To want to go to Markies for picky bits

Agirlnamedsam · 09/01/2021 14:15

I’ve not been in a shop since the beginning of December. Been wfh and only been out to go to the park with DS or go for a walk.

We have been using Tesco click and collect, but I want to go to Markies and get some picky bits / afternoon tea for lunch tomorrow.

DH thinks I’m being a bit silly as it’s not necessary travel: and that we should be avoiding shops. He’s happy for us to get something delivered or to collect something. But I’m just a bit fed up and want to go and select some nice bits and pieces.

Really no one ever has an essential need to go to M and S. I doubt many do their whole weeks shopping there.

Hold my organic, free range couscous.

spaceghetto · 09/01/2021 22:19

Threads like these remind me of school. I would be called a name by one person and this would then be copied by another and another. Each person thought they were witty and part of some elite group, even though they'd just said the exact same thing. This behaviour is what makes me shudder.

JaceLancs · 09/01/2021 22:23

If food shopping cheers you up go for it
I get bored easily so every few weeks do an M n S shop or Waitrose just to make a change from Tesco and Sainsbury’s
Lucky to live in a Booths area so go there as well at least once a week
Hate the judgemental types re shopping
I am shopping for DP (shielding) elderly DM and elderly NDN as well as my own household - they don’t all ask me to go at same time so just fit it in when I can

Smiledwiththerisingsun · 09/01/2021 22:24

Hmmm think I'd have said "canapés at Marks & Sparks" 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

HuckfromScandal · 09/01/2021 22:24

Scottish here,

Call it Markies
Call them picky bits,

The rest of you up your own arses bitches can all fuck off to the far side of fuck. Jeezo, what a nasty sarcastic vitriolic bunch of c##nts you all are, I am actually ashamed for you.

OP - I wish you many long and happy years of picky teas from Markies.

Smiledwiththerisingsun · 09/01/2021 22:25

@Somebodyotherthanme seriously what's Tommy k?!?! 😂

scentedgeranium · 09/01/2021 22:26

I'm lost.

Furries · 09/01/2021 22:27

@Smiledwiththerisingsun - yes, that sounds much more down to earth and normal 😂

Furries · 09/01/2021 22:28

Doesn’t sound good. Where are you supposed to be? Maybe s9meone on here can help with directions.
Smiledwiththerisingsun · 09/01/2021 22:28

@Furries right?! 🤷‍♀️

Smiledwiththerisingsun · 09/01/2021 22:31

People have gotten a bit hysterical meanwhile OP is sat in front of the tele enjoying her pickie bits 😂

Totes agree with you @TJ17

This thread is amazeballs & made me chuckle about eleventy billion times 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Buddytheelf85 · 09/01/2021 22:31

I think there are several phrases worse than ‘picky bits’. One of them is ‘stay the fuck at home’. Embarrassing.

I wish this place had a love button! You are so right 👏🏻👏🏻
Buddytheelf85 · 09/01/2021 22:32

Another one is ‘what do you not understand’.

Campervan69 · 09/01/2021 22:34

This thread is hilarious and horrible in equal measures.

For the record it's Markses around my neck of the woods, or Marks and Sparks. Snacky bits rather than picky bits. And if you go to ours around 6.30 they reduce everything really cheap so you get delicious Markses picky bits but not at M&S prices.

So glad that due to lockdown it is not possible to socialise with the cats bum mouthed posters on this thread. Would be happy to meet the other half for a socially distanced walk and a takeaway Costa 😂😄

Careful, you’ll get lynched for the use of amazeballs! Can I throw in the fact that I’m well jel if the OP has stocked up, as I forgot to put M&S picky bits in my trolley yesterday.

Nom nom nom

draughtycatflap · 09/01/2021 22:37

My cat is enjoying picky bits right now. Not from Markies though. A spider fell off the ceiling and cat is having a right old crunch.

JayAlfredPrufrock · 09/01/2021 22:37

@NaToth

How funny. Is it common do you think?

trixiebelden77 · 09/01/2021 22:38

Loving the people asking ‘where?’

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Really? REALLY?! You had NO IDEA what the OP could possibly mean?

I live in a country with no M&S. I knew what the OP meant immediately.

HOS8595 · 09/01/2021 22:40

A trip to Markies is fine. I’d go there just for a pack of salted caramel hot cross buns!

GreenClock · 09/01/2021 22:40

M & S food sales are what’s keeping the company going afaik. I hope that people continue to shop there! I hope you enjoyed your treats OP, I love their quiche, salads and crisps.

Broadbeanssleeping · 09/01/2021 22:42

Surely life is hard enough at the moment ??
Hope you got a comfort fix OP.

LegoAndLolDolls · 09/01/2021 22:43

OP haven't you got any laminate flooring you can eat? You can rustle up some hummus with blended toilet paper, paprika and salt. It's not the time to buy food.

Seriously I am going to M&S as soon as my isolation ends and I half expect to be tasered as there is a sainsbury's on route.

Robbybobtail · 09/01/2021 22:45

I call it marks n sparks but immediately knew which shop OP was referring to - why posters on here are being so deliberately obtuse I’ve no idea. Agree with pp saying it’s like the bitchy girls at school with name-calling! Sad.

Of course you should go and get some food from the shop if you fancy particular things. Just wear a mask and keep your distance. No need for people to get their knickers in a twist - it is bonkers on here lately.

I don’t drink coffee (or tea). Is it ok to bring to bring a flask of wine?
