think the conspiracy theories are ridiculous. Bill Gates seems to use his money and power for very philanthropic causes so far as I can see.

Teewithmo · 19/02/2021 23:27

@thepeopleversuswork Oh fgs, don’t be ridiculous, no stupid microchip talk. I’m asking because I’m reading so much about him constantly (not micro chipping!whoever believes that nonsense is ridiculous) I just want to know thoughts and that not everyone thinks he’s some megalomaniac

OP posts:
Teewithmo · 19/02/2021 23:29

I wonder how it must feel though if you were actually, genuinely trying to do some massive amount of good in the world and all you could read was the hate!

OP posts:
OldRailer · 19/02/2021 23:31

I don't think there's anything up with Bill Gates.

I must have missed the farmland and vaccines news stories.

Tbh I've heard more about Dolly Parton and the Moderna vaccine.

thepeopleversuswork · 19/02/2021 23:31

For what its worth I think he's a very successful philanthropist and someone who has used his wealth, contacts and savvy to do a great deal of good through his foundation.

Anecdotally he is also said to be quite weird, awkward and lacking in social graces etc and his behaviour when he was running Microsoft was heavy handed and borderline monopolitistic, but he wouldn't be the first billionaire to be like this.

It's a perfectly legitimate question to ask why him though: he probably is a bit of a megalomaniac: people this successful rarely get there without having huge self-belief. But as billionaire entrepreneurs go I'd say he's one of the benign ones.

OldRailer · 19/02/2021 23:31

I don't think most people think it's true though. The conspiracy theory stuff, I mean.

Yellownotblue · 19/02/2021 23:33

He’s a genius and a visionary, born into the perfect family and that has allowed him to flourish. He’s been heavily invested in philanthropy for years, decades.

Watch the Netflix documentary if you are interested, it’s very well made and compelling. I’ve learned a lot about poo.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/02/2021 23:37

I can't wait for bill to lose his mond after tracking me with his chip ina vaccine😱
He will be bored to death in a week

Teewithmo · 19/02/2021 23:37

@Yellownotblue Poo 💩🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

OP posts:
SchrodingersImmigrant · 19/02/2021 23:38

On a serious note. Yeah, I agree with pps. I quite admire the genious

Teewithmo · 19/02/2021 23:38

@SchrodingersImmigrant 🤣With me, he’d be like ‘Does she ever do anything?’

HarrietSchulenberg · 19/02/2021 23:42

I see him as a very rich man who is keen to share (some of) his wealth for the good of other, less fortunate people. This is what makes him a target for suspicious minded people who can't believe in the concept of philanthropy.

That's just my perception of him. I'm sure someone will be along soon who's met him and reckons he's a knobber.

ssd · 19/02/2021 23:42

I recently watched a Ted talk he did. It was from 5 years ago. He talked about the inevitability of a global viral pandemic and the consequences. It was as if he was describing life just now. He said if nothing is done now, this will happen. And it has, 5 years later.

Well worth a watch.

I just wish he'd go into politics.

HoneysuckIejasmine · 19/02/2021 23:43

He's a clever man who made a lot of money in the last and is doing his damnedest to spend as much of it on good causes as he possibly can. Didn't he Wang to donate something like 90% of his wealth before he dies?

The sad fact is there are so few genuine philanthropists anymore that people assume there's something sneaky happening. We can no longer believe in goodness. Sad

HoneysuckIejasmine · 19/02/2021 23:44

Geez typos.

user1471447863 · 19/02/2021 23:45

I think he should get a Nobel Peace Prize (or two even) for the way he has made all the county leaders agree to play along with his fake pandemic for a laugh or something Hmm. You know even the ones that would say black because their neighbour said white, or would rather vaporise each other of the face of the earth rather than agree on something.

But back in the real world, yeah he's an incredibly rich man trying to do good with it but on a global level rather than little local initiatives that might help a small number but to a greater extent.
He has the money and the global contact to push global level schemes so naturally some will read more into it and concoct baseless conspiracy theories.

Teewithmo · 19/02/2021 23:46

That’s the thing, imagine if you were working so hard to want to improve things and pass on your wealth and all you read was nasty comments, wouldn’t you think ‘Well, F you all then!’ 🤣
