I’ll start

Support bubble.

I’ll happily go the rest of my life never hearing this phrase. In fact even the word bubble has exceeded its usage quota for the entire rest of time.

What is yours?

'At breaking point'

  • very popular on here when anyone dares criticise a service that was shit before the pandemic anyway
AdultHumanFemale · 24/12/2020 14:43

Anything that makes the speaker sound like a contestant on The Apprentice. "Going forward", "myself" when "I" / "me" would do, etc.

heseesyouwhenyouaresleeping · 24/12/2020 14:48

"you mean vulva?"

No. I said vagina. I wanted to say vagina.

justgeton · 24/12/2020 14:50

I'm wanting to...

SpacePug · 24/12/2020 14:51

It winds me up when people say "it's like getting into fort Knox" 🙄

PolarnOPirate · 24/12/2020 14:51

‘I have something in my eye’ or worse ‘I have lots of things in my eye’ (as in, crying loads). So twee! 🤢

KatherineJaneway · 24/12/2020 14:54

Yes!

New normal - sends a shiver down my spine

Covid generation - poor kids don't need that label

Covid baby - yes born this year but seriously!

FestiveFruitloop · 24/12/2020 15:02

'Trying for a baby.' Really bugs me. Apart from being irritatingly twee/coy, it makes me pictures someone throwing hoops at a fairground stand where the baby's one of the prizes. (Yes, I do know I'm weird. Grin )

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 24/12/2020 15:08

Keep your eyes peeled 😬🤢🥺

Pythone · 24/12/2020 15:09

"Say it louder for the people in the back" or any variant of it. Enraging.

TeacupDrama · 24/12/2020 15:14

"new normal" the word you are looking for is "abnormal"
"covid secure or safe" life never has been never was safe even at the very best, people died unexpectedly all the time before covid, younger people died of seeming mild diseases that took a turn for the worse, you can't guarantee the safety of kids at school accidents happen, (not excusing negligence) unprecdictable events happen.

turning any noun to a verb " medalled / gifted etc etc" what was wrong with she won a medal in the race, or he got a gift from Santa how is she medalled in the race or Santa gifted him an improvement?

i can think of more but I will leave it

Pythone · 24/12/2020 15:15

Oh, another one! "...and that's okay." So patronising and annoying!

PizzaForOne · 24/12/2020 15:17

Fancy a cuppa(?)

user1471565182 · 24/12/2020 15:18

Just turning nouns into verbs needs to be banned

Lotsachocolateplease · 24/12/2020 15:18

I hate the use of
He/she caught THE COVID
It’s just he/she caught COVID

And written down
It’s in the draw
No, it’s in the drawer

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 24/12/2020 15:23

DoreensEatingHerSoreen · 24/12/2020 15:24

On an evening
On the weekend
On Christmas!

Thelnebriati · 24/12/2020 15:25

''And here we have'' as the first 4 words of an item for sale. Especially when its puppies. You are not an auctioneer just stop it.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 24/12/2020 15:28

Loungewear
I intend to expunge it from my life once all this is over!

Pinkfreesias · 24/12/2020 15:29

Cis.
Karen - when it's used to insult middle aged women.
Anything spelt in an Americanised way with a z instead of an s, like sympathize, ostracized, accessorized.

TaraR2020 · 24/12/2020 15:30

'For sure'

...don't know why but it makes me want to scratch my face off

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 24/12/2020 15:32

"I've been shielding" - can just imagine someone crouching in their house with a massive medieval shield.
"Front line NHS worker" - I appreciate all that you do but no, you are not in the military, stop using this phrase!

TheFormerChild · 24/12/2020 15:48

Not a phrase - but 'opined'.

swissmummy12345 · 24/12/2020 15:49

Hospitalised - It is admitted to hospital.

Not knowing the difference between 'brought' and 'bought' is a particular bugbear here on MN.
