To feel sorry for Trump?

tartanti · 04/11/2020 21:27

I’ve name changed for this as I know I will get completely flamed. But AIBU to secretly feel a little bit sorry for Trump? He campaigned so hard for this election compared to Biden and seemed to put his absolute all into it.

The amount of hate he gets on social media is astounding - I honestly don’t know how one person can handle all that and keep on going. I would have had a nervous breakdown or worse by now if I was on the receiving end of that.

His kids clearly love him and they seem alright - perhaps he’s not so bad behind the scenes? I think losing this election will destroy him as a person and whilst I don’t agree with his political viewpoint, I can’t help but feel slightly sorry for the guy.

AIBU?

He really could shoot someone on the street and people, even some on this thread, would still defend him.

Chickenblc · 05/11/2020 01:55

@Dan1980

I have a friend who is having an affair with a married lady , I'm not sure who is the most evil of the two but reading the thread using the high bar of morality displayed by the virtuous souls on it, I think the best course of action is probably to condemn both as minions of satan and phone an exorcist first thing tomorrow.
Вы здесь хорошо работаете, товарищ.

I don't like either choice, but I also can't help shake my head at all the people nowadays spouting socialist nonsense whilst comfortably enjoying the privileges our country experiences through the conquests of men like Trump in centuries past.

Seriously whats going on with you Dan? got upset at the result so decided to sign up to mumsnet in the middle of the night to talk bollocks?

5lilducks · 05/11/2020 02:01

I feel sorry for anyone who has to deal with that megalomaniac. If all the hate on sm is too hard for him to take he should just (do everyone a favour) and step away from it all.

SunscreenCentral · 05/11/2020 02:02

If he grabbed you by the pussy, would you still feel sorry for him?

Grow up. He’s a fucking pyscho, a very dangerous person, he’d cheerfully trample over dead children to get a round of applause.

My Very First Biscuit, enjoy.

I think another key consideration is that even if Trump loses, it's clear that there are many many people that support him. This is something that needs to be reflected on because there's no smoke without fire.

Furries · 05/11/2020 02:03

Am committing the sin of not reading the full thread, but jeez!

I fully acknowledge that I can be a bit inclined towards having “Pollyanna” tendencies - trying to see the best in everyone, always wanting people to work together etc etc etc.

But, in a word, NO - I have no sympathy for him whatsoever. Nor for his wife, or his older children. The only one I have a shred of sympathy for (for now) is Barron - and only because he will probably end up down the same route as his siblings because he knows no different in his life.

This whole process is difficult. Will I be pleased if Trump goes, the answer is yes. Will I be pleased that Biden is in charge, no not really.

So, total shit show - but aside from all that, no single grain of sympathy for Trump at all. Rather an overwhelming hope that he can finally face scrutiny on a number of his previous activities!

No just calling out hypocrisy of people like you

I think without Covid, Trump would have slaughtered Biden. Unfortunately no president could have survived the carnage of the last few months from a virus that has devastated most economies no leader or president could have avoided.

Incidentally, we all have differing views on topics so disagreeing with someone that hasnt even got a name doesn't mean it's " talking bollocks". You seem the type of person to have no tolerance for any view that differs from yours so throw abuse out but if returned would be the first to cry about it.

I feel sorry for Trump's victims. For Mexican children, stolen from their parents on the border, and for their grieving despairing mothers and fathers. Also, for supporters of George Floyd, and other murdered black men & women, and their supporters, whom Trump seeks to criminalise. I feel sorry for gay men & women, whose equal rights are under threat while Trump is at the helm. Also for the countless women Trump has seen it acceptable to grope in his lifetime. There are many other examples I could cite.
I do however think that Trump the human (distinct from Trump the president) is a very damaged individual. He had a messed up childhood (as sadly many people do) and I think he needs help. But the thing is that someone that messed up shouldn't have become a world leader! It's scary...

I thought that was the whole point of Trump's quote. That a famous person can 'grab em by the pussy' and get away with it. He certainly wasn't wrong when you look at how people like Saville got away with egregious sexual misconduct for years despite people knowing.

GADDay · 05/11/2020 02:25

Re. Stormy Daniels, he used his position of power to solicit sexual gratification. I call that pretty fucking evil.

You didn't respond to my white supremacist comment. G'wan, I dare you.

GADDay · 05/11/2020 02:27

@Dan1980 on second thoughts don't bother. You are only on this thread to stir the pot.

Have fun making yourself look as foolish as Donald himself. Grin

1forAll74 · 05/11/2020 02:31

Trump seems to think he is some kind of God creature, he is so egotistical and blown up, he never genuinely listens to people, and above all, he hates to be outshone by anyone at all. He is like some cartoon character, so you can't seriously feel sorry for a person like this,

shamalidacdak · 05/11/2020 02:34

Are you on glue?

user1471565182 · 05/11/2020 02:35

"used his job status to get laid " makes him evil? People like you are irrational and utterly ridiculous tbh. I suppose people that use online dating sites with job titles to impress women looking for one night stands are " evil " then by your logic. Are you the virgin Mary that has a copy of the bible next to the bed to have a moral compass describing things like that as evil or more likely just a hypocrite

user1471565182 · 05/11/2020 02:43

blimey that was some projection about online dating sites by the way

Furries · 05/11/2020 02:49

@Dan1980 - urgh, I’m not well versed in how to quote posts, but you posted the following:

“The pussy grabbing comment was a crude comment he made when he thought the microphone was off but you hear the kind of nonsense from men in pubs up and down the country. The child cages were constructed in the Obama era so where is the sexism.. he has recently appointed a female judge in the Supreme court so wait for that as well“

I’m going to take your points in reverse order:

Appointing a female judge - honestly no more than flipping window dressing as far as he’s concerned. Nope, no proof for it, but I’ll stand by that assumption.

Those Obama “child cages” weren’t constructed for that purpose. Do a tiny bit of digging yourself and you’ll probably be able to see that for yourself.

I’ve saved your first point for my last. Those 33 words are so reprehensible that they don’t warrant me arguing against them. The only “silver lining” is that they are there for other members to see and, therefore, instantly know what a complete cunt you are. No doubt this summary will get deleted, but if only lasts 10 seconds then I really don’t care. I truly hope that a) you are a troll or that b) you don’t have daughters. And, even more, I hope that MNHQ doesn’t delete my comment as this kind of viewpoint towards excusing male behaviour (and the responses it garners) should not be censored.
