Just that really. I like her. I like how she gives so much for charity and how she put Trump in his place, but I know people's views on her have changed. Something to do with trans comments?? Can someone explain (in really simple language!) what happened? Thank you!

You're not going to get very far as a defendant in a libel case if you can't prove the truth of your claim.

And why would I be a defendant in a libel case?

We have to assume because, you both cannot even answer these simple questions

Since when? The principle in UK law is that you are innocent until proven guilty. Guilty until proven innocent would be an absolute human rights disaster.

The burden of proof lies on the prosecutor in the UK.

To be fair, in her shoes, I wouldn’t go for the libel angle (fun as it would be to get some of the most enthusiastic witch burners tied up with massive legal bills and months of court action). In her shoes I’d devote a tiny part of my fortune to finding each and every person who posted a picture of his penis on the Ickabog threads and get some private prosecutions going for malicious communications. Much more satisfying.

Because you will be standing in front of a court of law after Rowling takes you to court for slurring her brand. So imagine you are a big name in TWAW movement, imagine Rowling too you to court on libel and told the judge that you called her a transphobe when she really is not. The judge turned to you and asked did you say that? You say yes I did. The judge asked why did you say that? Now if you don’t show the judge any solid and coherent evidence, Rowling’s side will win because you failed to prove (you are The Sun, Rowling is Depp in this scenario). What will be your top three pieces of evidence to show the judge she is a transphobe?

It is for the defendant to show the truth of their claims, not the plaintiff to show they are untrue.

This @Belladonna12. Depp (very foolishly and arrogantly) brought the case to court and said The Sun slurred my name. Now the onus was on The Sun to prove they didn’t slur Depp’s name and bean so they produced any number of videos and messages etc to show Depp was indeed a wife-beater. Depp couldn’t deny anything and had no evidence to prove them wrong. So he lost.

Rowling will say: they are harasser and are violent people and here is the evidence. TWAW will say they are not and here is the evidence she is a transphobe herself and we called her out on it so she is crying harassment. Now the judge will ask the million dollar question: what is your evidence TWAW that she is lying about you?

Now what will you show? Tweets that threatened to rape and decapitate her? Or her own words saying she thinks trans men are evil or should I be banned into oblivion etc? What will you show to prove she is actually losing and you are a law-abiding citizen?
