Keep calm like Colbert.

PerkingFaintly · 03/11/2020 09:13

Starting the day with Brew for everyone.

Michael Moore is currently live on Facebook and hes very soothing! Talking politics but mainly justctalling as he can't sleep..

SanFranBear · 03/11/2020 09:18

*just talking

I want Amy Siskind as my friend - she deserves the Medal of Freedom or whatever. She was way ahead of the pack calling out the dangers and damage of Trump back in 2016.

TheNorthWestPawsage · 03/11/2020 09:34

I am optimistic, DH less so - but that’s normal in our house. Family name for him is “Eeyore”...

DC are both convinced Biden will win and are slightly disappointed that their absentee votes are cast in a blue state as they wanted to make a difference. I told them anyone voting is making a difference.

SanFranBear · 03/11/2020 09:40

And Cavemum - your baby is 3.5 Shock It seems so old and yet gone in the blink of an eye.. like the last 4 years! Every day has seen something mind-boggling and corrupt and yet, I can remember feeling like I do today, four years ago - and look how that turned out!

I zoned out last time (still traumatised by Brexit) and binged The West Wing which did me the power of good. Feel I can engage more this year although may live to regret it.

However, I genuinely believe enough people who voted Scrotus last time have been disillusioned and are angry. Include all the previously non-registered Democrat voters so incensed that they feel they must turn out this year, and I have faith Sleepy Joe is on his way.. gah, I bloody hope so!!

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 03/11/2020 09:43

@fussychica - I know what you mean when you say "I wish I didn't have this nagging bad feeling about the result. I will be so happy to be wrong." I continue to be amazed that so many people are still able to support Trump, even though he has proven time and time again what an evil, egotistic, irreligious, lying, racist, misogynistic, narcissistic, cockwomble he is. That quoted Tweet from John Dean upthread somewhere is spot on. I mean, with his past, he should recognize a disgraceful President when he sees one!

And raising a glass to GingerIvy of these threads, who didn't live to see election day.

Yes, indeed, I think of GingerIvy every time I come to these threads. RIP, indeed. Flowers

A useful site here to check on poll opening times state by state.

Widebum · 03/11/2020 10:14

I’ve got a sinking feeling about this, I’m so hoping Trump will be gone but nothing in 2020 seems to be fair. Trying to stay hopeful but not holding my breath 😞

Apileofballyhoo · 03/11/2020 10:33

NorthWestPaws it's so important if Joe wins that it includes the popular vote by a big margin, so in this election of all elections no vote is wasted.

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 03/11/2020 10:37

@Widebum (me too, btw!) - yes, also given that T is determined to win by fair means or foul, and he still seems to have a hard core base of fans who will vote for him no matter what. It is very frightening. It's like Brexiters, not one of them can give a benefit of Brexit without openly avowing their racism, or showing their ignorance of how the EU works, but they still stick with it to what I believe will be a bitter end in 2021.
I take some heart from the fact that these MAGA caps are sold out on the Amazon website.

Well so much for getting my head down in the office and ignoring it all until tonight. I kept waking up thinking about it last night so I feel tired and discombobulated this morning.

Off to mainline some coffee and get the kids up (it's 630 here), then I'll be back to trying to forget about it for the next few hours.

Fiderer · 03/11/2020 10:41

Like many I've watched these threads for a long time, haven't posted the last couple of years but v grateful for the many links.

Cannot articulate what I'm feeling today any better than so many posters. Senate races I'm hesitant to look into too much today which is weedy (cf @CaveMum and her blue markers) but have stocked up on Jameson and may be brave enough later.

The US looks today much as many a country they have sent election observers into.

Cocothefirst · 03/11/2020 10:43

First time poster on these threads. Keeping everything crossed for a Biden victory.

lionheart · 03/11/2020 10:44

Hello everyone. I have everything.
Gin
Flowers
Wine
Brew

Hopefully, these Star Star Star will be needed later.

EwDavid · 03/11/2020 10:50

Also posting for the first time on one of these threads. Feeling absolutely sick about the whole thing today, I don't know what to do with myself. I'm not back at work until Friday night so don't even have that to distract me. Argh!

lionheart · 03/11/2020 10:51

www.inquirer.com/opinion/commentary/tom-ridge-trump-biden-election-2020-vote-20200927.html

'I was a Republican governor of Pa. I’m voting for Joe Biden.'

CaveMum · 03/11/2020 11:00

My gut is that Florida will tell us how this is going to go. If they report early with a wide margin win for either candidate will be the best indicator. If they keep recounting, well that’s going to keep us all up into the very small hours.

I just hope PA has a decent margin from their votes today, the BBC reported it could take days to count all their postal votes. I don’t think my nerves could take it if it gets dragged out like that!

BoreOfWhabylon · 03/11/2020 11:01

ohgodohgodohgod

Good luck America!

ListeningQuietly · 03/11/2020 11:13

Place marking so I can keep up.
