I enjoy watching the Marvel movies but have found Iron Man
annoying since Ultron Its not RDJS fault at all Its the character.
He is just too smug and snarky.
I felt like he was the real villain in civil war.
he just always thinks he knows best for everyone(I cant stand people like this in real life) and though I enjoyed his story I am glad the character is gone
I thought about posting this in the movies thread but I thought this would be best place to ask.

Yeah he’s kind of meant to be a know it all, and I certainly wouldn’t want to be married to him.. But I might still have had a bit of a blub at the ending 😢
Captain America is kind of more my type (I kind of like the whole old fashioned gentleman vibe..)

mrsanflowerpot · 22/01/2021 23:03

YABVU. Iron man -> the journey -> love you 3000. Yep I buy into anything, but I still need tissues when I watch now.

Dogscanteatonions · 22/01/2021 23:05

Can we also mention Hawkeye?. Hell yeah.

indemMUND · 22/01/2021 23:06

I love an arrogant bastard (bad taste in men), but his character arc played out well and I did cry my eyes out. Loki though... ugh, sold. A Thor and Loki sandwich with a side of Black Widow 👌🏻

Lou98 · 22/01/2021 23:07

@FeckTheMagicDragon

I may just have bad taste in men but Iron Man and Thor are my two favorites. The arrogance may be part of the attraction.

I agree, I loved the two of them!

Couldn't stand Capt America though!

Sickoffamilydrama · 22/01/2021 23:12

@FrangipaniBlue I'm afraid I'm not with you on that , although they are very hot I honestly wouldn't know what to do with a woman, I'm sure I'd work it out if I was inclined to.

But think I'll stick with a penis as I have much more practice in handling one Wink

12frogsincoats · 22/01/2021 23:14

Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner tho...Too sexy

lovecraftcounty · 22/01/2021 23:14

@LemonInPlay
My mistake lol Grin

motherofawhirlwind · 22/01/2021 23:14

Dogscanteatonions nope, because he's already taken, sorry. I love a man with a bow.

LochJessMonster · 22/01/2021 23:16

@Dogscanteatonions

Can we also mention Hawkeye?. Hell yeah.
Especially when he goes all rogue and gets a Mohawk!
Doowninthedumps · 22/01/2021 23:16

I always thought of the character as a "lovable rogue". If it was someone in my life I'd find that sort of personality very grating in general, too arrogant and never takes anything seriously with the cutting comments that I would find quite mean.

Saying all that ^ I actually really liked his character, you get to see the softer side and the pain behind the jokey façade and that under the arrogance is a man who truly cares about the world and how he affects(effects? arrg!) it.

I cried hard at the end, I'm gonna miss Tony Stark. I felt really sorry for his family (his poor wee girl! Loved their interactions and thought he was a good dad setting his girl up to have a damn good sense of humour and resilience), and will miss his stuff with Spider Man.

(an aside - I think Tom Holland seems like a very sweet young man IRL and think the casting for Spider Man was brilliant!)

Agree that I may be slightly biased because I think RDJr was rather lovely looking! He's a bit too old for me really but still...

Is it just me or did he look a bit ill in the last 2 films?

frostymornings · 22/01/2021 23:16

@Langsdestiny

I find it hard to be objective. I wanted to do naughty things with him.
GrinGrinGrinI have to agree
lovecraftcounty · 22/01/2021 23:19

One thing I never liked was how despite fame billions ,genius skills and a super suit he never seemed happy about it.

Catmaiden · 22/01/2021 23:20

Black Widow is hot. Just saying Wink

Catmaiden · 22/01/2021 23:22

And yes, #TeamHawkeye, here.

Indecisive12 · 22/01/2021 23:23

I feel this way but also love his relationship with Spider-Man so I’m a bit torn.

FoofOfTheWalkingDead · 22/01/2021 23:26

Can't stand Tony Stark (or RDJ) too up himself. But Thor... Chris Hemsworth is my free pass with DHGrin.

exLtEveDallas · 22/01/2021 23:31

It’s his arrogance that I like I think. Although in real life I’d hate him! On screen it just seems to work.

On the other hand Dr Strange is arrogant as well, but with him it just irritates.

Cant stand Cap, not keen on Thor, Loki would get it (twice). I’d play with Heimdall for a bit and have a boogie with Quill.

(Can I deviate? Deadpool hell yeah)

Doowninthedumps · 22/01/2021 23:32

They are all beautiful people but as a PP pointed out that's kind of part of the point Grin

My tenuous claim to fame is that I used to know someone who used to know Karen Gillan from school! Yeay for the lassie from the Highlands making it big! Grin

Mark Ruffalo seems like a decent guy and that ups the attractiveness stakes for me! Same with Cumbersnatch because he seems quite sweet to his wife on the red carpets ha ha!
I kind of fancy Thor because apart from the obvious gorgeousness I think his character is quite sweet if a little gung ho, he does get a lot of brilliant lines!

I kept wondering when Captain Marvel would show up and save the day "Come on Carol, where are you?!" and I know it was a shameless aim for the feminist money when they did the whole all the women gathering together to fight of Thanos' army bit "she's not alone" and all that but it did actually give me a bit of a warm glow.

Honestly if they did an all women super hero film they could just take my money!

Weirdly I don't like Jeremy Renner at all. I don't know why but he gives me arsehole vibes - sorry JR!

Sorry for the derail just to add my voice to the everyone is hot brigade ha ha!

lovecraftcounty · 22/01/2021 23:32

@Indecisive12
I kno I have lost control of this thread but
Why did you like his relationship with spiderman?
Seemed controlling and too much off screen for me?

OP posts:
CuriousSeal · 22/01/2021 23:37

YABVU! Iron Man is my favourite character but Thor is my favorite to look at...He was arrogant, but ultimately he cared about the world, was the brains behind the operation and had an interesting dynamic with a lot of different characters.

Captain America is a self righteous twonk. I feel like they tried very hard to give CA a personality while being true to his character but he is just so boring. Also, the way he pined for Sharon Carter throughout was very annoying - they barely dated.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 22/01/2021 23:38

Me too OP! i love all The Avengers films but have never watched the Iron Man trilogy in full.

butteredbarmbrack · 22/01/2021 23:40

Not an Ironman fan. We've been working through the MCU movies in lockdown, at the urging of DD2 (aged 13) and enjoyed most of them including the first Ironman. Ironman 2 though, DD1 and I looked at each other about half way through and agreed we weren't bothered about watching to the end - we skipped Ironman 3 altogether. Ant man, Thor and Captain Marvel have probably been my favourites so far.

StylishMummy · 22/01/2021 23:48

I would willingly succumb to any of the following;

Iron man
Thor
Captain America
Falcon
Bruce banner (not green)
Black widow
Nick Fury
Hawkeye
The Wasp
Captain Marvel
Dr Strange
Black Panther

Quite honestly - the chemistry between the core avengers is guaranteed to put me in the mood any time of day Blush

CherryValanc · 22/01/2021 23:51

I'm with you @lovecraftcounty, don't like him at all. He improved enough so that I wasn't happy he died and was just indifferent.(Unlike the man sitting next to me in the cinema, he took it very, very badly.)

My DS thinks I'm unreasonable for my opinion but I just can't help it, Tony Stark was a dickhead.
