I've got a long shift from 12 til 10 so it'll all be over when I finish, I can't check at work Confused

Mrsemcgregor · 04/11/2020 10:23

Bloody hell Wisconsin is down to the wire.

Cam77 · 04/11/2020 10:24

Smart money is back on Biden. Arizona was a massive win. He just needs two of three of Michigan, Penn, Wisconsin and millions of heavily Democrat postal votes still to be counted. Trump knows he’s in trouble hence the histrionics of calling States which nobody else agrees with.

BruceAndNosh · 04/11/2020 10:26

Biden shouldn't concede this until and unless every single legit vote is counted

Cocothefirst · 04/11/2020 10:26

PMK

anon444877 · 04/11/2020 10:26

Yes Biden can do this - I don't know if we will get a result today though!

This.
NotDavidTennant · 04/11/2020 10:27

We have to bear in mind that none of the states have finished counting yet, so all of the declarations we've had so far are projections, not official results.

This is why different outlets have different numbers at the moment as they are not all using the same projections.

QuestionableDanceMoves · 04/11/2020 10:29

What happens if they somehow end up tied? Is that even possible?

Yes you'd hope the Dems have learned this from 2000!
theDudesmummy · 04/11/2020 10:29

Oh, ok, so the Guardian is being optimistic then? Let's hope they are justified...

BruceAndNosh · 04/11/2020 10:30

@QuestionableDanceMoves

Yes, there is a scenario where both get 269 votes but I don't know if some fairly definite states have made that mathematics impossible
BoreOfWhabylon · 04/11/2020 10:31

Good morning (again) all, and thanks Roussette

Just heard Malcolm Rifkind on R5, who describes Trump as 'revolting'. First time I've ever agreed with him on anything. '

lovelemoncurd · 04/11/2020 10:31

Not getting a thing done today. I live in the UK god only knows how Americans feel!

BruceAndNosh · 04/11/2020 10:31

I'm far too invested in this...

Mustbe3ormorecharacters · 04/11/2020 10:32

I just spoke with 28yr-old Miamian Alex Garcia. He said he woke up today thinking he was going to vote for Trump BUT he changed his mind at the voting booth. He ended up picking Biden to “go back to normal.”

Why does Nebraska spit the electoral college votes and other states don't do this ?

TokyoSushi · 04/11/2020 10:35

Nevada is looking really tight now too but apparently most of the votes still to count are in Clark County which is home to a little place called Las Vegas, it's just bloody tight everywhere!

I feel a bit sick, maybe it's the tiredness!

InglouriousBasterd · 04/11/2020 10:35

Recommend the FiveThirtyEight website for updates and explanations. They have a live feed going with well balanced / informed discussions on voting habits etc. Really good.

TokyoSushi · 04/11/2020 10:37

@frumpety

Why does Nebraska spit the electoral college votes and other states don't do this ?
They said on Sky News that because they have such a small number of electoral college votes, they didn't ever get very much attention from any of the candidates, so they decided to split their votes to spice it up a little bit! Apparently...
AgeLikeWine · 04/11/2020 10:38

The betting markets have flipped back to Biden again (9/10 vs Trump 6/5), after favouring Trump for the last 9 hours.

Maybe there is still hope?

There's always hope - that's what kills you!
QuestionableDanceMoves · 04/11/2020 10:40

Nebraska and Maine can split their votes apparently because candidates never went there to campaign. The decision to split the votes based on county results was made to entice candidates to come to the state.

Whether that’s true or not i don’t know
