"F**k off, Gav. Nobody trusts you"

Gavin Williamson appears to be now more hated than Gove by the education profession, including school leaders and head teachers, which is probably his only achievement since starting the job.

He actually managed to unite all education unions, including heads, governors and the Church of England to write a joint letter refusing to co-operate with his bonkers mass-testing plan. This never happens.

"F**k off Gav. Nobody trusts you. There is no ‘we’. The good will reserves are empty. Some schools are working today on track and trace from last week because you didn’t let them close; your cut ‘n’ paste guidance is unresourced crap. You’re a bad joke."

The above quote from a prominent member of the education community is in response to an article where he gears up to pre-blame teachers and schools for the imminent failure of the mass testing programme that he wants quickly knocked up on a shoestring budget over the Christmas holidays. (Do Serco not have any of their billions of pounds budget left for this?)

Given the complete breakdown in the relationship between Gavin Williamson and the people he is supposed to lead, is it indeed time for Gav to f**k off?

YABU: No, Gav is doing just fine
YANBU: Fuck off, Gav

Thinking that Gavin's Mum must be on here for that YABU vote to make sense.

noelgiraffe · 21/12/2020 15:32

We know the DfE hang out on here, Honey

They'll be trying to earn their £1000 bonus for working over Christmas.

Ben Wallace should stay as defence secretary, all the rest of the government should go including Gavin Williamson.

Preferably to a prison cell awaiting corporate manslaughter charges.

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 21/12/2020 15:33

I honestly didnt think i could loathe anyone more than Gove

But williamson managed it

Hercwasonasnowball · 21/12/2020 15:33

Who are the 7%...Gavs pals that own a company producing lateral flow covid tests.

ChloeDeckTheHalls · 21/12/2020 15:36

Yeah, to Gav: ODFOD

Absolutely this!
noelgiraffe · 21/12/2020 15:38

10% Gavsters on here.

I hope they're all volunteering to staff the School-Hall Covid Labs. 3.4 million kids need swabbing twice in the first week of Jan otherwise Gav will look a right nob.

He should have gracefully admitted he was shit at his job and drowning after the summer CAGs debacle. That he has soldiered on leaving ever more debris from his stupid and totally foreseeable mistakes boggles the mind. He, and his entirely incompetent department who couldn’t organise an empty paper bag, should step down in shame.

Hercwasonasnowball · 21/12/2020 15:39

DfE email probably circulated telling them all to vote yabu

I'll just drop this in here as a reminder of what his performance management targets are.

This. And charges for the life-long injuries not just teachers, before someone accuses me of that faced by many due to this monumental screw up.
noelgiraffe · 21/12/2020 15:42

Or it does and then looks like it hasn't.

Least they can be expected to do on their £1000 bonus.

Scumble · 21/12/2020 15:45

He's managed the feat of being totally invisible whilst fucking up everything to do with Education.

MillieEpple · 21/12/2020 15:45

I think suing schools for trying to move learning online for one week when they know they have a 70%more transmissible virus going through them with zero mitigation is a new low for the DfE.
I also dont like this send the bubbles in knowing the test only picked up half the positives so the other half can go infect everyone either.

noelgiraffe · 21/12/2020 15:46

That's true, Scumble. He didn't even announce the mass testing thing in parliament for proper scrutiny, he issued a written statement instead.

And then left Nick Gibb to do the media round the next day.

Where the fuck is Gavin Williamson?

OP posts:
IHateThesePosts · 21/12/2020 15:49

He is crap but surely schools can accommodate this with more time and no online learning requirements for the first week or so. The tests need to be supervised but pupils can do themselves. If classrooms are empty and teachers don’t have to provide online learning, there will be space and staff to get this carried out? Am I missing something? (Not being goady, because I know how these threads go, am asking)

Hercwasonasnowball · 21/12/2020 15:51

Nope teachers are being expected to deliver at least 4 hours per day to secondary kids online and have 11&13s in school and KW kids, and vulnerable kids.

TheHoneyBadger · 21/12/2020 15:51

Well said Millie.

Can we please stop sharing pictures of his weird smile dead eyed face? Looking at him makes me queasy.

SantaAssociationRepresentitve · 21/12/2020 15:52

Absolutely buffoon.

Never to be forgiven for thinking it was a good idea to be on holiday during the results week debacle

And why am I not surprised the DfE issues wrong guidance leaflets? Changing return guidance, not issuing version numbers on documents, incorrectly dating threatening letters to councils ...... do they not check this stuff.
