Thought it would be amazing: it was cheap and unpleasant

Lotus Biscoff spread. So many people rave about it and how they’re addicted and it’s better than Nutella. So I got some, for the first time, to put on pancakes.

And it’s rubbish: like prechewed biscuits in oil 🤮 I was expecting something brilliant and it was 🤢

Pancake spread with Gu salted caramel spread wrapped around a banana was divine though.

YANBU Lotus Biscoff is rank
YABU Lotus Biscoff is marvellous and perhaps my sense of taste is wrong

I just made my own spread with Tahini ( you could use any nut spread like peanut butter) , Agave syrup ( could be any honey or syrup) and raw cocoa ! YUM

EventuallyDeleted · 17/02/2021 18:53

Utterly rank, nearly as bad as Nutella, which is a shame as the biscuits are so nice.

cinnamonbun · 17/02/2021 18:56

I don't like this stuff either, I love the actual biscuits though

Bodgedboxdye · 17/02/2021 18:58

Haven’t tried it.

I’m not keen on the all the rage chocolate spreads anyway, they’re never really that nice. I don’t even like Nutella. I did as a kid, but it’s gross now.

Goodiebagh · 17/02/2021 19:02

Its nice on toast Smile

ProfYaffle · 17/02/2021 19:06

Ugh - I've never tried it because it makes the phrase 'pre-masticated biscuits' pop into my head. You've confirmed all my worst fears

mantlepiece · 17/02/2021 19:13

I’d not thought of using it on toast etc. I buy the jar and the biscuits to make cheesecake.
Everyone who has tried biscoff cheesecake has loved it, so far.

Belledan1 · 17/02/2021 19:13

My friend made a cheesecake with it and it was really nice but I been good since January so any cake is nice

ALbigbump · 17/02/2021 19:16

I could eat a jar of it in one hit, amazing stuff IMO! Shame it’s so bloody naughty!

ThreeFeetTall · 17/02/2021 19:17

Mini cheesecake: digestive biscuit + biscoff spread + cream cheese = amazing

starsparkle08 · 17/02/2021 19:23

I agree it’s gross 🤢

ferntwist · 17/02/2021 19:25

YABU! It’s unbelievably delicious

NancyDrawed · 17/02/2021 19:38

Biscoff spread on corn cakes (I imagine rice cakes would do, too) with a sprinkle of freshly ground salt is lovely.

Too sweet on its own, though

oakleaffy · 17/02/2021 19:42

Only thing on Pancakes for me is lemon juice and caster sugar..Nutella is boak on pancakes....But lovely on a spoon.

DoveOfPiss · 17/02/2021 19:54

YANBU. I think it's disgusting but my DD 18 loves it in a wrap with a sliced banana 🤢

Harmonypuss · 17/02/2021 19:54

Not so sure about the Biscoff stuff being 'cheap and vile', it might 'taste' cheap but it's anything but - I've seen Manuka honey cheaper!

earthyfire · 17/02/2021 19:59

I agree, didn't like it either.

Tomasinabombadil · 17/02/2021 20:00

I’ve just googled Biscoff, didn’t know what you were referring to. I remembered that my favourite local independent cafe which I last visited over a year ago would always give me one of the biscuits with my coffee, loved it.
I don’t think I would like the spread though going on your description, I don’t like Nutella or Peanut butter either.🙂

Cotswoldmama · 17/02/2021 20:20

Love it, it's best on crumpets!

Ddot · 17/02/2021 21:19

Too sweet but ok with peanut butter

BiscoffAnythingIsTheWayForward · 17/02/2021 21:28

How very dare you! 🧐 🤭 I don’t like the crunchy spread. The smooth one is ‘spoon in a jar’ material! 🤤 😋 🤣 Aldi do their own version that’s not half bad 😊

Leontine · 17/02/2021 21:40

I love the spread but the ice cream I was disappointed in.

pollymere · 17/02/2021 22:33

The specloos paste you can buy abroad is lovely. The nasty UK biscoff is horrible.

Mummyyyyyyyyyy · 17/02/2021 22:57

I agree Biscoff is horrible, a real disappointment.

However, I have discovered Waitrose version of Nutella-it’s scrummy & doesn’t contain palm oil like the original.

ilovechocolate07 · 18/02/2021 10:58

We love the biscuits but the spread got a thumbs down in our house.
