5’4 is very slim?

Cerealkillers · 19/10/2020 13:41

Yes, at 5ft 4 under a lot of stress I was 8st for years and looking back on my frame I was very slim.

flyingant · 19/10/2020 13:44

Ifthecouds are you going to say why you're asking? Grin

Lockheart · 19/10/2020 13:45

Given the OPs posting history I think everyone should be careful about what they post. It may be feeding an eating disorder.

jessstan1 · 19/10/2020 13:47

I'm 5'5" tall and at 8stone, and just over, I was seriously skinny. I looked better at around 9stone.

Davespecifico · 19/10/2020 13:47

It depends. I would look like a skellington at that weight. My daughter is 5 ft 4 and more than a stone less than that.
Depends on your age and frame.

Orangeblossom7777 · 19/10/2020 13:47

I was that weight and height when I was quite ill after surgery. It was OK at around 8 stone 12- 9 stone 6.

Silversun83 · 19/10/2020 13:50

I'm 5'4 and just under 8 stone and a size 8/10 so I would say I was slim but not exceptionally so.

I am annoyingly naturally around about this size - have generally always been between 8 and 8 and a half stone since I was a teenager.

The most I've weighed (not pregnant) was 9 1/2 stone for a short while at university with all the binge drinking and unhealthy eating that that entailed. Perhaps not strictly by BMI, but I was definitely overweight at the size for my frame.

Even when pregnant, my BMI only ever went up to around 24 yet my DC were 8lbs 8oz and 8lbs (second would have probably been around 9lbs had he not been evicted early due to a planned csection!).

So slim but not abnormally so. 🤷‍♀️

Uhoh233 · 19/10/2020 13:51

Yes I’ve been that and I was quite skinny .

FilledSoda · 19/10/2020 13:51

Op are you not going to come back and tell us why you ask ?

THisbackwithavengeance · 19/10/2020 13:53

My mum is that height and very slim - thin even - and she weighs more than that.

Tricerapops · 19/10/2020 13:53

I would say it's just a healthy weight. I'm 5'2" and 8 stone and am definitely not too skinny. I've got a decent amount of muscle from heavy weight training but still have a wee bit of a belly that I can't shift (thank you lockdown).

Faerysmoke · 19/10/2020 13:54

I'm 5'4 and weigh 7 stone (aged 35).
I don't know if I look underweight or not but I eat loads and have never had any psychological problems around food. I am half East Asian though. I expect my metabolism will change at some point. Some people have that said I look like I should eat more, but it doesn't come up that often in conversation so doesn't seem like a big deal. I think my weight is perfect for me. It's not like I'm starving myself. Everyone is built differently.

Iftheclouds · 19/10/2020 13:54

My mum is that weight has been all her life and often gets comments saying she’s too thin. It’s natural for her and she doesn’t really do anything to maintain it.

OP posts:
SummerHouse · 19/10/2020 13:56

I am 5'4. In my 20s I was 7 stone. Too thin. I still had a stomach but my bum was concave. At 8 stone I was about right. At 9 stone as I am now I am overweight. I think that's really unusual and most people of 5'4 would be thin at 9 stone. Absolutely sadly not the case for me.

Devlesko · 19/10/2020 13:57

Yes, it's too slim if you look at a healthy weight range.
I'm aiming for this and I'm 4ft 11, and 8 stone is middle of the range.

diamondpony80 · 19/10/2020 13:57

Anyone saying she's too thin is probably just jealous that she's able to stay thin and easily maintain it.

sunflowerspeoniesanddaisies · 19/10/2020 13:59

I feel like it'd be on the smaller side of slim. I'm 5'4, I have huge boobs which accounts for a few lbs (even at my slimmest I'm an E/F cup) and my 'happy' weight where I feel
I look nice but healthy is 9.5 stone and a size 10 in bottoms. On my build, me personally I would look a bit scrawny at 8st but on others who are a more petite frame than me I'm sure it's fine!

Abetes · 19/10/2020 13:59

I’m 5ft 5. Before I had my first child at age 32 I was always max 7 and a half stone. After having her, I carried a few extra pounds. Then had a second child and carried a few extra pounds after that too. So from mid thirties to 50, I weighed around 8 stone. Now, with the menopause, I’m between 8 stone 3 and 8 stone 7. I’m not an exercise freak, have never been to a gym, love food. I’m just naturally quite small. I don’t think I look thin and I’ve definitely got some belly fat and weight on my hips. But it’s all on a small frame.

Bwlch · 19/10/2020 13:59

Yes, it's too slim if you look at a healthy weight range.

The NHS disagrees...

Healthy weight range for your height: 7st 13lb - 10st 10lb

Stumpedasatree · 19/10/2020 14:01

5ft 3 and slightly under 8 stone. Slim but not overly so. I'm fit and toned due to lots of running.

Our perception of slim has totally skewed.

TonytheDog · 19/10/2020 14:03

I'm 5' 3" and weigh 7st. I've weighed 7 stone for the last 30 odd years and wear some of the same clothes. I've just had two poached eggs on 2 slices of white, buttered toast, a Twix and a bag of crisps.
It's virtually impossible for me to put on weight.

lottiegarbanzo · 19/10/2020 14:03

Depends on build, obviously.

After that, whether or not someone is slim, or healthy, at that weight depends upon their diet and fitness. They could look pasty, flabby and unfit, or like skin and bones, or could be strong, fit and the picture of good health.

WilsonMilson · 19/10/2020 14:04

I’m 43, 5’4” and I’m currently about 8 stone 2. I’ve been that weight for the last 12 years give or take a few lbs.

I eat what I want really, I don’t diet although if I gain a few lbs I do try to lose them again before it gets out of hand, but I wouldn’t like to weight less than I do. I’d say I was slim, but not scrawny and I do have a bit of a belly.

I walk an hour a day. I’d like to be more muscular as I think I’m a bit flabby in terms of tone, and it would probably be a good idea to do some weight training to protect my bones and build muscle as I get older.

So, yes 8 stone is slim, but still within healthy range.

RantyAnty · 19/10/2020 14:07

Yes, it is slim.

I'm 5ft 4 and for the longest time I was exactly 7.4 stones.
Not anymore though. Cake

Herrera · 19/10/2020 14:08

At my lowest I was 9st but I'm 5ft 8, big boobs hourglass etc. Looking at pics now of me in a bikini I look really ill.
