Crumpets and Nutella

I fancy crumpets with Nutella tomorrow, but I can't decide if I should butter them or not. Crumpets without butter feels against nature somehow but butter AND Nutella seems ridiculously indulgent. So WIBU to butter my crumpets before adding Nutella?

OP posts:

I do lashings of butter and thick Nutella and eat them in bed.

Nemostripes · 04/02/2021 21:51

Always butter with peanut butter but never with Nutella. Them's the rules!

Justanotherlurker · 04/02/2021 21:52

Butter with hard cheese, you will thank me later.

AbsitivelyPosolutely · 04/02/2021 21:52

YABVVU

Crumpets require nothing but butter, and it's a hill I'm willing to die on.

RatherLostPenguins · 04/02/2021 21:53

I love buttered toast with chocolate spread on top. You don't need quite as much spread but I love the combo. I can't put anything on bread or crumpets etc without there being butter first. I have butter in my jam sandwich too. Butter makes everything better IMO (proper real butter every time though, no to gross spread or even "spreadable" butter.)

YouWontBelieveYourEyes · 04/02/2021 21:53

Crumpets should always have butter on them.

KnobblyWand · 04/02/2021 21:54

Yabu for contemplating eating giant veruccas...

This wins the award for the most disgusting thing I've read today.

Redyoyo · 04/02/2021 21:54

Scottish crumpets and nutella, English crumpets with butter!

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 04/02/2021 21:56

Nutella AND peanut butter is the real winner!

Clevs · 04/02/2021 21:58

Definitely both!

1Morewineplease · 04/02/2021 21:58

Why would you destroy a crumpet with brown, claggy sludge???

dawnc27 · 04/02/2021 22:00

nah you want bagels (cinamon pref) with nutella and banana not crumpets

ErrolTheDragon · 04/02/2021 22:00

@Happycat1212

Off topic but I was a bit Confused to hear it’s actually pronounced “new” tella can’t believe I’ve been calling it nut Ella for years 😂 new tella sounds so wrong
Don't be daft, it's nut ella because it's made with nuts. Not newts.ConfusedGrin
wishywashywoowoo70 · 04/02/2021 22:01

No no no.
Butter on the crumpet then Nutella out of the jar with a spoon. Like a normal person. 😁

Jellykat · 04/02/2021 22:01

Blimey, butter AND Nutella every time.. no half measures!

Happycat1212 · 04/02/2021 22:07

Don't be daft, it's nut ella because it's made with nuts. Not newts.

I always thought that’s why it was called Nutella as it’s made with nuts , makes no sense the other way 😂

annieannietomjoe · 04/02/2021 22:15

Defo bitter and Nutella...absolutely delicious!

pointythings · 04/02/2021 22:15

If you're going to eat crumpets and Nutella then no butter is required, but you need to be very speedy with the application of the Nutella so that the crumpet is still very hot and the Nutella melts in properly.

TinyCake · 04/02/2021 22:20

They need to invent crumpets that don't leak out the bottom

KeepWashingThoseHands · 04/02/2021 22:20

What is wrong with you OP?! Why are you only eating 1 crumpet per serving? You’ve stressed yourself out unnecessarily - it’s 2 crumpets per serving so 1 with butter and 1 with Nutella. Problem solved and no need to cause widespread panic by suggesting it’s 1 crumpet percent serving; people are under enough stress as it is ffs.

ThedietstartsonMonday · 04/02/2021 22:22

Try peanut butter and Nutella and thank me later Smile

Krook · 04/02/2021 22:25

Why wouldn't you have butter? Always butter! Apart from in bacon sandwiches.

GiraffeWithSwag · 04/02/2021 22:25

Tomorrow is actually ‘world Nutella day’....according to the winter 2021 publication of Supply Management magazine (pg 48)

I’d try one with butter AND Nutella and then the second with just Nutella then you can make an informed decision from there 👍🏼

Missikat13 · 04/02/2021 22:32

Butter, marmite and sliced mature cheddar here 🤤

Pukkatea · 04/02/2021 22:42

@lunar1 and @AbsitivelyPosolutely you are correct. Any crumpet topping other than salted butter is bad. There are other carbohydrate vehicles for these other things.
