Living in an old house with high ceilings and single glazing. In London (for geographical context with the temperature).

AIBU to have not turned the heating on at all yet?

Colleagues and friends think we're crazy!

Up to you innit? If you're comfortable tell them that. Job done.

Justmuddlingalong · 19/10/2020 22:44

Are you not putting it on because it's not cold enough or as a matter of principle?

LimaFoxtrotCharlie · 19/10/2020 22:48

That’s an interesting conversation you’re having with your friends & colleagues! Why does anyone else care about your heating?

Beaverdam100 · 19/10/2020 22:52

Crazy.

RaspberryCoulis · 19/10/2020 22:55

Do you want a medal?

It's not a competition.

ShirleyPhallus · 19/10/2020 22:56

How would you possibly be unreasonable for not putting heating on? Confused

Ulpo · 19/10/2020 23:01

Well are you cold?

sausagedoglove · 19/10/2020 23:05

YABU. We live in triple glazed new build (also London) and I've blasted the heating on for an hour in the mornings recently.

This ^^

Here we go. The annual race to the bottom about when to put the heating on.

It is not a moral failing to feel cold, and no-one likes a smug martyr.

I live in Yorkshire. My heating is controlled by the thermostat, not the calendar. If it snows in My the heating is on. If it is warm in October the heating is off. Simple.

Titsinknicks · 19/10/2020 23:13

Literally no one gives a shit?

SaltyAndFresh · 19/10/2020 23:14

Well done you. Congratulations.

Plussizejumpsuit · 19/10/2020 23:15

Are you cold if so Yabu if not then yanbu

whatsbinhappnin · 19/10/2020 23:23

Should i have put 'lightheaded' in the title Hmm

OP posts:
Justmuddlingalong · 19/10/2020 23:26

AIBU doesn't do lighthearted.

Paintedmaypole · 19/10/2020 23:53

Depends who lives with you. If it's just you or you and another adult why would anyone care. If you have children or an elderly parent and you are making them live in a Dickens novel then YABU.

Brighterthansunflowers · 19/10/2020 23:56

Um, congratulations? Is that what you want to hear?

Are you cold? If not then obviously YANBU. If you’re sat there shivering to make a point of not turning the heating on then YABU.

Smallsteps88 · 19/10/2020 23:56

You’re hardcore.

safariboot · 20/10/2020 00:00

Is it off because you are comfortable, or off because you can't afford it?

And if you live in a terrace or a semi then you'll be mooching heat off your neighbours.

Leaannb · 20/10/2020 00:02

I still have my air conditioning on

IHaveBrilloHair · 20/10/2020 00:03

I put my heating on when I'm cold, not when the calendar says its heating time.
If you are warm enough then great, it's hardly an achievement though is it?

PickAChew · 20/10/2020 00:05

I bet you dry your laundry in the fog, too.

chipsandgin · 20/10/2020 00:15

My heating is controlled by my thermostat and not my competitive spirit, it comes on when the temperature in the house is lower than is comfortable & goes off when it’s warmer. That’s how heating works. Freezing your tits off is entirely your choice OP but sadly smugness alone won’t keep you warm...

PawPawNoodle · 20/10/2020 00:25

I dont think you'd get a different response if you put lighthearted in the OP. Sit in the freezer of your high-ceiling single-glazed kitchen for all we care.

Ooh, a medal ? Yes please because we wait until December 😜
