US Elections - Trump or Biden, who will win?

655 replies

JustSaying101 · 03/11/2020 19:55

Intrigued to see who everyone thinks will win the current US presidential elections? I wouldn't personally vote for Trump, but I think he will manage to win another term. What do you think?

YABU = Trump will win
YANBU = Biden will win

I saw some votes being counted on tv earlier! Probably old footage from 4 years ago.

Apileofballyhoo · 03/11/2020 21:37

Some states have counted theirs or started to count, some states don't start till the polls close I think, and some states will continue to accept votes that haven't even arrived yet provided the postmark indicates they were posted on time, but some states won't. Florida is expected to declare because they are used to postal votes and I assume have started counting them already, and they don't wait for any late ones. Alaska might not have them all done till the 18th apparently.

Woodentopper · 03/11/2020 21:37

I think Biden will win but if he does I'm sure Trump will start to throw his toys out of the pram and claim the result was fixed etc.

I can see riots happening in the USA before long.

Apileofballyhoo · 03/11/2020 21:39

Pennsylvania is accepting late ones. They had a court case about it and Trump was not impressed by the decision. So one of his Supreme Court nominees said that the SC can overturn any state court

Apileofballyhoo · 03/11/2020 21:40

Sorry MN went all weird. Anyway Trump is likely to go to court and has a chance of winning that way if it's close.

Persipan · 03/11/2020 21:41

Biden will win, but Trump will spend as long as possible - and far longer than is seemly - arguing the result.

Genuinely fascinated to know what a President Trump who isn't President Elect would do for the rest of his term. Would he up the grift to new heights and get what he can from the situation by way of personal enrichment, or just go all can't-be-arsed and sack off the whole thing?

I think Biden will win, but I really don’t like the man. I think he and his family are corrupt as hell, and I can’t see him having the mental capacity to last a 4 year term. I know I’m probably in a minority of 1 on here, but I prefer Trump. He’s not perfect by any stretch, but I just think he will run the country better than Biden. It’s a shame there wasn’t a better candidate the Democrats could have put forward.

the80sweregreat · 03/11/2020 21:47

I think there might be a few riots too but what good does it do? Trump won't go quietly for sure if he did lose , but hopefully things will calm down. His wife might be happy if he loses she wasn't happy that he won last time ( so I heard)
As for Biden , I didn't realize how much tragedy his had in his life. Why he wants this job I've no idea given what his been through! The Democrats could do with a younger more dynamic leader but it's too late for that now of course.

PhilSwagielka · 03/11/2020 21:51

I think Trump will win. I don't want him to but I wouldn't be surprised.

I'm worried about what'll happen to Roe vs Wade if he does get in, but that's for FWR.

tobee · 03/11/2020 21:52

I hope that Mumsnet smooths itself out a bit! I need these boards tonight!

Yeah coz the Trump family are as straight as a die. Hmm

Can you point me toward any area where trump has run the country well in general - never mind better than biden. I mean do you read anything about his presidency??? What on earth are you basing your views on?

Personally I think a monkey would be better at being president than Trump.

PullTheBricksDown · 03/11/2020 21:57

Really want it to be Biden but it's FUCKING 2020 so am dreading a Trump win now.

PhilSwagielka · 03/11/2020 21:58

I never got the logic behind people thinking that Trump isn't corrupt.

the80sweregreat · 03/11/2020 22:06

People see Trump as a positive force : a man who gets things done. They overlook the corruption and the bad things his done and said. It's almost a kind of brain washing. It is fascinating that people can support someone like him , but they do.
Boris Johnson had the same effect last year.

DBML · 03/11/2020 22:12

I think it’ll be the man with the hairy legs; the ones that turn blonde in the sun.

Woodentopper · 03/11/2020 22:13

I dread to think of the havoc will cause for the American people in his last few weeks in charge if he does lose.

He's a sore loser who will make everyone pay for his defeat.

Thecazelets · 03/11/2020 22:17

Biden will win the popular vote ( as Hillary Clinton did last time) but the electoral college system means Trump will probably win overall. I very much hope I'm wrong.

keeprocking · 03/11/2020 22:19

@Leaannb

He will lose the popular vote but win the Electoral College Vote-,AGAIN...Dear God, prove me wrong
All the talk of winning 'the popular vote' is irrelevant, it happens in many countries, including the UK, at the end of the day it's their system, like it or not. The Dems would well to concentrate on finding an acceptable candidate for 2024, the Republicans will have to do the same too, irrespective of the outcome tomorrow, Trump will be involving himself in that decision, look
keeprocking · 03/11/2020 22:20

(whoops)
look out for Ivanka with Daddy's hand up her back pulling the strings.

Whatever happens, he won't go quietly either in 2020 or 2024!

Newjez · 03/11/2020 22:23

Biden will win by a landslide and the democrats will win the senate.

Trump will throw his toys out of the pram, probably resign and leave pence to run the country for the next three months.

That's assuming his blood pressure doesn't spike and cause a stroke, which is always on the cards.

Times they are a changing.
