Good luck waking up, Red! It was tough this morning here. Seconding your good wishes for calm across the Atlantic.

ConquestEmpireHungerPlague · 06/11/2020 01:47

Trump's speech reminded me of time spent with dementia sufferers, round and round in circles, embellished a little each time. Given his position, I wonder whether the accusations he was hurling around would meet the legal test for defamation. As a pp said, not unexpected but still shocking.

Anyone know when Georgia will be called?

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 01:55

Just seen this a minute ago.

Almost all of the outstanding ballots in Georgia —18,636 — are absentee ballots, Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office told CNN earlier Thursday.

According to his office, here’s where most of the outstanding ballots across Georgia are coming from:

Clayton County: 5,726 (The early ballots lean heavily to Joe Biden.)
Cobb County: 700 (The early ballots lean to Biden. It's an Atlanta suburb that Hillary Clinton won by a small margin in 2016.)
Floyd County: 444 (The early ballots lean heavily to President Trump.)
Forsyth County: 4,713 (The early ballots lean heavily to Trump.)
Gwinnett County: 4,800 (The early ballots lean heavily to Biden.)
Laurens County: 1,797 (The early ballots lean to Trump.)
Taylor County: 456 (The early ballots lean to Trump.)

Thats a mixed bag might make it harder for Biden tbh.

Last batch from Georgia was 7.21pm local time and the two batches before were about an hour prior for each.

So it seems like it should be due anytime.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 01:57

Excellent@RedToothBrush thank you. I'm going to stay up until it's called

maggiethecat · 06/11/2020 01:58

Asked earlier why Trump was gaining in Arizona and whether postal votes favouring Biden didn’t apply there - not sure if anyone commented but CNN just explained that historically Arizona Reps like to vote by post. So Arizona all to play for it seems.

New batch of results expected 0200 UK time.

Dont blame me if its 5am or later!!!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 02:01

I won't! I didn't stay up the last two nights so I reckon I can hack it 😁

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 02:03

Eeeek, Trump closing in on Biden in Maricopa, AZ

BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 02:03

Fewer that 2.5K votes between them now in Georgia. 99% counted.

Trump closing down on Biden in Arizona

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 02:04

Just updated. Looks like they are still counting.

Trump now leading by just 2,497 votes

Now really bed. Looks like they will be some time yet.

I think its possibly slipping from Biden from that too.

showmethegin · 06/11/2020 02:05

God what if he wins after all this?!

BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 02:06

Biden ahead of Trump in the popular vote by almost 4 million. That's astonishing.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 02:07

@showmethegin don't tempt fate! It's a scary thought but I don't think he will. They're just trying to be objective in cnn I reckon

BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 02:08

Still 16K to be counted in Georgia. C'mon!

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 06/11/2020 02:08

Simon Pegg on Twitter:

It's getting to the point where America will have to invade America to overthrow a dictator and secure the oil.

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 02:09

And of that 16k, Biden could easily get 10k!

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 02:11

Taniel @taniel
Trump won the latest batch of ballots (roughly 73K votes) from Maricopa by about 14%.

Trump needs to be winning what is left in Maricopa County by significantly more than 14%.

The main caveat is if there are more ballots left there than what the county reported. (That's been the case in some counties today.)

By all accounts this batch for Trump is more favourable to him that subsequent ones are anticipated to be.

Look up @Djquinlin for the details.

maggiethecat · 06/11/2020 02:12

Swimming - do you know what Biden’s percentage is for the postal votes in Georgia?

RedToothBrush · 06/11/2020 02:12

^ thats arizona.

Dh is still playing with spreadsheets ffs.

BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 02:12

@SwimmingOnEggshells

And of that 16k, Biden could easily get 10k!
Praying to all things good and holy that this happens! The trajectory looks good for Biden. If the military votes are around the 5K mark as PP said (and assuming they are all Trump voters), then 10K will give him a comfortable cushion.
BlueCatRedCat · 06/11/2020 02:13

OK, Clayton County in Georgia just gave Biden 86% of their vote! C'mon!!!!

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 02:14

@maggiethecat 80% according to CNN. Even in the red counties in GA the votes coming know which are mail-in are mostly Biden

SwimmingOnEggshells · 06/11/2020 02:15

Wooohoo Clayton!

LarkDescending · 06/11/2020 02:15

Bear in mind that although the deadline for Georgia’s military absentee votes is tomorrow, many of them may already be in and counted.
