Kaitlan Collins @kaitlancollins
President Trump’s campaign attorneys worked into the night in what appears to be an attempt to justify his baseless claims about electoral fraud. I’m told by sources they set up an entire room at their headquarters in VA dedicated to a hotline they created for fraud allegations.

@CaveMum

Hello all, didn’t realise a new thread was started during the night! I’ve been gaily posting over there!

Anyway, reposting this because it’s worth it!

Democrats are not left-wing in the slightest, @BlueCatRedCat. Apparently, the majority of the US has no idea what socialism is and when Democrats have attempted to put even vaguely "socialist" policies in place, (good cheap/free healthcare for all at point of delivery being a prime example) they have been consistently blocked by a Republican Congress, certainly since Obama was elected, and also with Clinton, if I recall correctly, so in my opinion, you are wrong to equally put the onus on the Democrats for the current shit-show. The blame lies squarely with Republicans from where I'm standing.

Of course fred, but its really important to know what they're saying and thinking.

I'm not saying I do believe this, but a lot of people will, and those people will be seriously pissed off. This is a big problem, and Biden getting over the line in GA, AZ, PA will not in and of itself solve things

lifesabitchandthenyoudie · 06/11/2020 12:30

The Democrats are as much to blame for the Trump phenomenon as anyone. They have had 16 of the last 30 years to make life better for the "base" and they failed.

Correct me if I'm wrong... The way I've seen it is that whenever there's been a Democrat President they've been thwarted by the power remaining with the repugs in the houses? As will happen this time, too. Is that why they've never managed to do enough to change things for the voters?

And about the stuff on Fox, it's really scary that many Trump supporters will believe all that.

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 12:31

Georgia’s voting system implementation manager Gabriel Sterling, says that Georgia still has 8197 absentee ballots left to count. There may be a few more postal ballots to be added to that total before the deadline (I think thats 5pm EST today) but these aren't going to be a huge amount.

If Biden continues to run at +60% of these ballots that would give him a majority of around 6000 votes. Which should be enough of a cushion to be fairly confident that even if there is a recount he's probably ok, legal challenges permitting.

@BlueCatRedCat

John Pavlovitz sums it up here

Sorry, but no, there is a lot wrong with all of that. If the left persist in this sort of rhetoric, it shows they have learned nothing. I can't stand Trump, but the vast majority of his supporters are not frothing, racist fascists. MAGA rally attendees and QAnon conspiracists are not representative of conservative America. They are ordinary working people, let down again and again by governments from both parties. He has a huge swathe of black and Latino support, a huge swathe of ex Obama supporters. And to put white women at the top of the list of the "guilty" is just misogynist in the extreme, and typical of the culture of "Karen" hate that pervades the left. The Democrats are as much to blame for the Trump phenomenon as anyone. They have had 16 of the last 30 years to make life better for the "base" and they failed. Both sides are responsible for the state the USA is in now, and this sort of partisan blame game won't heal anything. Yes, get Trump out, but please, Democrats, take a look in the mirror as well.

Seconding this.

Pavlovitz comes across to me as the US equivalent of an embittered Corbynite.

The Democrats need to ask themselves "what looks so wrong about our policies that a blue collar worker in Idaho thinks he has a better chance under Trump than under us?". Of course that blue collar worker will think that on the basis of Trump's lies - but what are the Democrats getting wrong with their messaging?

I say that as someone instinctively and consistently left of centre. At some point the left (UK)/ not so humungously right of centre need to ask themselves "what are we doing wrong?"

MrsMigginsMate · 06/11/2020 12:34

If Biden gets in will there be any consequences for Fox news for peddling conspiracy theories about the election?

I'm just trying to think what happens in the UK when newspapers go fictional. Generally it's up to individual's to bring complaints and sue them but we had the Press Complains Commission as a regulator...not sure if its still around in its original form.

It just seems so incredibly unfair that a supposed legitimate news channel can knowingly push bullshit.

Destinysdaughter · 06/11/2020 12:36

Was just listening to Piers Morgan on Jeremy Vine show and he speculated that Trump lost Arizona because of the appalling way he spoke about John McCain, especially after he passed away, as he was very well regarded there. If that's true, then bloody well serves him right! Karma...

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 06/11/2020 12:38

@Roussette my husband just brought me a dirty McDonalds and I’m now feeling like a lukewarm zombie

Newjobnewslob · 06/11/2020 12:39

Well said cara and bluecat

My constant question is: if this is so clear to all of us, why isn't it clear to the people at the top? Why aren't some of their best people making an effort to address this?

EveryoneRevealsThemselves · 06/11/2020 12:39

Same is true for John Lewis’ former district

I heard that too. Strange times we live in when Piers a Morgan is the one talking common sense, on several issues.
Newjobnewslob · 06/11/2020 12:41

And I think a senator just donated $500k to trump's legal fund, live on air, and encouraged other people to throw in $5 each. That's got potential to be a lot more money.

Sorry to keep reporting from fox, but god knows how many people have this as their only news source, so it is important to be aware of what is being said

anon444877 · 06/11/2020 12:41

The blue collar globalisation losers issue doesn't have easy solutions in the UK or US (or France, increasing nationalist vote there) - Trump, like Corbyn reached back in time for solutions.

We need new thought on the left, new ideas, not just a website that tells you to retrain in IT.

Don't forget the religious aspect - I'd love to see analysis as I may be way off but I'd put money on the white women Trump vote going up because of Trump picking Amy Coney Barrett and looking like they may be close on abortion to overturning Roe v Wade.

Yes I think that is spot on. There are a lot of religious people in America that are fiercely anti-abortion and wouldn't vote democrat, not ever, for that reason.
Roussette · 06/11/2020 12:46

@EveryoneRevealsThemselves
And I'm making a carrot cake with frosting which will no doubt need lots of taste testing Grin

So the Trump campaign team has set up a hotline for the public to report voter fraud.
Maybe Don Jr. needs to look to himself for linking a video of an election checker supposedly screwing up a ballot and throwing it away.

The footage was taken in February when there was a dry run ready for this election.

That was Lindsey Graham I believe, a man with a jolly good view of Trump’s colon 😜
Destinysdaughter · 06/11/2020 12:52

Am glad someone is watching Fox so I don't have to! But yes, it is very important to know what lies his base is being fed as otherwise it doesn't make any sense to us.

Newjobnewslob · 06/11/2020 12:55

They've got someone going on about how left democrats think republicans are too cowardly to challenge their steal.
He's talking about 'are we expected to surrender?' and saying some lawyer hand wringing isn't enough

It sounds like a call to arms to me.

He's now saying something about armed people being allowed to challenge people breaking the election law

They're calling him Mr speaker... Forgive my ignorance, who is that?

DuncinToffee · 06/11/2020 12:57

Had to do some work but now that is done for the weekend ☕️

Update on Pennsylvania. Trump lead down to 18,047. Many votes remain from strong Democratic areas. At some point today, Biden will overtake Trump’s lead.

And

This can’t be said enough. Whatever happens in all the remaining states and save for North Carolina (maybe at a push AZ) Biden is looking strong in all of them, Biden takes Pennsylvania, he will win the election, it’s all over bar the shouting (of which, there will be lots).
