Someone posted this in a group I am in, and I find it really offensive AIBU?!

Nottherealslimshady · 28/11/2020 09:17

What's so offensive? The guy loves fruit and has been craving melons all day and has finally spotted a ladys melon stall. Have you got something against men getting their 5 a day?

TheRealJeanLouise · 28/11/2020 09:18

@Helmetbymidnight

its a stupid joke for stupid people
And this.
icelollycraving · 28/11/2020 09:18

It reminds me of being a kid at the seaside.
If a friend posted it (depending who) I’d assume ironic these days. If it was someone much older, I’d assume their humour hadn’t moved on with the times.
I wouldn’t be offended at all. I also have big boobs.

Sparklesocks · 28/11/2020 09:19

I’m not offended a such but I do personally think it’s quite outdated and not my sense of humour.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 09:20

Very dated. Like carry on films. Smutty/Saucy ‘humour’.

The joke is on the person who posted it. They are out of touch, dated and have a terrible sense of humour!

Chickenfingers · 28/11/2020 09:20

I have giant melons and find it funny.

RubaiyatOfAnyone · 28/11/2020 09:20

I have quite large breasts too, but have never really received comments on them, and although it’s not fashionable i quite like Carry-On films which i associate this sort of 60s seaside postcard humour with. I think it’s a period piece of its time, not very funny, but not really something that would offend me. I guess we all bring our personal experiences to “humour”.

LondonlovesLola · 28/11/2020 09:21

*its a stupid joke for stupid people

flaviaritt · 28/11/2020 09:22

What is “offensive”?

SoupDragon · 28/11/2020 09:22

I am not offended with it as I see it as the old fashioned seaside humour.

However, I do think it is totally sexist and it really ought to be consigned to history.

Besswess88 · 28/11/2020 09:24

It’s so sexist.

It’s not ok at all, we need to move on from this shit.

OP posts:
NewlyGranny · 28/11/2020 09:24

It's vulgar and outdated. Who posts this stuff in 2021?

SoupDragon · 28/11/2020 09:24

I think, for me, it's because the implication is that male character clearly thinks he can have a good grope of the woman rather than the "nice pair of melons" thing.

WanderingMilly · 28/11/2020 09:25

No, not offensive.

It isn't funny, it's basically seaside postcard humour which has been around for ages (the postcards were all on sale when I was a kid and I'm in my 60s now!), it's not in very good taste and a bit dated now.

But offensive? No. Just ignore and move on.

Gobbycop · 28/11/2020 09:26

No,

Being offended is a choice.

To be fair a it's choice by some people to find something offensive in almost everything.

Besswess88 · 28/11/2020 09:26

@SoupDragon totally.

OP posts:
nosswith · 28/11/2020 09:27

Aged and in bad taste. Probably loved by those who think Mrs Brown's Boys is a comedy.

PrincessNutNut · 28/11/2020 09:27

I'm not bothered by this card but I really don't agree that being offended is a choice.
Besswess88 · 28/11/2020 09:27

Being offended is not a choice, what a ridiculous comment.

OP posts:
justanotherneighinparadise · 28/11/2020 09:27

It comes from an era that’s had its day. I’m not offended but it would depend on the context of when and how that image was used.

TheRealHousewife · 28/11/2020 09:28

YABU! Goodness me @Besswess88 you’re in for a hard life if you find that offensive.

Besswess88 · 28/11/2020 09:28

He’s now deleted it (after I and others pulled him up on it) and posted another post about people having no sense of humour 🤣🤣

OP posts:
Rachie1973 · 28/11/2020 09:28

It’s just a dated card.

Bluntness100 · 28/11/2020 09:29

Because it’s so smutty and it absolutely objectifies women

You see I see it as the opposite, it’s making the man look like some daft single minded twat. I think it puts the man down not the woman.

IMNOTSHOUTING · 28/11/2020 09:29

It's in poor taste but I'm not offended.
