I think our neighbours heard us...

NC for this as I'm mortified.

Would never normally happen. We don't do it often and when we do we are discreet! But last night dp and I had a few drinks and had some rather loud and ahem, vigorous adult time Blush

Walls are thin, semi detached house and about half way through we heard a very loud intentional cough from next door. Obviously realised if we could hear them then they could hear us. Stopped quite soon after.

It was late and we were being inconsiderate. I wasn't thinking and I was definitely making a lot of noise Blush Now I'm totally embarrassed. Obviously I would never bring it up so do I just front it out when I next see them or hide indoors forever??? Please tell me it's no big deal!!!!

Puzzledandpissedoff there is a French film I saw at the London film festival that you could refer to- 'Gold for Dogs'.

Trailing1 · 22/11/2020 19:18

You have no choice but to move house now Grin

willowmelangell · 22/11/2020 19:22

@sophandbridge that made me lol.

Ah, but does it have rampant nuns in it?? Grin

CandidaAlbicans2 · 22/11/2020 19:25

Bed noises aren't too bad but me honking like a sea lion probably isn't what they wanted at 1am. The shame

Your name's not Maggie is it OP? 🤭😆

Kakiweewee · 22/11/2020 19:27

@BoulangerieBabs

You have to remain in your house forever more Op. the shame of leaving will just be too great Grin
Hell yeah! I have to listen to my neighbours shouting and screaming at each other and call the police on the regular. I'd much rather hear some fun times because then I'd happily turn up my telly and ignore it rather than sit on tenterhooks wondering if he's going to hit her this time and I'll have to call the police again.

On your way to the garden centre or on the way back? Grin

RattleOfBars · 22/11/2020 19:28

No big deal! They’re probably now wondering if you can hear them and equally as mortified 😂

I remember living in a ground floor flat, in summer with windows open you could hear most of the neighbours!

MrsPerfect12 · 22/11/2020 19:29

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Purplecatshopaholic · 22/11/2020 19:36

Stay in and never leave home again. Or emigrate under cover of darkness. Or, front it out and never mention it. I pick option 3..

Staffy1 · 22/11/2020 19:49

@sophandbridge

Buy a pampas grass and wait and see if they knock on your door.
Haha! I love pampas grass but would have to hide it in the back garden if I got some. It always makes me laugh when I see it in front gardens. Have seen a few in the neighbourhood lately.
DryRoastPeanut · 22/11/2020 19:54

And?.....

DryRoastPeanut · 22/11/2020 19:59

So your “half way through” was what..... a minute or two in....
🤦‍♀️
Your neighbour has always been able to hear you. Did you want a medal!

legallybland · 22/11/2020 20:01

Maybe the neighbours said to each other over dinner,

"you know what, she must think we're boring old gits who never have sex because we're so quiet. Get your sexy nightie on, Mavis! I'll take one of those Viagras I got off the internet!"

Wait for it OP Grin

WhoLettheCatOut · 22/11/2020 20:21

This is why I moved out of London so I could have a detached house 😂😂😂

Pugdogmom · 22/11/2020 20:41

Sea lion..😂😂😂😂😂
Dying here..😂😂

Jumpingjosephene21 · 22/11/2020 20:46

@DryRoastPeanut It was a bit longer than that!!!!!! I guess the cough was to signify they'd had enough. I certainly don't want or deserve a medal, I'm mortified.

But you guys have cheered me up lol.

I lived in an older house with very thin walls and you could barely hear anything, even when I held a glass up to the wall - and I tried a number of different types and sizes too. Wink

@VienneseWhirligig

If you didn't get a round of applause and/or heckling then I think you are fine Grin
You took the words right off of my fingertips!
RichPetunia · 23/11/2020 05:57

I once had a neighbour say ‘there’s very strange noises come from your house’. I just looked at her like I didn’t know what she was talking about. After that did try to remember to shut the windows 🤣

Crustmasiscoming · 23/11/2020 06:04

Never have sex again. It's dirty anyway.

Kittykat93 · 23/11/2020 06:32

I never get why people scream and bawl whilst shagging, maybe I've just not had the right sex to be howling!!! But it was a one off op.. I'm sure it's fine and they've forgotten about it.

Mebeline · 23/11/2020 06:34

The walls are so think between houses you could hear them cough while howling yourself?!?

My god I'm grateful for my well built 00s new build!!!

Luciferthecat666 · 23/11/2020 07:11

@Jumpingjosephene21 Grin Grin Grin I know you're mortified but after a shit week you've had me crying tears of laughter reading this especially when you finished "soon after" rather than straight away!! I say you front it out shamelessly. The walls are wafer thin in my block of flats you hear everything including my ex upstairs neighbours who had a regular pattern of arguing and then the making up started I swear to god I used to worry they'd fall through my ceiling with the amount of noise they and their bed made even banging a broom on the ceiling never worked they kept going. I did get my own back a little though as I was heading downstairs one morning I was on the phone moaning to a friend about my lack of sleep and saw the husband so I said loudly enough for him to hear "yeah the neighbours woke me up again I'd be very surprised if they didn't break the bed!" Grin he looked mortified said nothing and walked past me without a word. They were quiet for about a week before it went back to normal LOL They weren't the worse neighbours though.
