I know there is a lot of Nigella haters here, but I love her playfulness.

Will you be referring to yours as a micro-Wav-eh from now on? Will it take off? 😂

We adopted it immediately. Grin

Baycob · 10/12/2020 14:27

@Varjakpaw love it 🤣🤣🤣

She's just rocks, doesn't she? Sitting on her posh stairs praising the humble anchovy Grin

FelicityPike · 10/12/2020 14:28

I did & my DH looked at me like I was mental!
I love all these idiots though that think that that’s how she actually pronounced it and not just her being daft.

FelicityPike · 10/12/2020 14:28

Pronounces*

combatbarbie · 10/12/2020 14:41

I thought it was just me that did that hahaa, quiches are also kwee-shays in our house 😂

IntermittentParps · 10/12/2020 14:53

I've loved her ever since How To Eat, where she says in the 'cooking for one' section that the great thing about cooking for yourself is you don't have to worry about other people's 'tiresomeness about anchovies'.

DiscombobulatedAf · 10/12/2020 14:55

I loved it and will be pronouncing it the same way from now on 😂 I’ve never understood the Nigella hate

DelphineWalsh · 10/12/2020 14:56

It almost makes me want to go and buy a micro'wavah just so I can refer to it as such.

We always say pate to rhyme with mate, and we do get funny looks in the supermarket. We forget not to do it out of the house.

ImEatingVeryHealthilyOhYes · 10/12/2020 15:00

Anchovies are the food of the gods. Anchowveys

Handsnotwands · 10/12/2020 15:03

Poor old Joe Wickes' Wensledalay didn't catch on anywhere except in our house

Womencanlift · 10/12/2020 15:04

She is so awful I cannot watch her at all. Although I am hoping that this is shown on Gogglebox this week as their comments on micro-wav-eh will be gold

VienneseWhirligig · 10/12/2020 15:08

We call jalapeños 'jal-app-a-noes' and fish 'feesh''. It's just that daft stuff you do at home isn't it? Like saying Coop instead of Co-op.

AndcalloffChristmas · 10/12/2020 15:10

I think it’s brilliant and I’ll be saying it too!! It’s exactly the kind of thing I’d do - pronounce words as though they were phonetic like that! (Or as though they are Italian which I suppose she was going for , but Italian is really phonetic)

AndcalloffChristmas · 10/12/2020 15:10

I always say “the Coop”!

Sh05 · 10/12/2020 15:12

I think every household has a few of these. My husband always say Mahoney for money and the kids have joined in as well, it was something we started when we were out shopping once and he'd forgotten his wallet and it's just stuck.
I love nigella!

UrghThisIsHard · 10/12/2020 15:15

What do I need to watch to hear this please??!!

EndoplasmicReticulum · 10/12/2020 15:25

I've called it a micro wav eh for ages (pre Nigella vid).

It's like examples upthread - silly family ways you say things.

LisaLee333 · 10/12/2020 15:25

She said she was only messing about, and doesn't actually pronounce it that way. But some people on the internet have been really nasty about here/towards her. Especially on that toxic cesspit Twitter.

ApolloandDaphne · 10/12/2020 15:26

We call Morrisons Mor-izons to rhyme with horizons. It sounds much fancier!

Gardeniaofdelights · 10/12/2020 15:27

It instantly became the term of choice in our household Grin
