Opened vibrator delivery

Firstly, I'd like to say I have no shame about this at all. I've been waiting for a delivery of a lovely new toy for an age (about a week) but I've been in serious need of a lovely de-stress.

The order has come this morning, I get a knock on the door, ask who it is with no response. I end up opening the door and it's a package. I immediately realise it's open and not only is the package open and you can see what it is but the cellophane has been ripped open. On closer inspection, the parcel isn't sealed properly and looks like it's only stuck properly on one side. So I now do not know if it's been used, etc plus the person delivering it knows what it is too.

I definitely don't want it now. AIBU to complain? Who the hell do I complain to, RM or the sender? I'll admit that I'm much bloody grumpier now to top it off.

Take photos and complain to the retailer for sure!!!! X

Ffsseriously · 16/11/2020 12:26

Gross but give it a sniff

Nottherealslimshady · 16/11/2020 12:28

Complain to the retailer. They'll replace it for you.

Phwooooar · 16/11/2020 12:28

What kind of sex toy is it? If you let us know then we can decide whether it would be worth having a go pre-delivery Grin

thelegohooverer · 16/11/2020 12:29

After the M&S underwear threads I’d send it back.

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 16/11/2020 12:31

God, you lot are skanky! Surely the whole point of the packaging is to be sure your 'item' is, ahem, factory fresh. Even assuming it's only been touched, rather than thoroughly used and abused, I absolutely wouldn't want to give it a rinse and crack on, as advised upthread. Send it back, OP. Disappointing, I know, but ... really.

Oh no. Do tell.

ImMoana · 16/11/2020 12:37

furrypesto · 16/11/2020 12:37

It was pretty obvious I'd been sent one that was either a shop floor model or which had been used and returned

Hoping to god there aren't shop floor models of dildos that the general customer can have a go on (imagining a nightmare version of PC World....)

PS I know you were referring to a computer mouse.....

justanotherneighinparadise · 16/11/2020 12:39

Oh god ‘used and returned’??? Surely that must mean it’s not delivering on its promises if someone went to the effort to try it out and thought ‘nah, just the one orgasm this year’.

LittleGwyneth · 16/11/2020 12:42

I'd complain to both.

Also I would probably give it a very good, very thorough cleaning and then use it anyway.

romeolovedjulliet · 16/11/2020 12:43

loving this thread Grin

KrisKringlesLeftNostril · 16/11/2020 12:43

RM normally put a note in with a parcel that they have damaged during delivery to apologise. I had one once with a parcel that had clearly been water damaged, and another that had been ripped.

I go with neighbour getting it and opening by mistake and doing a ding dong dash to avoid eye contact!

RelightMyPfizer · 16/11/2020 12:43

Maybe you should speak to the OP who had a problem with their vibrator delivery last week.

They seem to have a lot in common with you.

DumplingsAndStew · 16/11/2020 12:48

No wonder yodel are always so late!

It really depends what they are delivering. Sometimes, they come early. Wink

There is a long Mumsnet tradition of people having issues with the delivery of sex toys and posting about it.

Plussizejumpsuit · 16/11/2020 12:52

People have sex and buy sex toys. Honestly I think the postie / courier know that and it's no big deal. But thinking its been used is ott. I however wouldn't want to use it knowing it has been opened. Complain to the company first. If they send all their tuff with royal mail they can take it up with them as RM will likely not want to lose the contract.

Meowchickameowmeow · 16/11/2020 12:55

Maybe it was having a lovely vibrate in the lovely box and sparked a safety alert?

VanGoghsDog · 16/11/2020 13:01

@MiffedEmployee

Grin Grin Grin

On closer inspection taking it out, the box is bent at the other end in the place you'd naturally open it which definitely makes me think someone has taken it out of the packing and opened it up. I wonder if it's the sorting office who've opened it to take a look and/or check there's nothing hidden in it.

I don't think it's a neighbour, RM postie was walking past from the other direction to his van. I don't suspect he's used it Grin You just hear stories of people in the sorting offices, etc. doing odd things but perhaps I am silly enough to believe them!

You're either being ridiculous or making stuff up.

Just tell the retailer the packaging is damaged and you don't want to accept it. Take it from there.

IsabelleJ · 16/11/2020 13:07

I’d definitely complain

stovetopespresso · 16/11/2020 13:12

was the delivery man walking funny? Smile

CorianderBlues · 16/11/2020 13:25

Unforgivable.

To make the effort of opening and re-closing, but NOT to write "XL BLACK FIST DILDO" in fat permanent marker on the outside of the box ready to leave on a doorstep...

Sometimesonly · 16/11/2020 13:28

After a seeing the doorbell video of a delivery man rubbing the icecream he was meant to be delivering on his crotch, I would definitely not rule out someone using it. Some people are disgusting!

FippertyGibbett · 16/11/2020 13:29

You should have taken photos of the box whilst it was in the courier’s possession and then refused the delivery and asked them to return to sender.
