US Elections - Trump or Biden, who will win?

JustSaying101 · 03/11/2020 19:55

Intrigued to see who everyone thinks will win the current US presidential elections? I wouldn't personally vote for Trump, but I think he will manage to win another term. What do you think?

YABU = Trump will win
YANBU = Biden will win

Don't see how anything Biden's done even compares

It's more what he'll do that concerns me.

Dongdingdong · 04/11/2020 10:17

There are seven states left to declare and Trump is ahead in five of them. So correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s looking highly likely that he’s won.

JemimaTab · 04/11/2020 10:18

I guess it’s possible that Trump could still win, legitimately.
If that’s the case, what bearing will his speech have on the result, if any? I mean, since he’s apparently (illegally?) claimed victory and alleged fraud, wouldn’t that still need to be addressed?
I don’t know the answer as I don’t know how US constitutional etc. law works, but will be interesting to see how this pans out.

I hope you are wrong.

@WitchesSpelleas

I would vote for my cat over Trump

I would vote for a cat's turd over Trump.

I'd vote for the worms in the cat turd over trump.

What matters in those states are the counties yet to declare. Some of those counties have enough voters to change the outcome in the state.

I found this on the Guardian website. It’s not looking good... Sad

If Trump gets Pennsylvania, which is looking likely, I think that will signal his victory - it was supposedly more likely to go to the Democrats, and it's worth 20 votes Sad.
Noitjustwontdo · 04/11/2020 10:28

I thought Clinton had it in the bag last time and also thought remain would win so I always go against the outcome I actually want now to save myself the disappointment. Trump will win.

Dongdingdong · 04/11/2020 10:29

Does anyone know what the pre-election polls were predicting? Was it a landslide for Biden? If so, how can they get it so wrong again?

It wasn't a crazy big landslide but showed a dece lead. The polls were wrong in 2016. I think one significant issue is people are ashamed to admit they will vote for him. So the polls are innacurate.
JustAnotherMumTho · 04/11/2020 10:44

Unfortunately I think it may be Trump!

BunAndOven · 04/11/2020 10:45

@Dongdingdong
I think the polls were saying Biden would win, but not by a landslide. They predicted he would win Florida and that has gone to Trump.

That's why I don't understand why Trump has come out and said it's fraudulent, there is still a chance he could win? Unless he knows something we don't?

I've had LBC on alexa throughout the night and now watching Sky news, I'm in for the long haul. Don't think we'll get any clear answers today, Trump won't go down without a fight.

WitchesSpelleas · 04/11/2020 10:45

The NY Times has a detailed breakdown of exit polls:

Yes, I don’t understand that either. He will look a bit silly if he does win! Not that he cares I suppose.

Does anyone know how many votes each of the seven states left to declare is worth? I would love to know.

Dongdingdong · 04/11/2020 10:56

@BunAndOven thanks. I don’t think I’m going to listen to the polls ever again - totally pointless!

ShebaShimmyShake · 04/11/2020 10:59

He will say anything to try to discourage Democrats from turning up to vote, including claiming victory before it has happened. He knows that if they all turn out, he will lose, so he tries to get them to think it's not worth their while.

Did they? The polls that is. How irritating!

Can they vote still now?
ShebaShimmyShake · 04/11/2020 11:04

Can they vote still now?

Mm, maybe not. The time zones are confusing me. But there are also a lot of postal votes to be counted.

Dongdingdong · 04/11/2020 11:13

Number of votes per states left to declare:

Wisconsin: 10
North Carolina: 15
Georgia: 16
Michigan: 16
Nevada: 6
Pennsylvania: 20
Alaska: 3

BunAndOven · 04/11/2020 11:14

@MarshaBradyo

He means the postal votes that have yet to be counted.
Because if COVID, there have been record number of postal votes, nearly 100 million.

He is now saying theh shouldnt be counted because 'votes shouldn't be counted after polls are closed' ignoring the fact that postal votes were submitted way before polls closed, just not counted yet.

He has completely spat in the face of democracy. He has seen it 'might' not go his way, so is trying to strip the integrity of peoples votes, who have gone out in their droves to exercise their civil duty.

I note he has never shown any evidence of this 'voter fraud'.

Already there is some unrest in Washington and large gatherings of protesters.

And who can blame them? t's utterly disgusting.

WitchesSpelleas · 04/11/2020 11:16

Does anyone know how many votes each of the seven states left to declare is worth? I would love to know.

According to the BBC these are the undeclared states and votes:

Pennsylvania - 20
Nevada - 6
Arizona - 11
Alaska - 3
Wisconsin - 10
Michigan - 16
North Carolina - 15
Georgia - 16
Maine - 4

Whitecottoncandy · 04/11/2020 11:18

Highly recommend streaming CNN to those wondering about outstanding votes. They say how many are in and the percentage outstanding and whether they are outstanding in democrat or republican areas.
