Most useful item purchased in lockdown

...or items?

Mine have been:

  1. A large transparent command hook that I put on the side of a chest of drawers to hang my hairdryer on (I tried lots of other sticky hooks before but that was the only one that actually worked)
  1. Buying all the same clothes hangers so DD's clothes look tidier
  1. A large kitchen sink tidier which has instantly made the kitchen side less messy

I am on a constant mission to improve our living spaces, so AIBU to ask what yours have been?

@Jaxhog we have a sats monitor and when I was ill at New Year, my low sats prompted a call to 111 and a subsequent hospital admission with Covid. I was well looked after and home in a week. Early diagnosis certainly helped as did my fairly good fitness level - improved and maintained by using my other lockdown purchase of a multi gym.

cheeseisthebest · 18/02/2021 21:53

A massive mains powered dildo

Cailleach1 · 18/02/2021 22:08

-Rubber broom. Read about it on a mumsnet thread and it is brilliant for sweeping the cat hair from carpets, that dyson animal doesn't touch.
-thick fabric umbrella for summer lunches in garden.
-bean to cup coffee machine.
-Water repellant boots for winter walks.
-Headset for zoom calls.
-compact rucksack you can use as a tote bag as well. In anticipation of this summer and visiting museums and galleries etc when life resumes.

MintyMabel · 18/02/2021 22:09

Do I need a robot vacuum cleaner? 🤔

Yes! We have two. Got one a few years back but it stoped working so we bought a second. Then DH discovered why the first one stopped working, easy fix, so then we had one for upstairs and one downstairs.

PatMustardsBigTool · 18/02/2021 22:09

White noise machine that is timed to switch off around midnight when next door usually finally stop screeching. Means my kids are not woken up every night 10:30-11:45pm as their teens go to bed/dog barks upstairs anymore. Yes, they know they wake the kids but the whole family couldn't care less. I'm not bitter, obviously 😆

@LakieLady

The moon lamp was this one. It's not all that spectacular in daylight but it does look nice at night and I find it quite useful to light up my bedside table.

One of those spinny mops and bucket. I can't believe I've lived without one this long!

NotMeNoNo · 18/02/2021 22:20

Sennheiser desktop speaker so I don't have to wear headphones all day

Whoateallthechocolate · 18/02/2021 22:21

Frog bike for DS rather than the heavy one he had
Walking boots for the DC
A new coat for DS which he didn't need as he had a good quality one but, apparently, it was really uncomfortable and I just couldn't be bothered with the fight every day!
Heatgen vests for me and wool socks as I feel the cold much more than anyone else in the house does so we heat it to their levels rather than mine
X trainer which DD and I both use.
All of the furniture needed to accommodate DS moving out of the box room into the guest room and then to turn the box room into a study for me
Cross stitch kit. Surprised at how much I am enjoying it
Subscription to The Times. I love starting the day by reading a few articles
Adding a bunch of flowers and a box of Lindt balls to my weekly supermarket order

Fortunately, we're saving £100 a week on commute costs as the above plus all of the things like extra food (both DH and I used to get free lunch at work) would otherwise mean we'd be broke.

Cross trainer

All those who bought heated throws can you link some?

I got the Alaskan husky design. It has 6 temperature settings but I rarely go past 3. Even without the the heat on it’s lovely and warm

IstandwithJackieWeaver · 18/02/2021 22:23

Yoga mat, step and 5kg weights - I already had some weights, these fill a gap and mean I can keep up with strength sessions online without trying to change my adjustable weights. I've been doing sessions online at least three times a week and feel so much better for it.

Padded waterproof coat from Decathlon - I do lots of walking rain or shine.

Bobble hat with fleece lining ear band - cosy ears!

AintPageantMaterial · 18/02/2021 22:24

Vax Glide cordless hard floor cleaner. It vacuums, washes and drys. Lots of hard floors here and they get done often because they get done quickly.

Giant expensive duvet coat. I don’t like how it looks but I haven’t been cold once and it was -7C on my walk last week.

Fur lined Birkenstock clogs. Although if I take them off the cats try to chew on them.

Salome61 · 18/02/2021 22:25

During first lockdown when we could only drive for essential reasons, I bought my arthritic dog a dog pram so I could push him back from longer walks.

I bought myself a gastric bypass Grin

BoyTree · 18/02/2021 22:33

Hammock
Robot hoover
Giant warm coat
Electric blanket and smart plug socket so that I can switch it on from downstairs 15 minutes before I go to bed
Giant whiteboard - great for encouraging the kids to write and a bonus side effect that they have started helping do things from our lists as well as adding to them!

Cookerhood · 18/02/2021 22:33

Milk frothing jug. Coffee from my cafetiere & frothy milk & I'm happy
