To think this person is scum?

Or do you think it is no big deal?

Bloke in his 20's has discovered a "life hack" to get free food, he says. Any time he orders from just eat he eats his perfectly good meal then puts in a complaint claiming the food was cold on arrival. That results in him being refunded the cost of the meal thus getting it all for nothing.

In the comments he brags that he "hasn't paid for food in ages"

God knows how he has been allowed to get away with it more than once.

To think this person is scum?

Little pieces of shit like this will be very surprised when they get their orders refused soon if there are any businesses left...
We had this. We now have 3 names and addresses we do not accept orders for.

Just eat, deliveroo, uber eats and others should have in their system a flagging for serious complainers

MillyA · 08/12/2020 11:09

He actually has the gall to have the post as public.

I've sent it to the local telegraph along with his full name.

Something like this is bound to gain traction so I hope he finds himself up on fraud charges.

He'll be caught eventually, and bragging about it online really doesn't help him. He will eventually be blacklisted by the companies.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/12/2020 11:11

Yes, he's scum. Scum don't see it as stealing unfortunately, they see it as beating the system/the corporates. They think they've 'won'.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 08/12/2020 11:12

Good on you. I doubt he will, but I hope the places will note his name!
All these companies are very quick to issue refunds.

NoPointInWednesdays · 08/12/2020 11:12

Who’s the 8% that voted YABU CF’s?! In times like these restaurants need all the business they can get and I can totally understand if the meal is rubbish but to do that when you have had a perfectly good meal, to a restaurant that is probably already financially struggling is a joke!! Honestly I wonder about people theses days Hmm

SimonJT · 08/12/2020 11:12

When I was a waiter people would do this quite often, usually they wanted their main to be free or they wanted a free dessert and coffee.

MillyA · 08/12/2020 11:13

This is the same person who thought it was funny to put topless pictures of a friends mum on Facebook when they had a disagreement (that he found on an adult dating site)

Utter scum.

Didn't this already go viral and the guy is now banned from ordering food online?

SchrodingersImmigrant · 08/12/2020 11:13

Also, I don't think people sometimes realise it's not the "big Just eat" losing money. Refunds are taken off the businesses. I had to argue with deliveroo few times about taking off money for refunds for issues we had nothing to do with!

justanotherneighinparadise · 08/12/2020 11:14

Prick.

TheQueef · 08/12/2020 11:14

Scum is a bit harsh.
He's just an everyday chancer trying to steal pennies and then boasting about it so everyone knows he's a cheap thief.
Those people are too thick to get away for long.

GreyishDays · 08/12/2020 11:14

There must be a formula that will flag up to Just eat that he does this all the time. He’ll get banned from it soon, surely? Especially if you point it out to them...

MillyA · 08/12/2020 11:14

@IamTomHanks

Didn't this already go viral and the guy is now banned from ordering food online?
Not that I'm aware of, it must be a different person upto the same tricks.

Used to happen in restaurants too, it's not new. Cheeky as fuck though. It also really, really doesn't help when there's a genuine problem in service. I once complained in a bar after appalling - and I do mean appalling service - and the manager's opening line was 'if this is to get me to comp some prosecco for a trip advisor review, that's against policy'.

Erm, no mate, I'm letting you know that your establishment is shoddy AF and I'm not paying for any food that was frozen in the middle and you can shove your cheap secco where the sun don't shine.

HitthatroadJack · 08/12/2020 11:16

It's not new, I am amazed it's still working frankly.

HitthatroadJack · 08/12/2020 11:17

Used to happen in restaurants too
true, but most places are more than happy to accommodate if you complain after taking 1 bite, much less so if you wolf the whole thing down and complain after...

contrmary · 08/12/2020 11:17

He's an idiot to boast about it like this. And for doing it every time, if you do it occasionally I suppose you would get away with it. Do the app providers check for people doing this, or is it a case of individual restaurants compiling their own blacklists? If the latter it might be a while before he gets caught, there are dozens of restaurants in my area for example.

Simplyunacceptable · 08/12/2020 11:19

Our Uber eats order was cold last week because the courier got lost so it was 45 mins late. I complained to ubereats and they gave me £2.50 credit to my account... Wanted all the money back tbh, it was practically inedible.

arethereanyleftatall · 08/12/2020 11:19

When I worked in customer service I was told by my boss to 'find out what they want, give them it (even if they were wrong), get them off the phone as quick as you can and get on with other stuff' . It was so fucking galling to have to say to an absolute bellend 'I'm so sorry sir, please accept this voucher.' You'd know he was crowing at the other end 'customer is always right.'

AndcalloffChristmas · 08/12/2020 11:23

It’s bad enough that he uses the expression “life hack”! Add what he’s actually doing and yes, he’s scum.

GabsAlot · 08/12/2020 11:30

im surprised he gets away with it ive heard just eat are terrible at giving refunds-

cold food they usualy just apologise and say theyre very busy

CakeRequired · 08/12/2020 11:32

To those who put yabu, why do you think this is fine?

cdtaylornats · 08/12/2020 11:34

I knew a regional manager at Lunn Poly and he had a simple policy with complaints - single page letter which detailed the complaint and said what they expected in compensation got dealt with right away and they usually got at least what they asked for.

Long rambling general complaints with ridiculous demands - bin.

coconuttyhead · 08/12/2020 11:38

Does he think this is a new thing that he has suddenly thought of? It’s hardly a mind-blowingly intelligent scam is it - it will be short-lived once he is blacklisted if hasn’t been already.
