Long-time lurker. And I still find the US process confusing! Am so glad I’m not having to vote in that election, the choice is appalling!

My obvious preference is for a Biden to win, with no possibility of it being contested, just to get Trump out of the White House.

But in my head, a quite delicious outcome would be for Biden to “win”, Trump throws a hissy fit and takes it to the SC - and that he loses! This is obviously fantasy, but I just like to imagine that even his own party would wake up to what he’s like and think along the lines of “get the nutter away from our party and country, let Biden have a go at playing house as he’s bound to fuck up along the way, and in the meantime we’ll use the next four years to prepare someone to win by a landslide in 2024”.

The Democrats are stuck with Biden though - still can’t fathom how he was the best they could come up with.

On a lighter note, am wondering if I can set up a crowd-funding/just giving page as I would quite like to buy one of those really expensive tickets on the rocket to outer space!

Cam77 · 04/11/2020 11:37

The funniest thing is that in their heart of hearts probably neither actually wants to be president. I expect Trump knows that he is totally unsuited to the role and would far rather be cavorting with models on luxury yachts, while Biden must know that he is a bit over the hill for it. And yet they have half the world cheering on one side or the other.

@IamTomHanks

Oh my, is this pointing to us needing to stay up tonight as well?!

You may need to stay up the next few nights.

I'm prepared to do it!
maggiethecat · 04/11/2020 11:37

CNN coverage is great, just checked it out. Michigan looking up for Biden (ie Trump lead diminishing)

TeatimeAtCloppa · 04/11/2020 11:39

Anyone but a woman?? Have they not SEEN how men have completely wrecked this planet? My spaniel could do a better job than pretty much every powerful man.

I'd contribute to send the first MNer into space Grin

Michigan is swinging towards Biden - Trump lead cut by Wayne County (Detroit).

anon444877 · 04/11/2020 11:42

I can imagine Biden being surrounded by an absolute welter of professional talent doing most of the heavy lifting for him.

Go Michigan, time to redeem yourselves for ditching Hilary last time!

maggiethecat · 04/11/2020 11:48

I get chills when they replay Orangeman saying in that spooky voice:
"This is a fraud on the American public. This is an embarrassment.... Frankly we won the election"

BruceAndNosh · 04/11/2020 11:49

Trump's a golfer.
If you're playing an 18 hole match, you can't say on the 14th hole, "I've won one hole more than you, so I've won the match". You have to play all 18 holes.

Mind you, he definitely cheats at golf as well...

maggiethecat · 04/11/2020 11:49

Biden takes narrow lead in Wisconsin!

Yorkshiremummyof1 · 04/11/2020 11:51

I'm finding this stressful, I've never been so interested in an election....even our election!! I think it's because of the whole food standards issue in the US, or it could just be that people vote for a man who has no respect for women. Either way I stayed up late and hoped this morning there would be a result.

Completmentfille · 04/11/2020 11:52

Argh when will Wisconsin declare!! I can't take the stress

Roussette · 04/11/2020 11:53

I wonder what Melania is thinking. It could be 4 days before she can file for divorce. Or 4 years.

I don't believe that at all. He's a narcissist and gets off on the power.

At heart America is still the home of the Marlboro cowboy ☹️

You have to wonder why she is with him, she could totally make millions writing a tell all book.....

She looked well pissed off at the White House rally early this morning
maggiethecat · 04/11/2020 11:58

Yorkshiremummyof1 - the book will come after she's cleaned him out

maggiethecat · 04/11/2020 11:58

but can you even imagine what she has to endure?

CorianderBlues · 04/11/2020 11:59

Brits should be more concerned about Biden. He has clearly stated he will only deal with the UK if we remove the Socialist NHS and move away from universal healthcare.

I have lurked for long enough to know that anything pro-Trump/anti-Biden will get me sworn at and called god knows what, but as a tax-paying, NHS-loving Brit who has had both elderley parents saved by the NHS in the last year, the thought of Biden getting in concerns me more than Trump.

Trump has affected us over here very very little over the last 4 years - simply, he doesn't care about the UK, he is more interested in domestic policy, and performing on the "untouchable" international issues, like Mexico, the Middle East, and North Korea.

Roussette · 04/11/2020 12:01

Trouble is maggie she's on board with a lot of it. My sympathy for her has evaporated, I did have some at one point. Let's not forget she pushed the birther nonsense herself
She enables him and has sold her soul

According to financial gossiping, there will be nothing to clean out!
Cam77 · 04/11/2020 12:02

Hearing predictions of Biden getting around 80million votes to Trump’s 74million. Around 4% win in popular vote.

That is what I was expecting in fact (final national polls averaging around 7% - then partial swing back to incumbent on Election Day).

Yohoheaveho · 04/11/2020 12:02

4 more years of trump will leave America in the category of 'untouchables'☹️
