I think our neighbours heard us...

NC for this as I'm mortified.

Would never normally happen. We don't do it often and when we do we are discreet! But last night dp and I had a few drinks and had some rather loud and ahem, vigorous adult time Blush

Walls are thin, semi detached house and about half way through we heard a very loud intentional cough from next door. Obviously realised if we could hear them then they could hear us. Stopped quite soon after.

It was late and we were being inconsiderate. I wasn't thinking and I was definitely making a lot of noise Blush Now I'm totally embarrassed. Obviously I would never bring it up so do I just front it out when I next see them or hide indoors forever??? Please tell me it's no big deal!!!!

This reminds me of a particularly horrifying moment at uni in a shared house where me and my now DH were merrily having the time of our lives downstairs - my housemate was particularly religious and to be honest I thought no one was in as I came in and shouted hi - anyway the next day I got a letter from my housemate saying how ‘disgusted and embarrassed he was’ as his family were visiting and heard everything we were doing. I did feel bad - but I think he should have told us in advance he had family visiting.

EasttoWest · 23/11/2020 07:28

PS my bedroom was downstairs!

People have sex, silent sex is boring and quite frankly if I'm quiet in case someone hears me it means he's not doing it right. I would just forget it.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 23/11/2020 08:10

@LemonPeonies

silent sex is boring ?

If it isn't silent I find that I can sometimes miss a crucial plot-twist in EastEnders, and turning the volume up isn't an option as the handcuffs generally prevent me from reaching the remote control on the bedside cabinet.

LemonPeonies · 23/11/2020 08:48

Exactly

Nanny0gg · 23/11/2020 09:02

@sophandbridge

Buy a pampas grass and wait and see if they knock on your door.
🤣🤣🤣
Cryalot2 · 23/11/2020 09:18

Blush Now you just have to make big fart noises for the icing on the cake so to speak.
You could have some fun saying all sorts of things loudly close to the wall and make their boring lives interesting Grin

thereisonlyoneofme · 23/11/2020 15:18

We had this with our next door neighbours, she was extremely vocal, I was very encouraging and said loudly Go for it Girl ! Was quite embarassed afterwards !

PrincessNutNut · 23/11/2020 15:22

You can be as loud as the hell you want!

Nottherealslimshady · 23/11/2020 15:24

This reminded me of when I was with my first boyfriend, started watching a film but got busy quickly so afterwards he restarted the film and I realised that I had actually been watching it the whole time!

We moved our bedroom from the big room sharing the wall with neighbours to the furthest but smaller room because we could hear their normal bedroom sounds and felt creeped out that our heads were so close together! Our baths are also opposite sides of the same wall and I can hear him splashing about in the bath if we're in at the same time Confused

MummmyDayCareNameChangeAGAIN · 23/11/2020 15:27

This reminds me of the time my neighbour saw my newborn baby and said "she'd heard us make her" Grin

livefornaps · 23/11/2020 15:37

To be fair, in summer, when all the windows in the block of flats are widen open you hear all sorts, moaning, knee tremblers, jerking off, flesh slapping ...

You obviously don't have a house full of children!

Campalumpa · 23/11/2020 15:52

I was staying in a hotel once and the people in the next door room were at it all night and very loud.

After about the 5th time I noticed it got a bit repetitive. It was a porn film being played repeatedly. Maybe that is your answer

8obbingabout · 23/11/2020 16:01

Wow your walls must be really thin?

Defiantly pretend nothing happened. They will never bring it up. Like you say you are usually discreet and this was a one off.

Sex is a completely natural thing to do and should be thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved. Its good for your partner to hear how much you are enjoying it. It's certainly nothing to be ashamed of. I wish you many more nights like this with your better half.

Next time maybe put the TV on or some music on to muffle the sound or stay downstairs where you know they are not sleeping next door hehe

Enjoy yourself this is not a bad thing trust me x

LunaMuffinTop · 23/11/2020 17:34

Just front it out op it’s fine you weren’t doing anything wrong just having sex it’s happened to me before my neighbours heard me having sex and the woman told me about it I didn’t care at all everyone does it.

movingonup20 · 23/11/2020 17:39

The great thing about renting is you don't have to care about what the neighbours thinkGrin. Moving to our forever home soon so might be more careful! I would say don't worry though, far better to hear happy sound than my neighbours rowing

CandidaAlbicans2 · 23/11/2020 19:08

@TwoLeftSocksWithHoles

I lived in an older house with very thin walls and you could barely hear anything, even when I held a glass up to the wall - and I tried a number of different types and sizes too. Wink
😆 My neighbours were at it again the other afternoon, and I was actually hoping they'd ramp it up a little as I could hardly hear them despite the thin walls. Getting a glass was tempting 😉

Says a nightmare neighbour

Please say you’re joking.

jessstan1 · 24/11/2020 17:46

You have more freedom with renting, can pick up and go fairly easily and don't have to pay for repairs. Not all landlords are rip off merchants, many are quick to do repairs and replacements and prefer having a reliable tenant to charging an enormous rent.

When people are young, it is nice not to have the responsibility of a property. Once you have that, it's never ending.
