Opened vibrator delivery

Firstly, I'd like to say I have no shame about this at all. I've been waiting for a delivery of a lovely new toy for an age (about a week) but I've been in serious need of a lovely de-stress.

The order has come this morning, I get a knock on the door, ask who it is with no response. I end up opening the door and it's a package. I immediately realise it's open and not only is the package open and you can see what it is but the cellophane has been ripped open. On closer inspection, the parcel isn't sealed properly and looks like it's only stuck properly on one side. So I now do not know if it's been used, etc plus the person delivering it knows what it is too.

I definitely don't want it now. AIBU to complain? Who the hell do I complain to, RM or the sender? I'll admit that I'm much bloody grumpier now to top it off.

You complain to the retailer.

What do you mean you don't know if it's been used? If the parcel packaging isn't secure, surely the item is still within its own packaging inside? Or did you buy it second hand?

MiffedEmployee · 16/11/2020 11:36

Of course not. The cellophane is all open and the vibrator has a snazzy box that you just open. The way the cellophane is, it definitely looks like someone has pulled the box out of it to open it up.

YANBU to make a complaint to the seller / retailer. Packaging should be discreet.

YABU to think its been used. By who? The sender who probably has dildos abundance or a post person who probably barely has time at the moment to take a drink nevermind shove a rubber penis into their orifices.

BigBadVoodooHat · 16/11/2020 11:40

Used by who? The delivery driver? They parked up for five minutes and had a quick go on your vibrator, then put it back in the box and delivered it?

vanillandhoney · 16/11/2020 11:41

It's a bit odd to jump to it being used!

I would complain that the packaging wasn't discreet, though.

Cinderellashoes · 16/11/2020 11:41

Yanbu I’d send it back too

Yabu not to share which toy

Elvesinquarantine · 16/11/2020 11:42

Mm dunno.. Billy Connolly does a great sketch about a blow up doll called The Lovely Raquel!!

No wonder yodel are always so late!
lanthanum · 16/11/2020 11:45

Did you see a delivery van? I wonder if it was mis-delivered, someone opened it before realising it wasn't addressed to them, and then wanted to avoid you the embarrassment of knowing who knew, so left it and got out the way quick!

Letsgetgoing888 · 16/11/2020 11:47

Perhaps it got delivered to the wrong address and one of your neighbours opened it by accident?

Then perhaps they delivered it onto your step, knocked the door and ran? 🤣

Hangingover · 16/11/2020 11:48

I would have thought you'd just give it a wash in warm soapy water and....you know...crack on?

Am I a skank? I can't be the only person that would do that Grin

Just explain what happened to the retailer, return it and wait for a replacement. That's what you'd do with any item that reached you in an unsatisfactory condition, surely?

Twinpeaksdancingman · 16/11/2020 12:00

This is fantastic, the reply’s GrinGrinGrin

Regularsizedrudy · 16/11/2020 12:01

It just sounds like the package has been damaged in transit, very odd to assume it would be used 😂 email the retailer and I’m sure they’ll send another.

Lovemusic33 · 16/11/2020 12:04

Give it a wash and crack on 😂

Really, I’m sure the supplier would replace it if can cope with waiting another week for a replacement.

Yeah because using someone else's sex toy and putting it back in the box would be totally normal. Also not sure why we need to know about your 'de-stress' 🙄

Just return to manufacturer like you would anything else that's opened but should be sterile.

MiffedEmployee · 16/11/2020 12:15

Grin Grin Grin

On closer inspection taking it out, the box is bent at the other end in the place you'd naturally open it which definitely makes me think someone has taken it out of the packing and opened it up. I wonder if it's the sorting office who've opened it to take a look and/or check there's nothing hidden in it.

I don't think it's a neighbour, RM postie was walking past from the other direction to his van. I don't suspect he's used it Grin You just hear stories of people in the sorting offices, etc. doing odd things but perhaps I am silly enough to believe them!

Kittykat93 · 16/11/2020 12:15

What are you gonna write to royal mail?? Someone's been using my dildo? Don't be silly. No ones used it and there's no evidence to suggest anyone has used it. Give it a wipe over and get on with it. And honestly, a lot of women have a vibrator. I wouldnt bat an eyelid!!

TheMobileSiteMadeMeSignup · 16/11/2020 12:16

I'd never assume a sex toy was sterile!!!

I'm with the PP who would give it a thorough wash with sex toy cleaner (as you are meant to do anyway), maybe a second wash just to be sure.

Kalula · 16/11/2020 12:17

Does it um, look used or smell used?

I can't believe I just asked that cringe. Blush

YetAnotherSpartacus · 16/11/2020 12:17

I had the same with an ergonomic mouse (not a euphemism). It was pretty obvious I'd been sent one that was either a shop floor model or which had been used and returned. I kept it because it was a rare find (recently discontinued model) and because I have no intention of using it internally. Annoying though.

nevermorelenore · 16/11/2020 12:18

Apparently posties know when you're getting a dildo delivery anyway. Lovehoney stuff comes from LH trading or similar. Anyway, they don't care. They must see all sorts.
