To ask what you heart rate is...

I'm only young(ish), 37. My heart rate now is currently between 70-90 and when walking around the house can go up to 110. Is this normal? I used to be quite fit and exercise a couple of times a week before lockdown and I never remember it being this high

My resting heart rate is 40bpm. I'm getting a pacemaker fitted tomorrow morning.
I'd say yours is within the normal range of 60-100bpm, but get checked by your Dr if you're concerned

Imloosingmyshit · 04/02/2021 13:32

Resting 66. Can go down to 52. Exercising up to peak 173/174 5 times a week. And I’m still not loosing weight :(

notanothertakeaway · 04/02/2021 13:36

76

Aprilx · 04/02/2021 13:57

I am 50 and my resting heart rate is between 55-60, I am overweight and not fit. If I go for a brisk walk it would be up to 110.

Strokethefurrywall · 04/02/2021 13:58

RHR between 48-56. During exercise up to 180. I'm 41 but I exercise like a fiend so am pretty fit.

40somethingJBJ · 04/02/2021 14:12

Just checked mine, as I’m about as rested as possible right now (lying down!!) and it’s 71bpm. Mine tends to run quite high at the best of times.

99victoria · 04/02/2021 14:15

I'm 59, reasonably fit, run and weight train regularly. My Fitbit measures my resting heart rate at 54 or 55 most days. It's been as high as 60 on 3 occasions since the beginning of December 2020

Soon2BeMrs · 04/02/2021 14:18

@Aiaiaicorona

Mine has been exactly the same OP since I had Covid. It can go up to 130/140 and resting is usually 80-90. I’m 37 too. My ECG was normal.

I honestly think that covid has something to do with it, do you get breathless when walking or doing simple tasks

Tehmina23 · 04/02/2021 14:22

I'm fairly unfit & my resting heart rate is approx 77-85

Tehmina23 · 04/02/2021 14:23

I've have meds that can affect my heart so I have at least yearly ecgs

NooneElseIsSingingMySong · 04/02/2021 16:07

Yes as pp say, “normal” is 60-90ish. There’s a difference between resting HR and active HR.

Last year I was really ill (may or may not have been Covid, it was March when only hospitalised people were tested). Due to a change in my meds and decreased activity my average resting HR was high, about 95. I’ve gradually increased my activity so my resting HR is now 72. It still peaks at 120+ when I do strenuous exercise.

If you think of it biologically, the heart’s strength is due to its muscles. The more you work it, the stronger the muscles become, the more efficient it is - therefore the less frequently it has to beat to pump blood around the body. Your increase in HR is likely down to the lack of physical activity/fitness. Obviously it’s sensible to get it checked out but it should come down as you gradually get more active again.

Soon2BeMrs · 04/02/2021 16:14

@NooneElseIsSingingMySong that's helpful. I'm going to start trying to increase my fitness again, starting with some brisk walking I think.

Does anyone know how long it would take for HR to come down once you start getting fitter abs vice versa if you stop excersing

AuntyMabelandPippin · 04/02/2021 16:24

I'm 58 and have a RHR of 63-65. That can easily go up to 170 when I exercise, but goes down quickly, which (I've been told) is supposedly a sign I'm pretty fit. I do quite a lot of exercise.

ItWasntMyFault · 04/02/2021 16:25

I'm 52 and overweight, my RHR is 58.

Moxxi · 18/04/2021 15:51

Hey guys I know this isn't my post. I'm not sure how to make my own 🥺. Please help me.

My resting heart rate is anywhere from 96-110, it drops to 80 when I'm sleep. People say check your HR first thing in the morning before getting out of bed mine is 104...am I going to die :'( I have had ecgs and been told it's just normal for me. I have started running and my HR gets to 172, I'm absolutely terrified that I'm going to strain my heart and it'll wear out :'( I'm also scared that running isn't going to change my resting heart rate. I have only been doing it for 9 weeks and haven't noticed a single change. Will I ever been able to be happy :(

pointythings · 18/04/2021 16:00

I'm 53 and mine sits at around 70. When I was a competitive fencer in my 20s and 30s it was much lower, but life. Also if you had asked me this an hour ago it would have been a lot more, because I was heaving two halves of a very sturdy ottoman bed up the stairs by myself. I am still pretty strong.

ThornAmongstRoses · 18/04/2021 16:18

Im 37 and my previous normal resting pace was 85-90 but as I suffered from palpitations and had had two episodes from SVT I was started on beta blockers and my resting rate is now about 70.

ThornAmongstRoses · 18/04/2021 16:20

I also used to suffer from anaemia which made my heart rate fast as well.

Svolvaer · 18/04/2021 16:26

I’m 67 and so unfit, I literally never exercise because I hate it. Walking the dog round the block is as far as I go. My RHR is 57ish - goes up to about 100 when I dog walk.

Daphnise · 18/04/2021 16:27

There seem to be some very low heart rates on here.
Mine is about 80, steady.

itsgettingwierd · 18/04/2021 16:27

According to my Apple Watch.

65 resting
73 currently
Walking average 101.

I'm actually quite unfit so I'm surprised it passes as normal Grin

Wotsitsarecheesy · 18/04/2021 16:32

My resting HR is currently around 75bpm. I have high blood pressure, controlled by medication and am overweight. Resting HR has been as high as 80bpm. When I have been doing lots of daily exercise it has come down to late 60s. Sat here in my chair, having sat down 5 minutes ago, it's 93 bpm.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 18/04/2021 16:37

I’m 48 and my Fitbit tells me my resting heart rate varies from 59 - 64.

marshyindigo · 18/04/2021 16:41

55-60 (33)

marshyindigo · 18/04/2021 16:42

(And I do next to no exercise -but am slim- apart from walking, no idea why, it's always been low)
