...or items?

Mine have been:

  1. A large transparent command hook that I put on the side of a chest of drawers to hang my hairdryer on (I tried lots of other sticky hooks before but that was the only one that actually worked)
  1. Buying all the same clothes hangers so DD's clothes look tidier
  1. A large kitchen sink tidier which has instantly made the kitchen side less messy

I am on a constant mission to improve our living spaces, so AIBU to ask what yours have been?

pepsicolagirl · 20/02/2021 08:46

well I have swapped my £4 starbucks for a 55p aldi which will probably save me a truckload of money eventually.

I haven't bought much "stuff" tbh. If anything I have decluttered.
I did update our bedroom curtains after a decade and that has really brightened the place up

ooo and I bought a pink sofa! My husband is ...thrilled. It is so pretty and it makes me smile everyday.

Whengodwasarabbit · 20/02/2021 08:49

Wooden swing seat/ nice cushions/ lights
Teddy bear bedding for everyone, it’s lovely.
Tutor for 15 yr old dd
Decent computer for dd
Washable nappy for elderly dog to wear at night, before I was getting up every 2 hrs. Oh and little socks for him too so I can’t hear him pottering about right before he pees 🤣
Board games
Yogurt maker, I was spending £ on non dairy yogurt before
Nice heavy blankets for sofas
Colour coded washable cleaning cloths, I realised we were throwing away so much of single use wipes, cloths, masks
Light projector so pretty looks like night sky and plays nature sound/ white noise/ music / it really is helping my teen fall asleep much faster when she’s worrying.
Decent hand cream

A magic wand.

A magic wand.
Please tell us where you got it. We could all do with one of those right now!
AledsiPad · 20/02/2021 09:02

KitchenAid stand mixer - my dream appliance since teenhood that I could never justify the cost of. Bought using holiday refund.

Ditto the inflatable hot tub, which I realise MN hate but I absolutely love. It is categorically not a sex pond, but it helps hugely with my chronic pain from EDS, and also helps calm DS3 who has ASD.

Also love the pizza tray holder we bought for about £5 in Aldi, which allows us to cook 3 pizzas at once in the oven. Worth its weight in gold and we use it so much! We’re a large family and have a tiny oven.

Also bought everyone decent wellies/walking boots and waterproof trousers last autumn as we could see we’d have nothing to do but wet walks in the winter - worth every penny too!

But the best purchase by far has been the puppy. She’s amazing! Grin

KimchiLaLa · 20/02/2021 09:03

Nespresso and Tesco/Starbucks coffee pods (just as good IMO)
Salad scissors
Arts and crafts materials for DD
Amazon prime!

RedcurrantPuff · 20/02/2021 09:04

Dresses and funky tights. As comfortable as leggings and T-shirts but just feels less scruffy

Namechangedididittoo · 20/02/2021 09:51

It has sensors which will stop it falling downstairs.

Worse and shoelaces are a problem for it, although easier to remove than from a standard vacuum IMO, larger, but light things like dog toys it would just push out of the way.

HarriR · 20/02/2021 10:00

An easel. More paint. It keeps me off the tech a yoga mat. Chocolate, gin. Online baby subscriptions jo jingles. Thank the gods for them. It's the simple things.

smilingontheinside · 20/02/2021 10:04

Depends on the dog toy, if it's small it could mount it. If it's big, it'll go round it.

Sensors stop it falling downstairs. Charging cables and shoelaces are it's nemesis.

Jedstre · 20/02/2021 11:41

Eufy robot vac (I’ve got 15c max). Fleece lined jeans from Amazon (seen on MN)which have kept me warm on walks.

I’m interested in some of the outdoors stuff mentioned so far. Those with a dart board, any you’d particularly recommend for outside? Also swing seat or any great outdoor furniture people are pleased with. Links would be helpful. Thank you.

buckeejit · 20/02/2021 12:00

Also after dartboard recommendations & wondering if they just need to be in an outdoor covered/cupboard type thing?

I've £150 of stuff in my Amazon basket now 😬 and thinking of outdoor hot tubs.

We've not yet got out the table top table tennis but it's on for this avo & think it will be fun. Also Blokus - it's a fantastic game, highly rec'd

TheYorkshireLass69 · 20/02/2021 12:48

are we talking about the same kind of wand, I wasn't referring to the type Harry Potter uses Blush

ConsuelaHammock · 20/02/2021 14:07

SugarfreeBlitz · 20/02/2021 19:06

Working Hands handcream by OKeefes is actually brilliant to counteract dry hands ravaged by constant hand washing and hand gel.

Thanks @Thatwentbadly. I have to admit I wouldn’t have thought of B&Q

CoRhona · 20/02/2021 20:41

Our Robovac arrives tomorrow, purchased solely on the recommendations from this thread.

My first post recommended a hook, hangers and sink tidy, which cost about £25 in total!!
