Phrases you’d like to ban

I’ll start

Support bubble.

I’ll happily go the rest of my life never hearing this phrase. In fact even the word bubble has exceeded its usage quota for the entire rest of time.

What is yours?

The guardian did a pisstake piece on this yesterday. It was very funny

Diarize
Reach out
Gifted
Pre-load (as a teacher, I hear this regularly as in 'let's pre-load the children with as much info as possible on any given new topic)
Support bubble
Cascade information
Triggering
Anxiety levels through the roof
Clinically vulnerable
Going forward

We’ve forgotten what fat looks like.

How can we love when you remind us on every single thread about weight. Every. Single. One.

Crumbleandcake · 27/12/2020 18:47

Must of/ could of

I honestly have no idea how your grammar can be so poor that you don't know it should say "have."

MeowPurrGrr · 27/12/2020 18:53

Fresh fruit and vegetables! Didn’t know we had a choice between fresh and rotten!

Lunch...especially ‘Sunday lunch’!! Brings to mind images of puffa jacket wearing families descending on the countryside all smug and loud to find a cosy pub to be obnoxious in!

hansgrueber · 27/12/2020 19:04

@Rememberallball

I’d get rid of ‘birthed’ as opposed to ‘gave birth to’ I find it jarring
Most of the newish ing words, gifting, parenting, birthing are a start. I would also like to ban 'myself', it doesn't make you sound more inportant!
Happygogoat · 27/12/2020 19:06

"Name changed as this is very outing"

If it's that outing then the circumstances alone make it outing, not your old name!

MirandaMarple · 27/12/2020 19:12

"Can I get"
Avocado toast. Avocado ON toast.

TheoriginalLEM · 27/12/2020 19:20

Please may i have advocado on toast Xmas Angry

WildRosie · 31/12/2020 17:26

Not a phrase but 'craft beer' is shameless nonsense. I cringe whenever I see it written or hear it spoken.

SanFairyElla · 31/12/2020 17:52

Oh god, yes, "Can I get". Also UK posters referring to any soft drink as "soda". Bonus points for "buddy", which seems to have replaced "mate".

Ditchedtheuselesswanker · 31/12/2020 18:02

Happy days

MumW · 31/12/2020 18:09

Myself/himself etc
As in myself and the family... it's My family and I... or me and my family, if you really must

Bear with..
Bear with what?

Could/would of
Your instead of you're
