To think this person is scum?

Or do you think it is no big deal?

Bloke in his 20's has discovered a "life hack" to get free food, he says. Any time he orders from just eat he eats his perfectly good meal then puts in a complaint claiming the food was cold on arrival. That results in him being refunded the cost of the meal thus getting it all for nothing.

In the comments he brags that he "hasn't paid for food in ages"

God knows how he has been allowed to get away with it more than once.

To think this person is scum?

It's wrong and wouldn't do it myself but wouldn't go as far to say he's scum for it. For putting up the topless picture, yes but people do worse things than steal things.

We had a middle aged guy used to come in my old workplace with big parties of people and snigger to them whilst he did this. The way they looked at him..... he really couldnt see the contempt on their faces. He got thrown out the 3rd time then tried to attack a waiter for 'looking at my wife' (who stayed with the other people inside and left him on his own)

BabySmuffPending · 08/12/2020 14:49

I have to ask for a refund almost every time I Uber Eat a McDonald’s. They always forget something. It’s probably cheeky of me but when I order nuggets and they don’t put BBQ sauces I ask for a refund of the nuggets as I don’t like them without the sauce. I’ve got a note on my account in capital letters reminding them to put in the sauce so when they don’t, I just ask for my money back.

tectonicplates · 08/12/2020 15:14

The thing is, these people would be the first to call the police if they got pickpocketed, and yet they can't seem to accept that they, too, are thieves. People somehow don't see what they're doing as being dishonest, and don't see the consequences for businesses and how it affects low-paid employees. If you lie about something just to get a refund, surely this is fraud, even if unlikely to end up in Court? Where do people draw the line with their personal ethics?

I do wonder where these people work, or what they do for a living.

Why do you keep ordering if they've done it wrong that many times? I've had a couple of companies that have been terrible so I just didn't order from them again.

Other than killing someone there is always worse things than any manner of shitty conduct. Strange attitude.
readingismycardio · 08/12/2020 15:29

What a little, inconsiderate shit.

yetanothernamitynamechange · 08/12/2020 15:40

@VinylDetective Its galling when people are being horrible and unpleasant to someone just because and are then rewarded for it. That has nothing to do with "good customer service"

yetanothernamitynamechange · 08/12/2020 15:41

@BabySmuffPending If its a mistake that keeps happening and you really like nuggets would it not just be easier to have a bottle of BBQ sauce in the fridge? Plus then you dont have to pay for the little sachets when you order

Don’t worry, you won’t be doing that forever 😉 They’ll ban you before long then you won’t have to suffer such an unfortunate fate as no BBQ sauce! 😱
allthewaterinthetap · 08/12/2020 15:50

Of course it's a big deal - it's lies.

I do just use the microwave if stuff is a bit cold. FFS, give people a break.

BabySmuffPending · 08/12/2020 15:53

@emilyfrost

If they’re providing a service which includes being able to ask for sauces to go with food and I’m paying over the odds for delivery then I want exactly what I ask for, same as in a restaurant. If they can’t read the instructions properly then I’m well within my rights to complain and ask for a refund. I don’t order nuggets every time I order so I highly doubt they’ll ban me for their incompetence. So you can take your snide emojis and fuck off 😉😉☺️

emilyfrost · 08/12/2020 15:54

BabySmuffPending As I said, you’ll only be able to complain so many times before you’re banned, so they’ll be telling you to fuck off soon enough 😉

BabySmuffPending · 08/12/2020 16:01

@tectonicplates

Because I don’t always have the car and i feel like a McDonalds. Tbf, the local McDs does this even when you go into the restaurant or through the drive thru, they’re terrible for it. They’ll give you other people orders as well. The next nearest one is a 15 minute drive away, if I have the car and the time I normally drive to that one as they provide a better service.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 08/12/2020 16:02

I've never ever got the bloody sauce when in drive through. Ever

BabySmuffPending · 08/12/2020 16:06

@emilyfrost I don’t know anyone who has been banned from Uber Eats for complaining (quite rightly) when there’s things missing from their orders. The option to contact them about issues with your order is there for a reason. I don’t abuse the facility but when I’ve specifically asked for something and it’s not there, you’re damn right I’ll be telling them. Think about how much money they’re making from people too scared to complain incase they get “banned”.

When you’ve got hungry kids who are looking forward to their meals (as a treat) and all the chip portions are missing or a child with sensory issues who’ll only eat a specific sauce and it isn’t included even though it’s been asked for, the child doesn’t want to eat it so is left out and hungry.

BabySmuffPending You don’t need to know anyone. I work in the industry, it’s quite common. You may think it’s legitimate but serial complainers get banned whether their complaints are legitimate or not because there’s no way to know.

So as long as you’re prepared to drive whenever you need that specific sauce, keep on complaining.

justchecking1 · 08/12/2020 16:27

I complained to just eat when my food took 3 hours to arrive and was cold. I got nothing back, not even an apology, so I'm impressed he manages to get a refund every time!

Redannie118 · 08/12/2020 16:41

I totally back @emilyfrost i work in the industry too and I can be certain theres a flag on your account for service abuse, and if you keep it up will come as a ban. And the point you are missing @BabySmuffPending is you are asking for a refund for food when what is missing is an item that is free of charge. Yes you pay for a delivery fee, but that doesnt entitle you to special treatment, it pays the wage of the person who has brought you the food so you dont have to go out and get it. Technically as the item is free of charge, the foodoutlet is under no obligation to provide it all, and to attach monetary value to it and ask for a refund is a bloody cheek ! Oh and btw my now grown up son was autistic and wouldnt eat anything without Mcdonalds sauce, so everytime i got an order i would ask for extra sauces that lived in my bag or cupboard at home. I suggest you do the same.

AlternativePerspective · 08/12/2020 16:42

Am I a pushover for just sucking it up and sticking it in the oven or microwave if it's a bit cold? nope not just you. Unless a meal was completely inedible or something missing I couldn’t be doing with complaining about stuff I have the capacity to put right myself. And some foods don’t travel well e.g. naan bread, I always put that in the oven for a couple of minutes...

I used to know someone who complained everywhere she went. She was proud of the fact she had apparently never paid for a McDonalds in her life.

You don’t just complain, you need to go down the specific route of asking for a refund for a particular item/whole meal and then put in the reason.

Just contacting them won’t work; you have to use the “request refund” service.

MrsHugsxx · 08/12/2020 17:03

MadameBlobby, so you would class a petty criminal in the same category as a rapist, child molester or murderer? I never said I condoned what he's doing just that I don't think he's the definition of scum.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 08/12/2020 17:12

Scum aren't just murderers and rapists...

It's not harsh to call a thief that. He behaves like a scum, he can be called scum

Janegrey333 · 13/12/2020 15:56

@Workerbee80

Yes he's scum. Karma will get him.
Do you mean in the way that it might “get” somebody who may have voted Brexit but also acquired Irish passports in order to benefit from being in the EU? I think that sort of thing is more deplorable as us calling anyone “ scum”.
