But they need to be charged/convicted first in order to get a pardon.

It might have been explained on one of the other threads (baby DD means I haven't been able to give the election my full attention), but on Sky News they keep referring to PA and GA being unused to having to count so much paper. Are in-person ballots not done on paper?

Also, why is Alaska taking so long?

Just watching footage of Allegheny County PA... it looks like an empty Amazon warehouse. The Executive is saying they have missed breaks and are working diligently and long hours.

He is also saying that the State Legislature would not allow them to even touch the envelopes prior to Tuesday, hence the delay. 29,000 ballots still to be counted.

PA haven’t used paper ballots in person for 20 years apparently- they have voting machines but couldn’t use them because of covid is my understanding. Assume the same for GA

Plus they weren’t allowed to start counting postal ballots until Election Day hence why we’re all waiting on them

He has pardon powers for federal crimes only, but cannot override state led convictions. The main body that was pursuing him and his family (not heard much about this lately) is the Southern District of New York, so outside of Trump's powers - but there aren't any convictions against them anyway at the moment (I don't think). I think he's already pardoned Roger Stone and some of his other cronies that were convicted of federal crimes.

I think many states have touch screens don't they, but obviously mail votes are paper

The next couple of months until he's finally gone will be arduous. He will go bonkers with exec orders.

I wonder if a time will come when everyone just quietly decides to ignore him?

DH and I were speculating on what would happen if he refused to leave the White House. The obvious course would be to send in a number of very large armed guards to escort him out politely, but what if he were dumb enough to draft in some of his nuttier supporters armed to the teeth to "defend" him?

Is it just me, or have they been telling us since first thing this morning that they only had 1-2% of the vote still to count in most of the remaining states? Surely at some point that figure has to go down?
