Thought it would be amazing: it was cheap and unpleasant

Lotus Biscoff spread. So many people rave about it and how they’re addicted and it’s better than Nutella. So I got some, for the first time, to put on pancakes.

And it’s rubbish: like prechewed biscuits in oil 🤮 I was expecting something brilliant and it was 🤢

Pancake spread with Gu salted caramel spread wrapped around a banana was divine though.

YANBU Lotus Biscoff is rank
YABU Lotus Biscoff is marvellous and perhaps my sense of taste is wrong

@Bvop, and other posters, thankyou for saving us all money !! I won't be going out to buy some Biscoff now ! x

Gilly12345 · 16/02/2021 20:15

We had lotus biscoff on our pancakes and spread it quick thin and thought it ok, may have to make pancakes over the next few weeks to finish off the jar.

Won’t buy again until Shrove Tuesday next year.

TheCrowening · 16/02/2021 20:15

You describe it so beautifully (in that you’ve put me off ever buying it, thanks!)

KeyWorker · 16/02/2021 20:16

I agree the speed is rank, but they also do a sauce for drizzling over desserts/pancakes/whatever you like and it’s amazing on waffles.

Grilledaubergines · 16/02/2021 20:18

Never tried it be wise it looks like a farleys rusk does after its Ben dribbled on and mushed together by a teething baby.

Grilledaubergines · 16/02/2021 20:18

*because

AnnaBegins · 16/02/2021 20:19

It's amazing but not on pancakes, the two textures do not go together!

Grilledaubergines · 16/02/2021 20:19

And been. Cant bloody type tonight

Elderflower14 · 16/02/2021 21:03

Love the biscuits. Hate the spread....

DrManhattan · 16/02/2021 21:03

Love it !

LookMoreCloselier · 16/02/2021 21:05

You are wrong but as you dislike it, you can make a good cake from it. Use the whole jar with 3 eggs and 2 level teaspoons baking powder. Beat and put in a lined baking tin for 20 mins then add more spread to the top if you have it. Or you could reserve a small amount for this.

LookMoreCloselier · 16/02/2021 21:06

I also add a decent spoon to hot chocolate. Or dip the biscuits into it. I'm filthy.

DahliaMacNamara · 16/02/2021 21:08

Hang on a cotton pickin' minute, rewind a second. What's this about Gu chocolate spread? Where would I find that? Have to admit I don't generally frequent the spready-things aisle.

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 16/02/2021 21:09

Yabu!! I can sit with a spoon and jar and eat it like that. Although I did get the aldi cheapo version the other week and it's no where near as nice as the proper biscoff one.

ToadsThePeanutButterSnob · 16/02/2021 21:11

YABVU. Biscoff spread is the food of the Gods.

NewScone · 16/02/2021 21:14

I hate the actual biscuits so this sounds like a nightmare

Hwory · 16/02/2021 21:14

I have it in my porridge every morning.

I love it.

Also by the spoonful under the cover of night.

Greenevalley · 16/02/2021 21:16

Can’t bear the biscuits so I won’t be trying the spread.

FastFood · 16/02/2021 21:19

It's an acquired taste.
I tried once Biscoff + Nutella on crêpes, and it was like I accidentally opened a gate to heaven, I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and didn't even have to die for that.

ToadsThePeanutButterSnob · 16/02/2021 21:20

I am not a fan of the biscuits but I love the spread.
pontiouspilates · 16/02/2021 21:31

I really wish I hated it.

Toddlerteaplease · 16/02/2021 21:31

YABU. It's divine!

CandyLeBonBon · 16/02/2021 21:33

It's like a sweet marmite by the sounds of it!

RJnomore1 · 16/02/2021 21:34

It’s one of the nastiest things o have ever tasted. I love the biscuits I was so disappointed!

Boxtroll · 16/02/2021 21:34

I don't usually eat the biscuits as I find them a bit plain and meh 🤷🏻‍♀️
However the spread was delicious!! I ate half the jar with a spoon.
