Honestly though, have I been using this word wrong my whole life?! The definitions i found on Google are nothing to me 😕

For anyone interested I take it to mean a sharp nod of the head.

Someone tell me I'm right?

raspberryk · 18/02/2021 00:15

Overseasmom100 · 18/02/2021 00:16

Never heard of ot.

Dunk yes

Donk if i had to guess would say to hit something

Hankunamatata · 18/02/2021 00:16

Crocodile Dundee. Think there is a guy in film called donk

PhatPhanny · 18/02/2021 00:17

Donk, like a coconut hitting your head

Cherrysoup · 18/02/2021 00:19

Donk=what my dog does, donks his head on my leg/wall etc. He’s very clumsy! I’m forever telling him ‘Don’t donk your head on me’ as he barges into me. Bit enthusiastic!

Possibly a cute name for a donkey? A mate calls her donkey ‘donk’.

Are you going to tell us donk is a word we can’t use for spurious reasons, OP?

AlCalavicci · 18/02/2021 00:21

I agree it's a hit on the head or perhaps nose .
It's not a word I use but I've seen/ heard it in cartoons . ( years ago )

anotherwinkywinkybumbum · 18/02/2021 00:22

You've got to put a banging donk on it!

To me, it is a sample you'd add to music.

DimidDavilby · 18/02/2021 00:23

Put a donk on it!

ladyvimes · 18/02/2021 00:23

When I was at school if you were a donk you were an idiot.
Now I would say donk is a light hit in the head, like a balloon hitting your head.

When I was at school if you were a donk you were an idiot.

Yes, same here.

I think it was a mixture of 'Dork' and 'Twonk'?

But also a noise.

Maverickess · 18/02/2021 00:27

Short for donkey, sometimes used in relation to a horse that's got big ears or a stubborn disposition..... Out of the horse world a 'donk' on the head, as in a bang on the head.

WhatWouldPhyllisCraneDo · 18/02/2021 00:29

A knock on the head. Or what Lord Grantham's grandchildren call him in Downton.

PPAK2 · 18/02/2021 00:30

cherrysoup Donk=what my dog does, donks his head on my leg/wall etc. He’s very clumsy! I’m forever telling him ‘Don’t donk your head on me’ as he barges into me. Bit enthusiastic!

Yes I would use it like this also, and like something falling on your head, like a coconut (ouch) PhatPhanny Basically your head getting a bang/you trying to nut your head.

anotherwinkywinkybumbum why does that remind me of Flat Eric? 😂

Donk short for donkey.

Interesting that people are saying a bang on the head: we'd have called that a "twat" where I grew up. Round here that's a word that should never be used. Grin

IsThisNews · 18/02/2021 00:34

Donk = a bop on the head.

YewandOak · 18/02/2021 00:36

You beat me to it!

I may or may not be rewatching it for the millionth time 🤣

A huge penis!

I urban dictionaried it before I posted it so I didn’t embarrass myself but looking over there it seems I’m not the only one Grin

A donk on the head and a twat round the head aren't the same!
steff13 · 18/02/2021 00:52

My first thought would be donkey. But the only time I've ever actually heard it used was as part of badonkadonk. Which I think is like a big butt?

PPAK2 · 18/02/2021 00:52

I'm glad it means the same to a lot of you as it does to me (although it may not seem that way given how i described it 🙄).
Basically my husband has taught our baby to 'donk' her head, obvs she's not going to be nutting anything/anyone just yet so just the action was described as a donk.
For some reason I googled the word and it brought up loads about massive dicks 🙄 Literally never heard it in that way before so thought I'd been using it wrong all this time and felt rather embarrassed Blush

UmbilicusProfundus · 18/02/2021 00:58

I think you must have made a typo when you googled donk. I was looking forward to seeing some massive dicks but didn’t get anywhere with donk. I’d be delighted if anyone else could recommend some good search terms. Q
