Crumpets and Nutella

124 replies

GreenSlide · 04/02/2021 21:37

I fancy crumpets with Nutella tomorrow, but I can't decide if I should butter them or not. Crumpets without butter feels against nature somehow but butter AND Nutella seems ridiculously indulgent. So WIBU to butter my crumpets before adding Nutella?

@AbsitivelyPosolutely

YABVVU

Crumpets require nothing but butter, and it's a hill I'm willing to die on.

Thank god I'm not alone!

79andnotout · 04/02/2021 22:51

I always butter before Nutella Blush

BlackForestCake · 04/02/2021 22:53

it’s actually pronounced “new” tella

Eggy crumpet.
Like eggy bread, but crumpetty.
Try it.

FolkyFoxFace · 04/02/2021 22:57

I've never had them with Nutella, but it's my firm belief that no matter the other topping, crumpets need butter.

As an aside, sliced crumpets with butter, Marmite, and melted cheese, dipped in runny eggs is amazing.

Crumpets with peanut butter is absolutely divine! Nutty or smooth, it doesn't matter

user686233 · 04/02/2021 22:58

Butter AND Nutella is divine. It's a winning salty sweet combo.

shas19 · 04/02/2021 23:00

Crumpets with butter cheese and honey. Thank me later

user686233 · 04/02/2021 23:00

What's also good is pushing a Babybel into the middle of a hot crumpet.

LadyFidgetAndHerHandbag · 04/02/2021 23:01

You have to have proper salted butter not marge and a good thick layer of Nutella. It is the absolute food of the Gods and you are making me regret not getting crumpets when I was in Aldi earlier.

PrawnPower · 04/02/2021 23:01

Nice dollop of Nutella in porridge. Sometimes with banana. Sometimes with raspberries.

@Santaiscovidfree

Yabu for contemplating eating giant veruccas...

Do you think you may have Trypophobia? (a fear or disgust of closely-packed holes). i have it.

CooperLooper · 04/02/2021 23:02

Crumpets with loads of real salted butter and a drizzle of honey! Deeeelicious.

BeigeFoodLover · 04/02/2021 23:03

Omg crumpets.

With just butter
With Peanut butter and jam
Orrrr dipped in eggs and fried.

I need to buy eggs and crumpets.

GreenSlide · 04/02/2021 23:07

@KeepWashingThoseHands

What is wrong with you OP?! Why are you only eating 1 crumpet per serving? You’ve stressed yourself out unnecessarily - it’s 2 crumpets per serving so 1 with butter and 1 with Nutella. Problem solved and no need to cause widespread panic by suggesting it’s 1 crumpet percent serving; people are under enough stress as it is ffs.

I know, I don't know. I'm actually pregnant so maybe I should have 3, just in case?? Would need a giant mug of tea though, like Sports Direct size.

Butter and peanut butter. Yum.

50shadesoflunacy · 04/02/2021 23:07

You're all bastards Grin I want crumpets now with butter and golden syrup followed by crumpets with Biscoff

Never would I let any kind of pretend buttery 'spread' pass my lips. I'm talking local creamery salted butter oozing into every little butter hole in the crumpet, and dripping all over the place.

But not marmite. Nooo.

With Nutella, absolutely not. But a bit on a buttered crumpet if you're craving savoury? Hell, yes.
B33Fr33 · 04/02/2021 23:17

Step away from the rubella!

B33Fr33 · 04/02/2021 23:18

*nutella Shock stupid phone

1Morewineplease · 04/02/2021 23:19

Have recently discovered sourdough crumpets in Tesco.
Mind /tastebuds and stomach blown.

Redskyyy · 04/02/2021 23:20

Would also recommend crumpets with peanut butter and jam. I would go with butter and nutella this time.
