Or Waterloo

tobee · 04/11/2020 19:52

Out of interest, know it's not necessarily crucial, how do people see Pennsylvania going?

TheMShip · 04/11/2020 19:53

@Jaichangecentfoisdenom

My apologies, this made oi larf. It will only be understood by a small section of UK readers, listeners to BBC R4, from the "I'm Sorry I Haven't A Clue Appreciation Society" on FB.

*Breaking News.

The US election will be decided by a game of Mornington Crescent (DC rules). A tie will be resolved using Duckworth-Lewis.*

To lighten the mood:

It's David Mitchell singing Whiter Shade of Pale to the tune of the Muppet theme, and never fails to make me laugh.

TokyoSushi · 04/11/2020 19:56

I think Trump might get Pennsylvania @tobee - once upon a time that would have been a huge victory, but hopefully it won't even matter.

Biden speaking soon according to Sky News...

tobee · 04/11/2020 19:57

Thanks @TokyoSushi

Brilliant! Thank you! Love David Mitchell!

Democracy in Trumpland: I won because I say so

The Guardian:

SunniCameHomeWithAVengeance · 04/11/2020 20:02

I wonder when Biden 🤞will unveil the portrait of Obama that Trump refused to unveil?
It would be funny if Trump never gets a portrait and is sort of erased from the White House.

GetTheDoorFrank · 04/11/2020 20:03

😂😂

MrsMigginsMate · 04/11/2020 20:05

Why do some news sources have Biden at 248 and some say he's 227? (Eg the Guardian Vs BBC)

SunniCameHomeWithAVengeance · 04/11/2020 20:05

Has Biden started speaking yet? I'm in work and won't be able to see it.

CaraDuneRedux · 04/11/2020 20:07

Following on from that Guardian article, fairly unanimous criticism from both sides of the political spectrum in the UK press - this from the Telegraph's business editor:

Trump has committed sacrilege and set in motion a fateful chain of events

The President used his late-night declaration of victory before he had earned it to concoct a false narrative as an electoral fraud victim

www.telegraph.co.uk/business/2020/11/04/trump-has-committed-sacrilege-set-motion-fateful-chain-events/

(Apologies, pay-walled - but you can take out a month's free sub.)

Basically saying what various posters on here have said: this isn't a random mad set of tweets. This was pre-planned and is a deliberate strategy to try to subvert the democratic process.

gchali · 04/11/2020 20:15

I'm probably being stupid here, but there appears to be a lot more red than blue in Wisconsin so how did Biden manage to win there?

Election Part 2 (Trump thread #108)
PullTheBricksDown · 04/11/2020 20:17

Didn't know Biden was going to speak. If I were him I would be off to bed for a glorious night's sleep to make up for last night asap. With a smile of satisfaction that Trump will be raving and tweeting half the night, again.

chomalungma · 04/11/2020 20:18

Milwaukee and Dane County

Big populations which went for Biden.

I love the maths in this.

Arizona 11 votes Fox. CNN show 237 not declared by them yet.
SophieB100 · 04/11/2020 20:19

@MrsMigginsMate
Sky saying Biden 237/Trump 214

chomalungma · 04/11/2020 20:21

Odds for Biden are 2/9
Trump is 7/2

QuestionableDanceMoves · 04/11/2020 20:22

Sky news showing tense scenes at Detroit vote count- crowds gathering wanting to poll watch to “make sure” it’s being done properly

thanksgivingchi · 04/11/2020 20:23

There is a lot of sparsely populated countryside in Wisconsin, the red bits and a few bigger cities the blue bits.
Not exactly but as a rough rule.

TokyoSushi · 04/11/2020 20:23

Biden still 'expected to speak shortly.' Sky News reporting that Arizona will give their result around 2am UK time (I might set an alarm!) All appears to be kicking off at the Detroit count with the police having to remove 'observers' - not sure for whom.

BruceAndNosh · 04/11/2020 20:28

There's a whole bonkers thread on Eric Trump's twitter feed (linked via a hidden tweet) about Sharpies.

QuestionableDanceMoves · 04/11/2020 20:29

Trump campaign now saying they’re going to intervene in the existing litigation at Supreme Court for PA mail-in ballot deadline

StartupRepair · 04/11/2020 20:31

Can't let myself exhale yet, but feeling more confident.

MrsLangOnionsMcWeetabix · 04/11/2020 20:33

Delurking to say thank you all for these threads and post this gem from the Guardian feed earlier (apologies if already posted but these threads are speedy buggers!)
