To feel sorry for Trump?

tartanti · 04/11/2020 21:27

I’ve name changed for this as I know I will get completely flamed. But AIBU to secretly feel a little bit sorry for Trump? He campaigned so hard for this election compared to Biden and seemed to put his absolute all into it.

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going. I would have had a nervous breakdown or worse by now if I was on the receiving end of that.

His kids clearly love him and they seem alright - perhaps he’s not so bad behind the scenes? I think losing this election will destroy him as a person and whilst I don’t agree with his political viewpoint, I can’t help but feel slightly sorry for the guy.

AIBU?

@Flaxmeadow

I am interested if u felt sorry for hitler too?

Can’t you see this is how things like the Holocaust start?

Why do people make ridiculous comparisons like this? They're not only inaccurate but also deeply insulting to the memory of Hitlers victims

No Trump is not Hitler and the USA is not Germany in the 1930s. Please read a history book

Well said
InsideOfEmptiness · 05/11/2020 22:17

@StuartNorwich

Plenty of men are hysterical as well, gender is irrelevant , only you are making an issue of it insideofemptiness playing the gender card yet again. Debates are always impossible with people like you because when you run out of things to say it reverts back to poor female being abused again. It's a pity you don't do what more intelligent women do and argue their points leaving their gender out of it focusing on the topic
Do please elaborate Stuart, who exactly are 'people like me'? Women? People who disagree with you?

'Playing the gender card'. Please. If I rolled my eyes any harder, they'd roll right out of my head and my cats would be batting them about the floor.

mbosnz · 05/11/2020 22:19

Well, to be fair, Stuart is acknowledging that men can be hysterical. It's always good if one can acknowledge one's problem, it's the first step, isn't it. . .

Yes, OP Trump worked very hard in his campaign. He is rich and does not get paid for his role as president. Biden got rich being a he is a fraud and a puppet of Obama and Harris. However, I am looking forward to the shit show if Biden wins. For starter his claims about how he will better have a handling of the virus and of unifying the country. I am betting he won’t last 6 months.

I hope Leonardo Di Caprio and Hollywood starts donate a lot to charity because the poor fuckers that voted for Biden are in for a shock and will need financial support. Stop watching Netflix and following idiots and do your research properly.

Twillow · 05/11/2020 22:23

Oh, where to start?
'Sorry' for him? No.

As a UK voter, I'm trying to magine a position where every other tweet from Boris was deleted by Twitter for being untrue, misleading or otherwise disingenuous.

A position where Boris announced that he had won before the count had finished.

A position where, in a general election, Boris deliberately set up a situation where he repeatedly told voters postal votes were unreliable so that his own voters voted in person and he could attempt to challenge the postal votes if they didn't seem to be going his way.

A position where Boris challenged one of the constituencies' count in court because 53 votes may or may not have arrived on time.

A position where Boris campaigned mainly by throwing shade on the opponent and their relatives' personal lives, in the irony of the shadiness of himself and his own relatives.

It's not particularly Boris, just that he's our version of the shitshow of personality over substance that goes on in too much politics today.

But sorry for Trump. No, I hope he gets what he deserves.
Because he's nasty, but worse he is a danger to the world.
America deserves better.

blueangel19 · 05/11/2020 22:27

And do not feel sorry for Trump. He is far from a charity case . May be feel sorry for the US for their choices.

longwayoff · 05/11/2020 22:32

Stuart, you must have some important man work to be getting on with surely? Hanging about insulting the largely female users of mumsnet is not a good look for you. Not at all. Especially when you havent thought things through. Stop embarrassing yourself.

Trump is no longer rich! He is bankrupt
Gingernaut · 05/11/2020 22:33

Greta Thunberg got a tasty tweet in

Do I feel sorry for Trump?

Hell no. There are GOP employees stirring up supporters with Facebook groups, fake news and outright lies.

He has behaved like a spoilt child ever since it became obvious he wasn't going to win in the landslide he seemed to have been promised and the count is breaking down into mob violence and intimidation of election officials across the country.

All on his behalf or because of him.

He's a billionaire and will survive long after he's the former POTUS

tartanti · 05/11/2020 22:34

That puts it in perspective actually - thanks @Twillow

@user1481840227

Biden displays empathy and compassion. His ability to connect with people is what makes him human and in the countless videos of him interacting with people, including children, I’ve never seen signs of discomfort.

Here's a few...and there are many more videos out there.

You're welcome!

Those videos aren't proof of anything! He's on public view, obviously fond (without any innuendo) of children - is on record as saying he tells them about his own children when they had to make appearances and not to be nervous - their parents are right there - and none of these parents have made a complaint. This is just trying to make a something out of normal behaviour imo - allegedly put out by Eric Trump say no more!
chickenyhead · 05/11/2020 22:43

Doesn't anyone remember Trump diverting PPE and medical supplies destined for Brazil as well as many other countries at the beginning of all of this?

I wonder whether this had an impact upon deaths for some countries.

He is not Hitler by a long mile, but he isn't fit for purpose. Unless that purpose is to spread hate.

I wonder h

blueangel19 · 05/11/2020 22:54

all callistography LOL

blueangel19 · 05/11/2020 23:09

I think you find a lot of people way worst than Trump and more like proper nazis and psychos in these threats. The hate and the moronic comments are off the charts.

People have become unhealthily obsessed with Trump.

chickenyhead · 05/11/2020 23:11

Most of all Trump himself Grin

Sheogorath · 05/11/2020 23:17

I wonder what name Mr. Norwich will appear under tomorrow night?

chickenyhead · 05/11/2020 23:22

ChristmasIsMyJam · 05/11/2020 23:23

I’m with you in that I often feel bad for the “losing” politician because most of the time, they having their redeeming qualities. Even though I dislike Jeremy Corbyn, I felt a bit sorry for him when he lost the election because he wasn’t all bad.

But Trump actually is all bad. The man is vile. I don’t feel sorry for him whatsoever, and I want very much for him to feel his defeat right in the very depths of his soul.

ArranBound · 05/11/2020 23:35

What is it they say - you get what you give.

Trump is filled with hatred and has deliberately sought to cause division and incite violence. People pointing this out to him on social media, bluntly or not, is not hate. He thrives on the attention he gets and the consternation he causes.

He is racist, sexist, seedy, misogynistic, greedy and can lie without blinking. He's made a joke out of the role of president and he, along with his crackpot supporters, have made the US a laughing stock.

I can't wait for him to lose. I have not an ounce of sympathy for him.

SpongeWorthy · 05/11/2020 23:44

Trump is about to walk into his press conference to give a statement... I say statement, I assume it will be a tantrum full of conspiracy theories and accusations.

pinpinbin · 05/11/2020 23:50

he just says what he wants to be true, irrespective of the facts, it's actually psychologically fascinating. He has a massive, massive personality disorders.

pinpinbin · 05/11/2020 23:59

God he's just rambling! They should stop him.

AlexaShutUp · 06/11/2020 00:02

it's actually psychologically fascinating.

I agree, but I always feel slightly guilty when I watch him...like I'm secretly sitting in on his psychiatry appointment or something.

He is utterly delusional.
