I enjoy watching the Marvel movies but have found Iron Man
annoying since Ultron Its not RDJS fault at all Its the character.
He is just too smug and snarky.
I felt like he was the real villain in civil war.
he just always thinks he knows best for everyone(I cant stand people like this in real life) and though I enjoyed his story I am glad the character is gone
I thought about posting this in the movies thread but I thought this would be best place to ask.

quarentini · 23/01/2021 11:37

Bruce Banner and Black panther........... That's a 3 way I would seriously consider 😀

LucasLeesEyebrows · 23/01/2021 11:37

@Sickoffamilydrama

Okay so I may have had 2 whole glasses of Wine...which is 2 more than normal!

But there's very few of the men not Spiderman he's a child who I would say no get out of my bed...isn't that the idea though!

One of the mums at school was asking my DD9 if she likes Marvel (her son loves it) and DD said “Not really”. The mum gave me a knowing wink and said “Oh, give it a few years!” I wanted to high-five her 🤣 Marvel is seriously all the hotness; Antman, Loki, Thor. Captain America is my personal favourite! Chris Evans is just chef’s kiss!
LucasLeesEyebrows · 23/01/2021 11:42

I forgot Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio YUM!

NatashaAlianovaRomanova · 23/01/2021 11:42

@Brightermornings

Even fat Thor would get it Smile

I think I prefer fat Thor - at least he'd have nachos & beer for after Grin

Plussizejumpsuit · 23/01/2021 11:42

No you're not he is a dick! Elon musk type!

SciFiScream · 23/01/2021 11:49

Love the all.

Sickoffamilydrama · 23/01/2021 13:11

Seems like lots of people don't like Captain America so it's alright I'll take him off all your hands for free Wink

Skatastic · 23/01/2021 13:15

He is meant to be annoying! He is a billionaire playboy he doesnt give a shiny fuck if he is irritating. That's why I love him so so much. Dont even pretend you wouldn't want to be his mate if Iron Man was real!

Skatastic · 23/01/2021 13:16

Also - Captain America is perfect but boring, just like Superman whoever said that.

And Thor is just. Well. Cannot wait for the new film to come out.

Eleganz · 23/01/2021 13:23

Tony Stark is a character for nerdy boys and men. He is cool in that he is a genius, wealthy and physically attractive. They love it.

I find him to be a narcissistic sociopath with a very poor attitude towards women. His wealth and privileged mean he is surrounded by enablers to his shitty behaviour, Pepper Pots chief among them. He improves as he takes on the role of Ironman, but not much. Pepper at least learns to stand up to him more but she is still fucked up enough to believe he is capable of properly loving her.

Deeply flawed character, but actually more interesting for it. Seems to be the way we need our superheros to be these days. I mean of we have fat wallowing Thor then anything goes.

Livpool · 23/01/2021 13:39

100% Thor - especially in Ragnorak and Infinity War 😍

SpiderGwen · 23/01/2021 13:44

It took waaaaaay to long for a good display of Hulk adoration. Banner is my number one crush. Love Ruffalo.

Stark’s a horrendous person at the start and goes through an incredible arc of development. RDJ’s a charming mofo who can carry such a narcissist and get (most) people to care.

Obviously Spider-man is an adorable wee lad that my daughter is rightly besotted by, Mysterio was my favourite villain since Loki, and Wanda is bloody marvellous. I adore Thor (when fat and when hot.)

MCU is the gift that keeps on giving.

GrandTheftWalrus · 23/01/2021 15:18

I love loki. I'd have him any day

MyGorramShip · 23/01/2021 15:26

I didn’t like Tony until IW/Endgame.

Still wouldn’t shag him though, seems like the arrogant type that thinks no foreplay and two pumps is enough.

Bruce
Wanda
Black Widow
Vision
Loki
Thor

CuriousaboutSamphire · 23/01/2021 15:31

I think that's how you are supposed to see him!

They all have their character flaws. They were all written to be imperfect, usually in some way doamterically opposed to their character/hero trait, like strong and dim.

That's how they were originally written back in the 40s and on into the Silver Age of the 50s and 60s... and even now through the Modern Age and beyond!

No, not a fan of the comics, not me Smile

Rocket3000 · 23/01/2021 15:35

I love marvel, hence my username! Iron man is one of my favourites and has been from the very start. He's flawed but he knows it. Captain America is too perfect, which I find annoying. Zero personality.
I'm pretty sure the director of the original Iron Man based Tony Stark on Elon Musk. He appears as a cameo in Iron Man 2.

MaryLennoxsScowl · 23/01/2021 15:56

What Eleganz said. Tony Stark is a wanker. The first film is good, but the second and third are increasingly terrible in plotting and dialogue. I went to the loo in the cinema rather than watch the final showdown in the third one - talk about deus ex machina, plus it was like the third usage of that plot twist in one film! None of them have any decent roles for women and they don’t even pass the Bechdel Test; Pepper Potts is a complete drip who can’t wait to get rid of any powers she gets and should have dumped him years ago. In the third one she makes him get rid of all the suits (was I the only one wondering why he couldn’t have recycled them?) and then in the next film he has a load of suits again and no mention is made of his agreement to get rid of them! Imagine the AIBU on here?

In more important musings: Loki all the way! Thor, Falcon, Hawkeye all YY. Cap - maybe, though agree he’s a bit dull. Iron Man: no way, you’d catch an STD for a start. Not attracted to Antman and honestly found the film even sillier than the others and couldn’t take it seriously. Possibly unusually liked Ed Norton’s Hulk better than Mark Ruffalo’s (more tortured) but the rest of the film was crap. MR just doesn’t do it for me. Starlord is too silly - love the films but he’s too Andy from Parks & Recs to fancy!

OfaFrenchmind2 · 23/01/2021 15:56

I like Tony, but he is a fuck up. Out of all the MCU, he is the one mostly responsible for his own villains. Once it caught up to him with Ultron, he dealt with his unbearable arrogance and personal guilt by supporting a very bad Accord, led by a shady general that tormented his good friend Bruce Banner, used a child soldier who would have fared awfully under the same Accords (but that's alright, he gave him money...), and was altogether a self-righteous prick.
Cap is a snarky old man with a great moral compass and America's ass. What is not to love?

AccidentallyOnPurpose · 23/01/2021 16:08

In movies it's boring tedious.

In real life it would be even more tedious and you'd always be on a "lower" level than him , because every human being can be dick, selfish or morally dubious at some point or another.

At least with Tony Stark you could make yourself feel better you're more decent than he is and have more emotional intelligence.

SanFranBear · 23/01/2021 17:46

This description is perfect Grin

Seems like the arrogant type that thinks no foreplay and two pumps is enough

lovecraftcounty · 23/01/2021 18:31

We all seem to gotten distracted a bit haha!
I know the Elon musk comparison which is weird.cos I dont hate musk but then I dont know him.
Partly I'm jealous of both their riches and lifestyle ofc

@Sickoffamilydrama 😂😂😂😂

MrsMarrio · 23/01/2021 20:59

Yeah stuck up his own arse iron man is deffo not my favourite superhero, his only redeeming story arc was his death

TurquoiseDragon · 23/01/2021 21:15

I thought Tony Stark was too arrogant, didn't like him much, even with the noble sacrifice. And War Machine seemed quite sanctimonious.

Captain America seemed so boring (although DD thought he was hot).

But if we're talking about hotness, then I have to put Bucky Barnes at the top of the list. Followed by Loki (although you couldn't trust him). And perhaps Thor up there as well (though I generally don't prefer blonds).
