To ask what you heart rate is...

I'm only young(ish), 37. My heart rate now is currently between 70-90 and when walking around the house can go up to 110. Is this normal? I used to be quite fit and exercise a couple of times a week before lockdown and I never remember it being this high

A normal resting heart rate is 60- 100bpm

Soon2BeMrs · 04/02/2021 10:15

Okay so within normal limit. Just surprised me as a couple of years ago I'm sure it was in its 60's

Could you exercise in the house?
I'm doing online classes in my living room several times a week. My rhr is around 60 (even though I'm fat!)

CuriousSeal · 04/02/2021 10:19

I'm 30. My resting heart rate is 56 and it goes as high as 150 if I really go for it when I run or cycle. I have a 3 month old baby though, so I'm pretty unfit Grin

Soon2BeMrs · 04/02/2021 10:22

I've had covid a few months ago and recently getting breathless when walking/running so a bit scared about exercising. GP is booking me in for an ECG

I have a fitbit which measures my heart rate. It's currently 76 which is my normal. I havent really been exercising much with the cold weather ad lockdown, but if I go for a brisk walk/upstairs it can get up to about 110. I'm 54, those figures tome seem totally normal.

Soon2BeMrs · 04/02/2021 10:27

Thank you @Spidey66 thats reassuring

I’m 56, my rhr 65ish but I’ve been walking at least 5 miles every day for about 6 or 7 years now. Imagine it was higher before I started.

CaroleFuckingBaskin · 04/02/2021 10:29

Around 64bpm I'm 56

NerdBabe · 04/02/2021 10:34

50 or 51 bpm. I am 59.

Earslaps · 04/02/2021 10:35

From what I hear, it's quite common for Covid to cause your heart rate to rise- a friend had to go into hospital with it.

I have a resting heart rate of around 50 (can go lower though- quite common for it to be about 45 when I'm slobbing out on the sofa and sometimes goes under 40 when I'm asleep) but it definitely gets a bit higher if I'm ill. If I'm walking around fairly casually then it'll get to about 90, a brisk walk up hill will get me to about 110, then running stays between 150 and 180.

I do exercise a fair amount, and when I was less fit my resting heart rate was around 60ish.

rosie39forever · 04/02/2021 10:35

I'm 51 and resting is 61 with vigorous exercise goes up to 140

jiggetyjig · 04/02/2021 10:40

Your HR is within normal range.
I'm in my 50s and my resting HR is 62-65bpm.If I'm exercising it can go up to 134bpm.
My DD is very athletic and fit and has a resting HR of 44bpm with a max of around 160bpm when running.

ThereIsNoSuchThingAsRoadTax · 04/02/2021 10:43

I'm a little under 50 and reasonably fit. Resting it is 60. When I'm moving around the house it might be around 90. Out for a brisk walk will push it up to 100-120. On a run it will average about 150-155, but peak at 175 when I really push it.

JenIsAGem · 04/02/2021 10:52

My RHR fluctuates between 43-65, I've had a notification once from my Apple Watch telling me it dropped to 30bpm in my sleep. I believe mild bradycardia runs in my family.

JenIsAGem · 04/02/2021 10:52

Should add my BMI is over 30 so not very fit either even tho my RHR is 'athlete' level.

Sideorderofchips · 04/02/2021 10:53

Between 90 and 120

Whatisthisfuckery · 04/02/2021 10:57

I’m 38, walk a lot. Mine is consistently between 58 and 63.

Friendless00 · 04/02/2021 10:58

I have bradycardia and my resting heart rate is usually 39/40bpm.
It can be 27/28bpm when I’m sleeping. I was due to get a pacemaker pre-covid but I’m still waiting.
I pass out frequently and can’t stand in a queue for longer than a minute before I feel lightheaded and get the ringing in my ears.

Hotcuppatea · 04/02/2021 11:01

I've always had a low resting heart rate. My Garmin tells me that its usually somewhere between 38 and 44 bpm. I'm 50. Reasonably fit but no athlete.

Chanjer · 04/02/2021 11:02

I possibly had covid fairly early on in the pandemic but found the return to exercise very hard and my breathing and heart rate had gone crazy, any exercise felt like an incredible amount of work for my body. It went back to normal in a few weeks though

LindaEllen · 04/02/2021 11:25

My resting heart rate is 64, but I'm very unfit so it does go quite high when I attempt to exercise!! I know from going to the gym in the past that this does improve, but this past year has killed me tbh.

Aiaiaicorona · 04/02/2021 12:51

Mine has been exactly the same OP since I had Covid. It can go up to 130/140 and resting is usually 80-90. I’m 37 too. My ECG was normal.

TrickyD · 04/02/2021 12:55

I have a pacemaker which is set to keep me between 50 and 120. I usually am around 80-88.

safefacespace · 04/02/2021 12:56

59 right now
