So he’s cleaning the bathroom...

I know ianbu as cleaning the bathroom is always left to me but I had a strop and DH has said ‘fine I’ll do it, it’s not like it’s difficult!’

So in the last 10 minutes, ‘where are the rubber gloves? Which cloth do I use? What do I use to clean the bath?Do we have loo cleaner?’ What do I use on the glass?’ all items are in a storage thing in the bathroom. He has also soaked the floor cleaning the shower screen. I’d be lying if I wasn’t so slightly smug as I passed saying ‘remember to wipe down all the tiles, it’s not that hard!’

Well why are you on here when you should be helping?
Or gilding his medal for him?

Man wants medal for doing One Thing Grin

Are you busy preparing a celebratory meal for this hero of a man?

But seriously, is he always this daft?

BashfulClam · 13/12/2020 16:08

I’m putting laundry away, bathroom is too small for us both to be in there. I will need to praise him like a 4 year old!

@Aquamarine1029 he’s muttering away, he’s actually quite an intelligent guy. His way of getting out of dirty housework is to get the hoover out and that will be his contribution. So I clean bathrooms, kitchen including cooker, tidy, dust, clean windows, put away the washing (although he does the washing) and we both take responsibility for the dishwasher.

He mopped the floor once using the spray mop but didn’t realise the fabric bit wasn’t on it as I had it in the washing machine 🤦🏻‍♀️

Shit just got real, the hoodie has come off...,

So he’s cleaning the bathroom...

‘I don’t like cleaning things...can we get a cleaner!’ If he’s paying I’m game!

In his defence. If you regularly do it, you know where you put things, you know what you use, you know your routine. If he did it regualrly he would know this too. It,s tempting to just take over.

Herbie0987 · 13/12/2020 16:17

Tell him practice makes perfect.

FangsForTheMemory · 13/12/2020 16:18

So what you're saying is he does so little housework, he doesn't know how to use any of the gadgets and doesn't know where the bottles of cleaner etc are?

Think you've proved your point there.

Nottherealslimshady · 13/12/2020 16:21

His fatal error was "it's not that hard!" Grin there is no job I hate more.

Justkeeprollingalong · 13/12/2020 16:21

Me: please clean the shower room after your shower.
Him: Again?? I only did it last week.

BashfulClam · 13/12/2020 16:22

@june2007 he could in the box in the bathroom that has all the cleaning gubbins in it and make an educated guess.

OP posts:
BashfulClam · 13/12/2020 16:24

@FangsForTheMemory he has no clue but I’m making him do this to understand it isn’t really simple and I work full time and end up with the grunt work. If I don’t do it he doesn’t either. I now have a back issue so getting on my knees kills me. So him and his fully functioning back are doing it! Plus if he thinks he’s inviting mil for Christmas then he’s getting stuck in!

That hoodie hung up! Serious business 🤣

Christ yea. He’s so the man. He’s even hung up his hoodie. He means business

june2007 · 13/12/2020 16:35

Sounds like you need a good talk about the division of the house hold chores.

HeelsHandbagPerfumeCoffee · 13/12/2020 16:36

I’m loving you @BashfulClam.
Gratuitous Use of gubbins, just slid in, casual like. And a photo

BigFatLiar · 13/12/2020 16:37

Ha I asked for help putting the shopping away

OH lived on his own before we married, did his own shopping, put it away. Only issue was he just put it on whichever bit of shelf was clear. No system, he tended to know where he put things but anyone else (me) ended up hunting through the shelves.

Exactly, the OP had to start somewhere! Tell him where things are and let him get on woith it.
LunaLoveFood · 13/12/2020 16:41

Have you given him a round of applause for hanging his hoody up rather than dumping it on the floor?

willowmelangell · 13/12/2020 16:42

Wow. Is he having a lie down now OP?

I’m pretty certain that unless the OP lives in a bloody big mansion he should be able to open a few cupboards in the bathroom to find what he needs.
